It was a dark night, one where the stars shone like jewels in the night sky, and Lilavati was tired of being alone. She prowled the top of a hill, talking to herself, arguing with herself, trying to make sense of her current situation. "It's not that I'm unfriendly... it's these damn fangs. But no. They can't be that bad. They can't make other lions not want to love me. So what is it? Am I just a bad lion? Am I unlovable? No, I'm a good soul, a fun lion to be around, that isn't it. It can't be it... AAAAAUUUUUUGGGGH!!!!" she shouted, frustrated, her cry carrying out across the plains.
Then she fell down to the ground, close to weeping, saddened beyond all repair. She just wanted a friend. Someone to talk to, to be with. But whenever she thought she'd found one, they always left, or something happened to prove that she was truly alone, and she was forced to wander again. Would she never find someone?

It was upon a sudden impulse that the lone lion had decided to go for a midnight stroll, which was odd. Normally he'd be asleep, like any sane lion, but buzzing thoughts had clouded his mind. Some fresh air had seemed like a good idea. His powerful body stalked forward at a leisurely pace, muscles rippling silently beneath a sleek pelt.
As he approached the foot of a hill, a sudden sob made him pause in his stride, thoughts freezing. Was someone in trouble? It sounded like a clearly upset lioness. Heart wrenching in his chest, he knew he couldn't ignore those lonely cries. Racing up the steep incline, he saw a sandy figure collapsed upon the ground, covered in some sort of darker clothing. The color was difficult to make out in the light. Not hesitating for a second, he ran over and pressed his side comfortingly against hers. "Shhh, relax. It's alright." Pausing for a second, he realized his good intentions could be taken the wrong way. "I heard crying and I came to see what was wrong. Are you hurt? What happened?"

She jerked away from the male lion, terribly startled, then looked toward him, her fangs glistening in the light from the moon and stars. "I... I am fine." she told him, voice quavering. She was not about to tell a complete stranger her troubles, after all. That would be an unfair burden to lay on them. "Haven't you ever just needed to cry? It is good for you. I did not think there would be anyone else around to hear, so I simply let it out." There. That should be enough of an explanation.
That taken care of, she turned her thoughts toward examining this other lion; he seemed to be rather handsome, from what she could make out, and muscular. Interesting, then, that he should seem so caring. "I am Lilavati, by the way. And you are...?" she trailed off, waiting for him to introduce himself as she stood, shaking herself, trying to rid herself of the last of her doldrums. Already the loneliness was receding in the face of companionship, even if she knew it wouldn't last very long.

As he spotted her fangs, Caelum's eyes opened a faction of an inch wider. They were huge. No, that was an understatement. "Finally someone to rival the Da'lin's fierce fangs?" He said, his voice teasing as he grew used to looking at them. After all, they weren't that big of a deal. Some lions had huge manes, some had huge tails, some had ginormous paws. This one simply had large teeth. Nothing odd about that. He himself was quite large for a lion. "A good cry always does me some good, though I usually wouldn't tell anyone about them." He said, blinking kindly. Although he refused to believe she was fine, he wouldn't push the matter too much. After all, he was naught but a stranger.
When the lioness stood and introduced herself, Caelum quickly leaped up to his paws. "Ah, where are my manners? My name is Caelum." He said, bowing slightly as though it was a great honor. "It's nice to meet you, despite the situation."
