Maeniel had swam a loooong way from his homeland, he was a stranger here and a very weird seathi at that. He was colored like a lubber, He enjoyed talking with the land bound folk, as well as most two leggers. Most other seathi he had met here had been the deep dwellin rotters that wouldn't give him the time of day.
He shrugged and swam around a little pool he had happened upon, a little offshoot from the lake he had been occupying, it was a bit of brine and fresh, decent enough for meeting company.
He popped his head above the surface and shook his little mane, enjoying the sunshine. He was a simple English Seathi, he was good natured, polite and enjoyed his time alone as well as meeting new friends.
Today, he was hoping for the latter.

Nova was an extremely young filly. Walking was still awkward for her, but she did the best she could. Her long legs carried her over towards the little pool that the seathi was located in and she lowered her head to take a sip. A little blue butterfly sat on the filly's back as she took the time to relax. It was a wonderful day, one that should be remembered and enjoyed to its full potential. There was only a slight breeze, that caused the leaves to chatter softly and call out to the little filly, who smiled softly at them as she sipped at the water.
Something then caught her eye and she suddenly took a step away from the water and lifted her head high. What on earth was that horse doing in the water? Her head tilted and she wanted to run, but her hooves were stuck in place. She watched the other move around so easily and somewhat envied him for a moment before forcing her wobbly legs to take at least one step back. Maybe he hadn't noticed her...

Maeniel was almost asleep, basking in the spring warmth when suddenly a ripple caught his attention, he opened one eye and then the other, a slow smile touching his lips. It was a winged filly, and a purple one at that.
Not wanting to startle the girl, seeing how wobbly she was on her feet he swam slowly over, until he was only a feet from her, smiling kindly. " A'llo lil lady~ wots your name?" He looked up at her and continued swimming in a little circle until he found a nice reed and curled his little tail around it.
He waited for her to answer and shivered as a little breeze blew through his back fins. He was surprised she was here by herself actually, she seemed just out of the basket, at least that's where he had heard little four legged foals and fills came from, even ones with wings.
He was small compared to her, very small, just the size of an average house cat. He hoped he hadn't frightened her.

Her father had told her about different soquili and who was best to stay away from, but he never mentioned one like this one before. Nova's silver eyes focused on the other and she shuffled her wings in a unconsciously, causing them to glimmer in the little bit of sunlight that seeped through the leaves of the trees.
She wasn't supposed to give her name out to any random stranger, but he was smaller than she was and it seemed that he could only stay in the water. Her head tilted for a moment, did he have an accent? Nova tried to keep from giggling, her mother did tell her it was rude to laugh at others. "My n-name is N-Nova."
Her wings shuffled once again as she looked down at her orange hooves. Nova knew her manners and didn't want to seem rude to this seemingly kind... erm... waterhorsething. "What is your name, if I may ask?" She bit her lower lip to keep herself from bluntly asking what he was. Wouldn't that be rude? She let a polite smile appear on her young face.

Maeniel smiled as she fluffed her feathers and was obviousy shuffling a bit awkwardly, unsure how to talk to him.
"Och, well that's a fine name fer such a beauuuutiful young lady"
He wiggled his nose and made a funny face, hoping to amuse her~ then bowed his little head and raised one little hoof from the water.
"Pleased ta meetcha miss Nova, m'name's Maeniel~ at yer service."
He let go of the reed with his curly tail and swam as close to the shore as he could without actually flopping on the sand and smiled. " To tell truth, miss Nova, i've not met a wind like yerself before~ Yer ma n pa must be proud, wot~" he pricked his ears forward. "I'm what chu call a Seathi~ little "sea Soquili" if ye will~"
he chuckled a bit.
"Ah hope i didna frighten you~"

Nova watched the other and let a smile grown on her muzzle when he complimented her. She watched how he wiggled his nose and giggled softly. So he wasn't a scary monster after all. The little filly took a few steps forward now, letting her hooves touch the water just barely. She hadn't experienced this before. How strange this sand felt when she stepped on it. It seemed to cave in around her hooves with each step. Her ears flicked forward and her silver eyes watched the sand closely.
"N-Nice to meet you Maeniel," she was now forcing herself to speak, "I've never met a... Seathi?" She hadn't heard the term before, but listened closely when he explained and nodded her head to let him know she understood. With a smile, she lowered her head towards the little Seathi. It was what her father did when he wanted to talk to her sometimes. She guessed it was so she didn't have to hurt her neck to look up to him. Her white tail flicked and her wings shuffled once more, causing her ears to flick back. It was strange when she felt them move. She could barely use her legs, let alone the wings on her back. "Oh! N-No, I wasn't frightened I was just... um... confused." She didn't want to admit being shy, even though he probably already knew she was.

Maeniel smiled and wiggled his ears as well, swimming back and forth in front of her, knowing water was new to the colorful filly and also keeping an eye on her hooves to make sure she didn't sink too far in.
" Och, well young lady, i be glad to meet you as well~ n glad to be the first o my folk ye've met~! " he smiled rougishly " I'm one o the odd ones in moi community, i like to talk ter land walkers an two leggers n all that." he chuckled " if it's any consolation miss Nova~ i've never met a winged filly a'fore!"
he watched carefully as she lowered her head to him and he ruffled his back fins, glad for the lessening of the strain on his little neck~ Seathi were one of the smallest things around and one had to be careful. He blinked his big brown eyes at her and smiled, listening to her stutter~ well that was fine, she was new after all~ he perked up " want to see a trick?"
he swam back a little and puffed up his little cheeks, then slowly started blowing a little stream of rainbow glassy bubbles. Hoping she would enjoy them.

Nova dared to take yet another step forward into the water as she watched the stallion easily swim back and fourth. Her ears stayed pinned up at all times, instinctively, she was on full alert. Everything was new and strange and wonderful. Her silver eyes filled with joy as she watched the water grow closer to her ankles.
When he spoke, her eyes lifted quickly to look at him, it was rude not to look at one that was speaking to you after all. "You have a um... nice way of talking. Two leggers?" Her father warned her about them. "I'm told to stay away from them... they are evil." Her ears pinned to her head for a moment before flicking forward once more. "I'm glad that you have met me now!"
Her jaw dropped, almost hitting the water as she watched the stallion's bubbles float on the water then suddenly disappear. Nova tilted her head slightly and giggled. "How did you do that?!"

Maeniel raised an eyebrow and blew another bubble, a bigger one this time, and had it sail right past her nose. He smiled " careful now missy, ye don't wanna fall in now der ya?"
He chuckled and nodded his head in a little bow "well thankee~ tho where oi come from, e'ryone speaks this way~" he tilted his head and piped up " aye, two leggers~ 'uman folk~ some of em are mean loike yev been tought, and some aren't so bad once ye get ter know em~"
He smiled at her enthusiasm, remembering when he had just hatched from his shell and found a whole new world glistening before him, ready to explore. He wiggled his nose, aye, those were the days.
He smirked and blew some more bubbles, " eh? this? it's just a lil trick, most Seathi ye meet can do it~ we spend our 'oooole lives in the water, so ye know~ loike you will someday learn 'ow ter use those pretty wings o yers~ we learn ter do wonders in the water~"
he wiggled his ears " but if'n yer asking 'OW~~~" he winked " oi keep a little bit o water n magic in me chest, just fer bubble makin an amusin pretty little fillys ^^" he smirked to himself~

Nova watched the larger bubble as it floated just past her, then giggled when it popped. She shook her head to the stallion as she would shake her head to her father who was trying to teach her a lesson. This stallion was a little like her own father, but her father was much, much bigger.
Her head tilted slightly. Not everyone was born here? She expected everyone to be born and raised in this little bit of land that she was born and raised in. How strange! "Where do you come from?" Nova was told never to trust the humans and she would obey her father's command. From the stories her father told, she would avoid them at all costs.
Nova watched the bubbles float along with the breeze then pop, which always seemed to make her smile or giggle. She glanced at her wings, which she tried to stretch out, but only managed to cause them to shuffle slightly. They were too heavy it seemed for her to pick them completely up just yet.
The naive filly believed every word the stallion spoke. Her smile grew across her muzzle and her eyes seemed to glimmer with excitement. "Magic? Do winds, like me, have magic?" Nova thought her wings looked pretty magical, with the shimmer they had, but they didn't seem to actually be too magical.

he tilted his little head and watched in amusement as he enjoyed the bubbles, and chuckled as she shook her head at him.
Maeniel smiled and raised a little hoof " oi was born in the warm summer waters off a place the 'umans call England~ its a noice place, mostly friendly blokes~ a lot like me, though most o the Seathi oi meet are dark dwellers~ they 'ide a lot, dun like chaps like me!" he smirked " oi look a bit too landy for them~yasee~"
He watched her attempt to stretch her wings out and wiggled his nose " now dun push those feathers miss Nova~ loike every fish learns ter swim, every bird learns ter fly n all that~" he looked puzzled for a minute and then nodded " or in yer case, flyin filly ^^ time'll dry those feathers of yours and you'll be soarin around like no tomorrow 'afore you know it!"
He smiled " ahhh, well everyone 'as a bit o magic in em yaknow~ s'what creates life ^^ there's magic in everthin ya look at if ye know 'ow to look at it~ Your magic, when ye get older, to fly! loike mine is ter swim and do bubble tricks" he chuckled, enjoying her company.

Nova's ears flicked towards the small stallion. He was good company, he now didn't make her feel intimidated. She couldn't tell if it was his size or his attitude. Either way, she liked him and hoped her father would one day be able to meet this... erm chap as he said.
"England." She liked the name, but knew very little about it. They talked funny and it was warm. Maybe she would visit that place one day. Her pale tail flicked as her silver eyes scanned the area. It was quiet and peaceful, such a nice place to meet a new friend. She hoped to always remember this day and her new friend, Maeniel.
"I'm glad you don't hide. If you did, I wouldn't have learned about s-seathi." That was the word, right? Her face twisted for a moment as she thought, the returned to normal. She would have to tell her father all about Seathi and how nice this one was. He would love to learn about them, she was sure.
The talk of magic and one day flying made Nova's mind wander for a moment. Flying with bird friends... how interesting that would be. She shook her head, not wanting to be rude and miss anything the stallion was saying.

Maeniel smiled kindly " aye, England~an parhaps yor daddy or mum, whichever's the flyin one~ will take ye there :3"
He watched as she looked around with new eyes, ahh the wonder of a child. He smiled and wished, just a little, that he was as big as she, trotting and someday, flying about. "Hmmm, 'old on" He dipped under water for a minute and then fishing around he found a pretty pearl pink sea flower and brought it up to her, placing it on shore.
"Yep, Seathi ^^" he chuckled" e're you are miss Nova, a pretty flower for a pretty girl ^^"
He smirked " be careful it doesn't get too late now miss~ it 'll get dark soon, i dun want yer folks to worry~"

"I hope to one day visit there with my mommy." Nova said sweetly as she smiled at the polite stallion.
Nova watched as the stallion easily dipped into the water. He made swimming look so easy, but Nova knew it was much harder than he made it look. Her father had explained how to swim, but Nova never seemed to understand. She watched the water, only seeing her reflection, then smiled when the stallion reappeared. The water around him rippling slightly.
Nova looked at the flower, she had never seen one like it. She always loved flowers, especially how important they were to a little butterfly, like the one that followed her around. She beamed as she looked closely at the pink sea flower. "Thank you!"
Nova looked at the sky, a little shocked at how late it truly had gotten. Very gently, as if he were a little breakable china doll, the filly lowered her head and nuzzled the stallion as a farewell and thank you. "I hope to see you again." Nova said before picking up the beautiful flower and quickly walking off, the butterfly leading her the way home.
