Who: LuLu, Anita, Josh, Tango What: A chance meeting Where: Pet Store When: Middle of the day, weekend Weather: Bright and sunny but very cold and windy "See? I told you it wouldn't be that bad."
The grey and white dog trotted out of the grooming facility, head held high and proud as his coat had been cleaned and all tufts of previous undercoat had been professionally combed out. He was ready to face the world, and shed less while doing it until Spring returned. Just an hour ago, he had been making a huge fuss about not wanting to leave Anita for the groomer people, howling and carrying on while attempting to drag his claws against the shiny linoleum. Once she had left, apparently he acted like he was at home, lounging on the grooming table and everything.
So the groomers had said, anyway, and with his current demeanor, Anita had no doubts about it. It had been Tango's first professional grooming and, while a bit pricey, it went very well and would keep the apartment at least a little more hair free for when guests came.
"Well, I guess I should get you something... Ball? Toy? Rawhide?" With each question, Tango's ears became more erect and his head would turn very slightly to one side or the other. As he realized where they were going, into a large aisle filled with what Anita had mentioned, his pace quickened and all that could be heard among shopping carts was the clicking of long black nails against the shiny floor.
Once stopped in front of a shelf full of various rawhide chewables, Tango planted his bottom down and began wagging his tail so fast it looked like it might wag right off. Anita's hand hovered over a few, judging Tango's reactions. The bones he didn't care about so much, tail slowing when she neared them, especially the bigger ones. However, when she made a grab for one shaped and even weaved like a baseball, he couldn't keep quiet and whined, letting out a high pitched yip until she took it off the rack and added it to her shoulder basket.
One ball, one toy, one rawhide and the rawhide was down, so next were the toys. Squeaking ones were the best, Tango always had the most fun with those and tennis balls were the best so as she passed that aisle she grabbed one canister of four and was done with it. There was a multitude of toys; ones shaped like small animals such as ducks, bunnies and squirrels, fluffy bones, stretchy dogs that you were supposed to lay tug of war with. The ones that lasted the longest, in Tango's experience, were the ones that looked like animals and the last one he had was a duck so this time it was a squirrel. Once again, he yipped and hollered until Anita grabbed it and put it in her basket.
To the register! And with the unspoken announcement, Tango was pulling his leash, trying to get there as fast as possible. "Calm down," Anita tugged lightly, keeping a firm grip on the lead, "We're going there, you have no patience." Tango's attention quickly shifted and he made an abrupt stop, turning toward the small animal holding pens. The squeaks of ferrets and hamsters were easier to hear now that staff had the lids open and they were feeding them. Her dog's ears were alert, swiveling every time there was a new pitch or sound, and he stood completely still. She sighed, laughing quietly, "You can't play with them, Tango, you're too big."
His tail dipped in disappointment.

Josh was tired of seeing his raevan wallowing about in guilt and misery. The time after the virus had shown him that LuLu was now quietly treading on a very long road to recovery. Her physical wounds were quick to heal and scar; however, the mental damage was lingering. Some days it would only take one or two misplaced words to send the frei into a fit of depression. ‘Rabbit’. ‘Forest’. Even certain names caused the corners of her lips to drape downward into a frown, a telltale sign of her sadness.
A simple agreement had been arranged for today. To put an ease on LuLu’s conscience, Josh had decided to bring her to the nearest pet shop. They had both settled on the idea that they would enter the business with open minds and leave with a new rabbit friend. If LuLu could take one creature under her wing at a time then perhaps she could give it a taste of freedom like she had wanted all along. The boy had given her some idea of what to expect. Josh did not make light of the fact that the rabbits would be more numerous and more crowded than her last run in with them a few months ago. LuLu did not seem too concerned with this. In fact, she even seemed a bit eager to get a second chance at caring for a new brother or sister. It warmed Josh’s heart to see that she was already cheering up.
Nevertheless, he did not know just what to expect when his raevan was confronted by an entire storefront of caged mammals. LuLu was no longer under the influence of the virus; yet, the memory of being assaulted by a crazed raevan and losing said crazed raevan for more than a week was still fresh in the boy’s mind. Maybe Josh was also wandering a long a long road to recovery himself.
Here they stood, at the entryway of the pet shop. Josh was taking slow, tentative steps towards the more boisterous and noisy side of the store. He seemed just as nervous as his frei. Lulu was floating gingerly beside him. Her fingers were laced idly in his pants leg as she followed her guardian. Lithe digits dug deeper as they approached the caged animals.
Josh’s eyes widened as he took notice of a familiar girl just ahead of him. “Anita?” Lulu looked up at Josh with a confused pout. She chimed, “Who?” Josh smiled and responded, “Someone I know Lu.” He strolled closer and sized the girl up again just to be sure he was correct. Sure enough, those frizzy braids belong to his acquaintance. The boy walked up behind her. “Anita! Long time no see.”
This would be a pleasant distraction from the more serious task that was at hand.

“Anita?”
A familiar voice sounded and Tango's tail showed the excitement and surprise that Anita only expressed by stopping. She couldn't quite place the voice, it had been months and months but it was definitely familiar.
“Who?”
That one, however, was not.
It was then that she turned and recognized the youth: Josh! Of course! A smile crossed her face, eyes widening, it had been so long. Her gaze kept darting back between Josh and the Raevan, however. He was taking care of one? "Hey! Wow, it has been a while! How have you been?" The familiar animal scent of Josh's companion had Anita's getting excited, trotting over and wiggling his behind, sniffing at LuLu's hand with his ears back. No harm was meant, and the dog seemed to remember Josh, as well, from the very short time he had met the young man during the Summer fundraiser of '08.
Adjusting her hold on Tango's leash, reaching a hand out to greet LuLu, "Hey, there." She seemed a bit quiet, perhaps apprehensive, whatever it was, Anita took notice of it and lowered her voice to something soft and more soothing, "I'm Anita, and this is Tango. What's your name? Are you here to get a pet?"
Now that she was here, face to face with Josh and his Raevan companion, Anita felt a bit guilty. The three of them had exchanged numbers in the elevator that day, he and David, but she had only called Josh up once for a game day that didn't end up happening. That wasn't very nice of her.

Josh's expression morphed to match Ani's. A large, charming smile fit snugly along his face. His voice was laced with excitement, "I am doing well. It is nice seeing you again. How have you been?" He quickly barreled through the accustomed greetings and howdy-doos to get to the meat of their conversation. He noticed how the girl had quickly taken a notice of LuLu. Likewise, Tango had shown interest in the rabbit frei. He cooed gently, "This is LuLu." He was used to the fact his raevan was soft spoken around strangers. Introducing her had become a habit.
LuLu seemed to be put off by the sudden attention placed upon her. When a cold, wet nose brushed against her hand, the appendage shot up and was promptly cradled against her chest. She slipped further behind Josh in an attempt to avoid Anita's dog and his friendly advances. Something about the large mammal was even more frightening than the usual unfamiliar face.
Ani's handshake was greeted with a similar, silent apprehension, expressed with twitching ears and a blank stare. However, as LuLu absorbed the girl's calm words, she seemed to grow less tense. It also helped that Tango had been pulled away somewhat. The raevan now made her first effort to speak to the two, "I am here for a new friend."

A quick laugh here and there, the humans bantering. Tango retreated when LuLu pulled her hand back, sitting himself down next to Anita, tail all a wag, and eyes locked on LuLu. She smelled like a rabbit, but looked... sort of like a human. Having met the rose Frei, Tango seemed to think the same of humans and Raevans, there was no distinction between the two except the latter smelled much better.
"I've been pretty good, actually. Not up to much. ...Oh! Uh, I moved since we last talked. I'm living with my mom in Gambino now." An explanation wasn't entirely warranted, it didn't need to be said that her father repossessed the duplex she had been staying in that he offered with barely a moment's notice.
When LuLu spoke, her smile widened. She was quiet and shy but she said what she meant and she meant what she said. That was admirable. "A new friend," Anita mimicked, bringing her hand up to her face in thought. This Raevan had animal ears, distinctly ears that stood upright.
Rabbit.
"A bunny?" The level of cuteness this Raevan exuded was off the charts. "Do you need some help finding them?" Since the conversation had picked up, the squeaks of the small mammals around the area had died down, replaced with muffled sounds of eating, play and light snoring. Anita looked over her shoulder, immediately spotting ferrets, chinchilla's and rats but no rabbits. Rabbits were a fairly common pet, not entirely unusual, so it stood to reason they had to have some in the store somewhere.
"We were about finished, so I wouldn't mind tagging along until you found them. If that's okay with LuLu?"

Josh chuckled, "I hope there are no more elevators to get stuck in there. Perhaps, we could try to have our game day again sometime? You'll have to give me directions though." He emitted another airy laugh. The boy wisely chose to not pry further for details on Anita's housing situation. The boy could barely keep a handle on his own home now that his father had a vendetta against LuLu. Josh would not be of much help or support to Ani in the long run.
LuLu fidgeted slightly. Her fingers strummed nervously against one another to form an erratic tempo. Lavender eyes grew a bit wider in tandem with Anita's toothy smile. The frei backed up once more from the girl's growing maw. It was one of the annoying habits that still lingered from her mammalian past. If something had put that much effort into showing you its teeth, then it was a threat. However, Anita's soothing words betrayed her frightening facade.
LuLu's ears perked. The rabbit's bell like voice tinkled gently again, "Yes, a bunny." Her nose crinkled to punctuate her sentence. She felt awkward using that term. It was what humans used. She would have felt much more comfortable saying 'brother' or 'sister', but she knew that the humans did not understand her when she used those titles. Josh didn't.
Purple irises flicked to the side, tearing themselves from Ani for the first time in the last few minutes. It appeared that the frei was now searching for something rather diligently. Vividly pigmented orbs darted and bobbed like large lightening bugs as the rabbit became absorbed in her task. Her shoulders slumped dejectedly after a few moments.
LuLu could not hear the familiar speech of her siblings; rather, she heard the barbaric chatters and horrendous squeals of feasting vermin. The two fuzzy satellites atop her head swiveled once more before they gave up on their search. LuLu gave a slight nod and commented tersely, "Please help."

Anita laughed at Josh's elevator remark but furrowed her brow in mock worry; yes, there were elevators. But there were also stairs. She always opted to take those over elevators after that incident, even if walking was a chore.
The way LuLu responded seemed she had little love for the word, but Anita didn't mind. Raevans had strange ways about them, they were more sensitive and in tuned to things no human could comprehend and so she paid the dislike no mind. Instead, she observed while the rabbit Frei looked around, ears swiveling similar to Tango's when trying to find a noise. Eventually, she settled back in defeat.
"Please help."
And so she would. Anita nodded, looking determined, and she prompted Tango to get up while turning toward the small pets section. It wouldn't be awfully hard to locate them and they would be in a similar pen as the ferrets; a pentagonal glass case raised up from the ground with an open top. No tiny whispers of the rabbit variety could be heard, only cashiers.
"Let's see..." Anita looked at one of the description cards taped to the cages. Smaller animals were in front, so the larger ones were in back. The ferrets and rabbits would be very close together, in that case, and she began leading the two along. "It seems like they'll be just around here," she tried to assure LuLu, looking over her shoulder to check on the girl's disposition, as well as Josh's. To cut through, they passed a few shelves of fish stuff, the back wall lined with water filled tanks holding various types of fish and other small aquatic dwellers. Turning a corner, they were met with the ferret pen just as she had thought. Tango tried to stop and sniff the glass but they were too close.
There! Behind another shelf, separated from the others, were the rabbits. All cuddled together, sleeping in bundles with supposed brothers and sisters even though it was likely none of them were related. A small white one with a single black ear was curled up in the empty food dish with a dark brown one resting its chin up against the other's back. Only one of them seemed vaguely awake and was nesting, kicking about the straw on the ground so that it went into the plastic hollow log occasionally meant for sleeping in.
"Here, LuLu." She wanted to say something like 'pick a good friend' or something in that regard, but it seemed crass. Instead, she waited and gauged the girl's reaction. Hopefully it would be positive.

Anita seemed to brush off Josh's inquiry in place of finding the rabbit pen for LuLu. The boy did not take the action to heart. He would plan another play date later. For now, there was a more serious task at hand.
LuLu had peeled herself from the safe haven of Josh's leg in order to float after Ani. The bone like protrusions on her back beat in rhythmic and tentative motions like a bird testing their wings. Josh walked briskly after them.
The rabbit's eyes glossed over the fish tanks with mild amusement. Sadly, not much fun was to be had with a creature who's primary tasks were to flop around and eat. Plus, they reminded her of a certain blue raevan. LuLu bristled. The fish did not seem too interesting overall. Only a few particular specimens would catch her eye every now and again. If she was here for a fish she wold have chosen the large red one in the third tank. No, she averted her gaze from them for good. She was here for something far more important. A fresh start.
Josh's stomach began to churn with unrest as the approached the rabbit cage. It was a carnal feeling rising up through his body like a heavy smoke. Fear. Anxiety. Apprehension. His guess on LuLu's reaction was as good as Anita's. He had been determined to never allow LuLu near another caged animal. Then, all too fast, they were here.
LuLu's jaw tightened when she saw the cage before her. Josh was right. There were more than before and it was more crowded. The creatures mangled in the plush wood chips had grown soft and round. They seemed even weaker than the ones from the zoo. Those around her were forgotten for now. Her eyes went half mast as she floated up to the glass walls in one swoop. Eyes took on a sympathetic glimmer and fingers traced tenderly over the smooth plains. The raevan floated too low to actually reach the top of the pen, a minor inconvenience that was easily overlooked. She seemed content to observe. Only after about five minutes of watching did she make the effort to speak.
Her voice had morphed and taken on a new form, one filled with squeaks and whines. It was the language she reserved only for her brothers and sisters. The creatures in the cage stirred. One or two even paid her enough mind to open their eyes and give a faint glare. Nevertheless, none seemed to care as much as LuLu did. The frei's expression turned pained as she fought to grab the attention of their dull, brainwashed eyes. "They..." She fought to form the right words, "Have no will." She pressed her forehead against the glass and emitted another low murmur in the hopes that she could find just one individual who had not become completely institutionalized in this prison.

That... was not the reaction she was hoping for.
As the Frei floated over to the pen, it was slowly becoming clear to Anita that this wasn't a fun thing for LuLu. It was a mission of mercy, a rescue, she intended to save one of these rabbits from the gloom of never having a proper home and living, essentially, a lie. Return them to their natural, wild instincts.
Seconds ticked by, turning into minutes. What semblance of a smile she had was gone now. She understood. Keeping her voice quiet, she turned to Josh, "...This doesn't look good." The Frei's reaction only served to confirm, her sympathetic and almost frantic squeaks, whimpers and soft trills. The rabbits barely reacted, far too involved in their lazy sleeping habits. Back to English, it was devastatingly obvious: seeing domesticated animals, most especially rabbits, was hurting the poor girl. Regret for being so cheery about the idea was washing over Anita like a cold sweat.
"...LuLu," Anita scratched the back of her head, unsure of what to do. She was never any good at making people feel better and the human psyche was a complicated enough thing but her knowledge of Raevans was minimal at best, and truly next to nothing. Green eyes darted to Josh for support. Would it be possible to make this right?
Within the glass prison, one of the small lumps stirred, eyes shut tight but its body stretching out. Finished sleeping, the young rabbit shook itself and hobbled over to the food bowl blocked by some of its kin. Nose twitching as if to show its displeasure, it then bounded across to the water holder and licked at it a bit before freezing. It was being watched! It rose onto its haunches and sniffed towards LuLu, small body quivering with fear and interest.
Perhaps... this one?

It hurt Josh to see LuLu behaving in this manner. The raevan's sharp grimace felt like a steak being driven through his heart. The boy's face flinched then fell into a grim frown. When gloomy emerald eyes sought his company, Josh obliged. He turned to Anita. She mow understood why they were here.
When Josh spoke to her, he fought to keep any semblance of happiness in his words, "I think... we should just let her be for now. I told her it would not be easy and she understood that." Josh's hand reached up to sift through his hair uncomfortably. Brown locks were tucked behind his ear with care. "I do not want to disturb her until she finds someone." To be honest, part of him did not want to look at LuLu anymore. The rabbit had a vicious way of picking at his resolve. If he focused on her any longer, he would end up buying out the pet shop of their rabbits with whatever scant funds e had left in his bank account.
LuLu ignored Anita as her name was called. The human's voice was consumed by the flurry of thoughts in the frei's mind, like a drop of water lost in a great sea. As if her prayers were answered, one rabbit stood out from the others. All of the raevan's efforts were now focused solely on that one individual. Purple irises shimmered thoughtfully as they absorbed all that they could. This rabbit was a female. She was still young and had some spark left in her wide, black eyes. She was also leaner than the others, to LuLu's delight. This one took care of herself. Her deep brown fur fit her like a well tailored coat. The light russet splotch on her shoulder added character to her ensemble. This was the one.
Frowning lips began to curl upward again. It was almost eerie how much LuLu's expression matched the one adorning the shivering ball of fluff. The raevan rose a bit higher. Her ears stood on end as if to greet her new friend. She whispered in her foreign tongue once more, "Hello. I am sorry I was loud. What is your name?"

There wasn't much they could do except watch and wait. Now that Anita had become an asset to this, she felt compelled to see this through to the end, whatever happened. If the situation got worse, she would apologize to Josh and LuLu.
For now, though, the Raevan seemed even more preoccupied than before. She had started up with the squeaks again, a language none but the rabbits could understand. Slowly, Anita was grasping this, as well.
Frantic breath calmed and the small rabbit's ears mimicked LuLu's, rising tall. Her tiny front legs were pulled up to her chest, no longer heaving, and she carefully set them down to move closer to her with a single hop. "'Lo, there?" She paused, questioning. No one from outside had been able to speak the same as them. It was always loud noises from the humans, a nasty ringing in the ears would always come after. This one apologized for such a discretion. "Name. Well, we always get called 'Hi, there' when we get fed. I don't think that's a name, though."
Her soft tail wiggled back and forth as the rabbit's interest continued to pique. "Do you have a name? Maybe I can see if I have one if you tell me yours." More small hops closed the distance between the two so that the only thing separating them was a sheet of glass. The top was open, however, and if LuLu could not reach inside herself, she could always ask one of them to pull this lovely one out for her.

Josh glanced back to find that they were near the rabbit care isle. As his eyes scanned over the various toys and feeds a weak smile broke over his face. The boy could not help bit envision his own LuLu becoming enamored with these trinkets. The thought of her with a plastic log over her head turned up the intensity of his smile until it was a full grin. He beamed at Anita, "I think it is going better now." He slipped back into casual conversation with little effort, "So what brought you here today?" With the tension behind them, they could relax again.
LuLu's hands spread flush against the glass. Her darkly pigmented digits stretched outward onto the cool surface. She noticed the others confusion and quickly moved to clear up the situation, "I am like you. I speak like you. We are like sisters." LuLu's ears flopped lower. The twin appendages brushed against the part of the tank just above her head to demonstrate the point. The rabbit's rosy lips pursed into a polite smile, "I am LuLu. I came to help you." The raevan was overjoyed when her new friend came even closer. They were now so near to one another that their breathe was beginning to fog the clean glass. The frei wiped away the thin veil of moisture that obscured her vision with an annoyed pout.

Josh was right. It was looking better now. One had come up and started giving LuLu attention. It had its own will.
Smiling a little now, herself, Anita turned back to look at Josh, "I was just picking Tango up from getting groomed. I live in an apartment now, so we have to keep it as dander free as possible and he sheds a lot," she reached down to ruffle the thick fur at the back of the wolfhound's neck. He looked up at Anita and Josh with a wide doggy grin, tongue lolling over the side of his mouth as he panted happily. "What have you been up to, recently? I mean... last time I saw you, was she...?" Anita wasn't sure how to properly end that question; Alive? Born? Either of those would work but what she knew of Raevans was sparse, especially when it came to their creation.
She had all but forgotten the small amount of information Mouse had given her on the beach.
"LuLu. No, I don't have a name," One of her ears twitched slightly as she tilted her head up to see the Frei's. "Like me? Like sisters?" more excited shivers cascaded across the rabbit's body as she pressed her twitching nose up to the glass. "How? The others like it here, but... Sometimes the other animals talk about humans coming in and taking one to a much better place? Are you going to do that for us, LuLu? For me?" Adventure. This young one had been in this place since her eyes were open, luckily not too long ago. However, for the only thing for her to see was just this store full of the same rabbits, the same straw, the same fake plastic habitat was so frustrating.
Out.
Yes, she had to get out, and LuLu was going to help her!

Seeing it as an invitation, Josh lowered down to Tango's level and gave him a pat on the head. The gesture soon escalated into a frenzy of pets and rubs as the boy lavished the canine in attention. Quiet mumbles of 'Who's good boy?' could be heard under his breath. He stopped when his fingers were covered in a fine layer of animal fur. Josh flicked his hands to rid himself of the unwanted fuzz. A pleasant chuckle erupted from his throat. "I see what you mean."
Josh looked up at Ani from his kneeling position. He mulled over her question silently before he spoke, "I have been.... alive and breathing. That is always a good thing. I have had a few rough patches here and there but I am always happy to have Lu." He toyed idly with one of Tango's floppy ears, "She was still an essence then." It felt odd stating that fact to Ani. Josh had trouble believing it himself. It had only been a year since he had acquired LuLu. It was disheartening to think that such a strong girl had begun as a simple bottle and a vial.
LuLu's fur fluffed in anger. She have a startled gasp. "No name!? Why not?" Her voice rose a few octaves despite her best effort to remain calm. Though, seeing that she had caused a few rabbits to stir awake did serve to make her quickly quiet down again. He puffed her cheeks out in agitation instead.
The realization that these creatures had no name disgusted the raevan. In this prison each one was know by appearance alone. Individuality and freedom had eluded them all since birth. The majority of her siblings were lost by now. They had been turned into another member of a snoozing mass. They blindly slept away their independence. It hurt her to admit it, but there would be no hope for those individuals. LuLu had witnessed firsthand the way that freedom could consume the weak.
However, she was now determined to provide a pillar of support for the stronger members of this brood. The frei's limit of one rabbit was forgotten for now. How could see limit herself to one when so many needed her assistance? LuLu would help those who sought her aid. She would help them find their lost pleasure. "Yes, you are like me. Choose a name now. One that you want. You are free," LuLu's eyes smiled at the female rabbit, "I will take you somewhere better than here."
LuLu's arms strained upwards. Her wings beat harshly until her fingertips grazed the top of the tank. Well maintain nails clicked against the wooden edges like a enticing drum beat. A soft, pink tongue poked out through parted lips in frustration. Overall, she had only flown a few feet into the air; yet, the ravean seemed winded at this new height. With shaky arms, she struggled to pull herself over the lip of the tank. All her efforts ended with her flopping into the cage gracelessly. A few rabbits scattered about with startled hisses. LuLu had succeeded in making an already crowded tank even more tight fitting. Her billowing rune caused few wood chips to stir beneath her. The rabbit frei chimed, "If you want to be let go, I will let you go. Today, you will get your first taste of freedom."

Tango appreciated the attention, tail slowly bumping into the bottom of Anita's shoe while he closed his eyes, panting happily all the while. He was pretty good at judging Anita's reaction to people; generally, if they were together and she was okay with someone, he wouldn't bark. He didn't even bark at any of the Raevans they had met together when she was unsure of what they were.
She listened to Josh speak, smiling a bit and nodding. Alive and breathing, it really was a good thing to be. As long as you had something or someone that made you happy, whatever rough patches came along were well worth the trouble. Anita liked to think she had more than enough people like that in Gambino, even if it was just her dog and mother. Then the talk shifted back to LuLu and her eyes drifted to the rabbit Frei still trying to speak with the inmates. Her smile wavered slightly, disappearing entirely when Josh said his last bit.
"An Essence?" In regards to Raevans, the word seemed vaguely familiar but she couldn't quite place it. The Summer Fundraiser was the first time she encountered a Raevan and was when she learned the most about them by conversation but it was so short and hardly in depth, none of it stuck! "Is... that what they are before they... Look like this?" without looking, she pointed her index finger towards LuLu who was now, unbeknownst to either humans, was plotting a bunny escape.
A few more small heads raised, tiny black eyes barely open but glaring towards LuLu; "Be quiet, eh?" came one far off, "Shut up out there, will ya?" another from a much closer distance. The small russet patched rabbit gave a quieting hiss to them, which got their attention more directly. Some of them were even staring at LuLu now, but whether they were listening to her words was another matter entirely.
"My own name. I will pick a good one, sister LuLu," she squeaked while watching the Frei attempt to get higher. The truth in her eyes made the small rabbit's chest swell, puffing out in pride as she scuttled back. She could tell what LuLu was trying to do, but was unsure how it would all go down and the turn it took was definitely not what she had been anticipating. LuLu's tanned quarter-body crashed down into the wood chips, sending all of the sedentary rabbits squealing in every other direction they could find. Lethargy was no longer an option, freedom was ahead of them and yes, LuLu, they could taste it.
Taking charge and standing on her hind legs, LuLu's sister rabbit turned to her would-be brothers and sisters, ears erect and black eyes locked on theirs; "Quickly! Choose a name! Choose a name and LuLu will set us all free!" In a flash, she was dashing up LuLu's arm, her back, using the Raevan's wing as a springboard and down she went, falling to the tile floor with a rough pff. For just barely a second she lay there, winded, before picking herself up and running off.
"My name is Swift!"
All of the other rabbits followed suit, screaming what they claimed to be their new names, scrambling in all directions once they hit the ground.
Immediately, Tango reacted, getting on all fours and leaning down on his haunches. He wasn't sure what to make of this, not at all, and his ears stood tall, catching parts of rabbit speak but it all seemed mostly like gibberish, getting caught up with every other rabbit shouting at the same time. "You'll all get in trouble!" A fair warning, he was well aware of what happened when you ran off without permission.
"Josh!" Anita scrambled, rushing forward for a step but then recalling she had a dog when there were rabbits loose. "Dammit," she pulled him over to the nearest support beam and looped his leash around it, tying him and rendering him immobile. "Stay!" Great, just great. LuLu said she wanted a friend, and now the whole store front was loose with small rabbits. If they could find a place to hide, they would, but this was technically their faults so they would have to be the ones to gather them back up!
