Once feared by other nations for her supreme skills, Granny Chiyo now spends her time in retirement while serving as advisor to the Hidden Sand. The long war has left lasting marks on the vetern kunoichi, who now passes her time without any hope for the future. But that all changes with the sudden arrival of unexpected guests -- the child and students of her former enemies, the next generation. Their appearance convinces Granny Chiyo that the time has come to pass on the torch.

With this secret jutsu, Shino likes to communicate with his inner self and with insects, using his silence to intensify his training.
