A large yawn escaped Deirdre's jaws as she rested languidly on a large rock. Her eyes, half-closed against the dark light, reflected the boredom she felt, and she rested her head on her large forepaws, snorting when a raven fluttered close to her, before perching on her back.

She growled softly, but it made no move to escape, instead starting to preen its glossy black wings, calm in her prescence. After a moment, the rumbling from her throat stopped, and she settled back to staring off into space, apparently used to this display of confidence.

She could feel the leaves and feathers pressed into her fur, and she wondered how they didn't degrade into unidentifiable objects, with her crushing weight on them for most of the day. But at least it saved her the trouble of replacing them, she thought, eyes sliding to the large tree nearby, providing shade from the moonlight.

There were few trees around the area, but a river was close -- only a few foxtrots away from the rock Deirdre had chosen to rest upon -- and a soft chill seemed to settle over the land, which would explain the subtle feel of emptiness, as few would want to stay out in the cold.

Her black and red irises scanned the area before the young pup proceeded cautiously. She knew that she was young, and most definitely easy pickings for any experienced putnar that she may encounter, but she had still chosen to explore the area. She'd left her brothers at their temporary den, promising them that she'd be back before too long. The only thought that was worse to her than getting killed was losing her brothers after all.

From what she could tell there wasn't a creature in sight save for herself and some small lera so she padded out from a bush, shaking the leaves out of her pelt, and nipping at the ones that had gotten caught in the bones that decorated her forelegs. Any sane varg would've gotten rid of those bones seeing as how they were a hindrance, but she kept them because they had meaning to them.

She'd wandered around for a good few minutes before catching the strangest sight in her peripheral vision. There was a varg there, that was unmistakable, but on her perched and pitch black raven. She only had a minute to make her choice at that point. Head for the river that was not too far away from her current location or stay. Knowing that she'd regret her choice Freya dashed as noiselessly as she could towards a nearby bush and looked at the varg yet again.

She, well at least Freya assumed she was a she due to her scent, was rather plain in appearance. A black pelt, groomed, with few markings in a slightly darker shade.

Before she could make any further speculations however, the raven stared right at her, or her bush at least. The sight had shocked her so much though, that she'd flinched, before gasping quietly to herself. If the other varg had been paying attention to her surroundings, she would've caught the movement in her bush for sure!

Deirdre, close to dozing off, suddenly twitched her nose, alert. In the nearly barren place, with few areas of cover, it was easy to catch scents, and one of a Varg had just reached her. But it was small, female, and young, much to her displeasure. From experience, she had come to learn that most pups were spawns of chaos itself, always moving about with their loud, obnoxious sounds and clumsy paws when they weren't begging for food or fighting amongst themselves. She looked at pups with as much compassion she gave to a pile of dung, and because of this, she chose to ignore the pup, even when she made her way into the bush and caused a racket, in hopes that the pup would lose interest and leave her be.

However, the raven had other thoughts in mind, Deirdre realized, as it took off towards the bush, cawing. With a quick flap of wings, it had settled on the bush and was eyeing the pup with a hungry glint in its eyes, although it made no move. It wasn't stupid, and it knew that, alone, it wouldn't be a match for a pup as old as she was. It turned its head to look at Deirdre expectantly, as it had often taken food from the carcasses she had left behind, but she did nothing, and had apparently fallen asleep, if her closed eyes were anything to tell by.
