Blueness giggled as she looked at the bright band of colors in the sky. "Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue. Indigo. Violet. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. Red orange yellow green blue indigo violet. Red-orange-yellow-green-blue-indigo-violet. Redorangeyellowgreenblueindigoviolet. ROY-G-BIV!" She smiled and looked down once she had finished mangling the poor words past all meaning, and continued to hop around the small meadow, playing at flowers, disturbing butterflies, only turning to watch as the colors began to fade. "Where'd you go hiding to, rainbow?" she asked, and smiled suddenly.
That is what she would do today! She would find the lair of the rainbow, and find out why it hid all the time! "Ready or not, here I come!" She scampered off, set on her goal. It went that way!

Yawning and stretching her front paws, Indigo shook her fur out from head to toe. Blinking in the bright sunlight she jumped down to a lower branch from where she had been taking a late afternoon nap, but still staying high to enjoy the wonderful view it offered. Humming quietly under her breath Indi settled back down to play with a few leaves She cut short though as a crackle and crashing sounded below her and a bright blue and orange wish dart under her tree looking very busy.
Tilting her head in curiosity, Indigo called, "Where is the fire at little one?"

"There's no fire, it just rained, and I'm not that small!" she added adamantly. After all, she was only the second smallest kit in her family - Atiago's ears were a little smaller, so she as by all rights taller than him. "I'm going to catch a rainbow! Though... I'm not sure if it splits into seven or not before it hides..." She regarded the bigger kit's pelt, and asked on impulse, "Are you Indigo?" not thinking that she might be misunderstood.

"Yes, why yes I am Indigo, What are you called?" Indi asked jumping down from the last branch and landing lightly next to Blueness. Circling around the smaller kit, she eyed her up and down, "Not that little indeed, why you are smaller then me and I am the smallest of my herd. Though I do seem to be the only kit besides Patriot....Wait did you just say you where looking for where rainbows run away to or if they break apart? How could a rainbow break?"

Blueness bristled. "I'm younger than you, too, I bet!" she insisted, almost grumpily. "Mama and Daddy are too busy to answer my questions, and I go to find them out myself. I'd like to beleive the stories Aunt Chai tells me about rainbows going to hide until the rain falls again... But I'm not sure if I would be looking for a whole rainbow, or just seven colors." She looked at herself and said, "I'm Blueness, pleased to meet you, indigo. you sure you're not part of a rainbow? You look like you could be..."

"Well little missy," Indigo really was enjoying tormenting her, "I can assure you I am part of no rainbow...although you might want to look to yourself if you think rainbows fall apart cause you seem to have caught a few of the colors yourself. Blueness, well now that is a mouthful if I ever heard one though, but it definitly suits you. And of course you are younger then me."

Blueness nodded. "I'll get bigger, you just watch!" she promised, glancing down at her own caramel- and cobalt- colored fur, the dusting of small black speckles over the blue... "It almost looked like it, doesn't it?" she said, flipping onto her back so she could get a better view of her stomach and paws. "I guess it was a bit of a silly quest..." she said, smiling. "But last time I tried to climb a tree, and I did that, and the time before when I wanted to find out what snow was made of, it was easy enough... the world is so full of surprises."
