Used for Breeding. August 4th
(You know the deal razz )
Maiya: *draws*
Donnie: *walks over to Maiya* Hey. *tilts his head* Whatcha drawing?
Maiya: Hi Donnie. I'm drawing. ^^ *holds up a sketch of a half-finished waterfall in the middle of a forest*
Donnie: Wow, it's really pretty.
Maiya: Thank you. ^^ When I'm done I'm going to take it home and paint it.
3nodding Donnie: *smiles* I'm sure it will look great.
Maiya: Thank you.
biggrin *goes back to drawing* So how are you today?
Donnie: I've been pretty good. How about you?
Maiya: I'm doing very well. I started reading The Divine Comedy yesterday. It's pretty good.
3nodding Donnie: That's good. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Maybe I'll have to read it.
Maiya: Well it's divided into there parts- Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise. I'm still in Inferno, though I'm almost done. Basically Dante and his guide Virgil are touring Hell at this point.
biggrin Donnie: Wow, it sounds very interesting.
Maiya: It
is. Though sometimes Dante's style of writing is hard to take for a long period of time, and if you don't pay attention you can get lost in the words.
3nodding Donnie: Ah yeah, gotta watch out for that. *chuckles*
Maiya: Well sometimes I get wrapped up in imagining things while I'm reading on occasion my mind will wander and next thing you know I'm halfway through a sentence I don't remember reading so I have to go back and reread.
xd Usually it's not a problem though, but with Dante it can be.
Donnie: *laughs, thinking that's cute* I know what you mean actually...but I can't say I've read anything of Dante's.
Maiya: The Divine Comedy is the only thing I've seen written by him. I think Sara said that it was most likely the most interesting thing he's written, and probably the piece that keeps his name alive. Not sure if Sara's opinion is right though. ^^
Donnie: Well, you'll have to tell me when you finish, and if it's good, I'll have to read it.
Maiya: Okay, I will. ^^ So have you read anything since 1984?
Donnie: No, I haven't actually. I've been writing mostly, but I have been meaning to catch up on my reading.
Maiya: Writing, huh? In a way that's better than reading.
3nodding I'm not very good at writing though. I can never seem to put in words what I can imagine in my mind.
sweatdrop Donnie: Sometimes it's more complicated. And sometimes the words just flow...it depends on my inspiration. *smiles at her* I suppose it's like painting. A different form of putting down the things that you imagine. I'd like to see yours when you finish it.
Maiya: I'll be sure to show it to you when I'm finished. ^^ I guess I'm just more visual than anything else. I can't always express myself with words, but with painting it's just easier. Well, easier to me. It's definitely a different way of expressing yourself.
biggrin Donnie: Everyone is different. We all need different ways to express ourselves.
Maiya: *nods* I agree. If we all expressed ourselves through writing there wouldn't be any good paintings to look at, and if we all painted then think of all the good books that would never be written.
3nodding Donnie: *laughs* True, true. And if you put the two talents together, you get a picture book.
xd Maiya: Picture books. ^^ I always wondered why picture books were mostly reserved for kids. It would be nice to see some more adult or teen books with very nice pictures. =D
Donnie: Yes. *grins* Maybe we should make one.
Maiya: That would be cool. I would
love to illustrate one of your stories. =D
Donnie: I would love to have you illustrate one...
Maiya: Do you have a story in mind?
Donnie: Hmm...not particularly, but I could find one. Or write one. That's a very lovely drawing, maybe it can be the first illustration?
Maiya: It can be if you'd like.
3nodding Would you like me to color it or do you want black and white illustrations?
Donnie: That's up to you, you're the artist. *winks*
Maiya: Hmmmm....I think it'll look good in color. Oh, I'll have Sara scan a copy just in case we want to go black-and-white later. ^^
Donnie: Alright, that sounds good. I'll have to work on a story.
Maiya: I look forward to reading and illustrating it. ^^
Donnie: *chuckles* This will be the best picture book ever.
Maiya: I wonder how many namrah would like to read it.
biggrin Donnie: *grins* Everyone will want to read it!
Maiya: We'll be a famous duo, and namrah will be clammering for sequels.
biggrin Donnie:
xd We'll have to hide from all the crazed fans trying to kill for our autographs.
Maiya: Oh my!
xd How about we use pen names, and never show what we look like? We'll still be famous, but without everyone knowing who we are. =D
Donnie: Ah, yeah, that's a great idea! Do you have one in mind?
Maiya: Not really. I could steal the name Ellenoir though. It's meaning doesn't match what I look like, but it's pretty.
3nodding Donnie: It is pretty...and you are pretty...so it fits fine. Now I guess I need a name huh...
Maiya: *smiles at being called pretty* Aw, thank you. ^^ Hmmm....any ideas for a name for yourself?
Donnie: You're welcome. *smiles* Uhm...sure, how about...Xerxes?
Maiya: Xerxes is a nice name. Isn't is in Mythology too? ^^
Donnie: Yeah...he was a ruler or something. *smiles* So, Ellenoir and Xerxes then? Or should we have cool last names too?
Maiya: Most namrah don't have last names, so I don't think we need to think up a last name. Last names are harder anyhow, or at least I think they are. ^^
Donnie: Yeah, okay. *nods* Well...I guess we'll be busy with writing and drawing for awhile...huh? *fidgets a little*
Maiya: Yep, it'll be a lot of work. *guesses at the reason behind the figeting* Well it's not like we have a deadline, so this book shouldn't take over our lives and prevent us from having fun. We've got all the time in the world.
3nodding Donnie: *chuckles* Yeah...well, if you ever want to take a break from it...and have some fun or something...I was wondering if maybe you'd wanna...go out with me sometime. Like...on a date? *resists the urge to fidget some more*
Maiya: *blushes slightly* A date? *thinks* I'd like that. ^^
Donnie: *relieved* Great...I'll take you anywhere you wanna go. Maybe...we could get some ideas for some...illustrations for the story or something...*trying to sound productive*
Maiya: *thinks* Hmmm....maybe we could go for a walk and see if we can find a good view of the mountain.
biggrin Donnie: Alright. ^^ When would you like to go?
Maiya: Would tomorrow be okay?
biggrin Donnie: Absolutely. *grins*
Maiya: *smiles, getting a little excited for the date tomorrow* ^^
Donnie: *is also excited, and doesn't know what to say now. Fidget's a little* Uhm, so...
Maiya: *giggles* I'm sorry. I'm just a little speechless at the moment.
xd In a good way, of course.
biggrin Donnie: *laughs* Ah, yeah. Me too...sorry.
xd Maiya: *thinks of topics of conversation* Okay, so do you have any ideas about what the story will be about?
Donnie: Hm, maybe a fantasy story. With uh...magic and stuff.
Donnie: Hmm...I don't know, got any ideas?
Maiya: Maybe a rotting of the world? *thinks* Nah, too Final Fantasy I.
xd Donnie: Rotting of the world.
xd Well, maybe we can modify it a bit...
Maiya: Yeah, if we could modify it then it's usable.
3nodding Donnie: We'll think of something. *grins*
Maiya: Yep! In the end we'll think of something. ^^
Donnie: Sometimes story plots just...come to me...like in...dreams and stuff.
Maiya: Sara said that to me once. She also said that characters have the tendency to get up and walk around on thier own.
3nodding Donnie: *laughs* Yeah...yeah they do...It can be good, or bad I guess.
Maiya: Yeah, I can imagine it now- you have a set ending in mind and your characters stand up and say, "No way!" and change the ending on their own.
xd Donnie: *laughs* Yeah...or you can't get their voices out of your head, so you just have to keep writing stuff down.
Maiya: Sara said that's happened too. Only it's more like she imagines her characters yelling at her to finish the story. ^^
Donnie: Yeah...*chuckles* maybe something like that will happen...*hopes that if it does the characters will be good*
Maiya: So what kind of characters should we have?
Donnie: Someone that other namrah will be able to relate to, for the main character. And for every protagonist, there's an antagonist somewhere.
Maiya: An important thing to do is to humanize the antagonist. Give him a reason for what he does. I like stories that make that extra effort.
biggrin Donnie: Of course, with no motive, the story wouldn't make any sense.
Maiya: Unless the guy was the embodiment of evil bent on taking over or blowing up the world, which I think is overdone.
3nodding Donnie: But
why is he evil? Did something happen to him as a child? Was he created that way?
Maiya: Exactly. Those are the kinds of questions that will most likely be going through the readers' mind. ^^
Donnie: Which is always a good thing to think about while writing. "What are some questions the readers might ask?"
Maiya: I think it's also good to try to predict what the readers will predict so you can avoid going in that direction. Otherwise it takes a bit out of the quality of the story. =D
Donnie: *nods* Good point, good point. You know, I've never really written anything I expected anyone to read before. I usually just write for my own enjoyment.
Maiya: I'm sure it'll be a good experience writing with the idea that others will read it. =D
Donnie: Yeah, it will be good for me.
Maiya: Yep! ^^ And this is the first time I've ever illustrated a book, so it's a good chance for me to grow as an artist too. =D
Donnie: It will be good for both of us then. ^^
Maiya: Yep. ^^
Donnie: Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow, Maiya. *smiles* It's getting kind of late...
Maiya: *looks at the sky* Yeah, it is. I'll see you tomorrow then. ^^ *hugs Donnie before leaving*
Donnie: *blushes and hugs her back* Yeah, see ya.
