"Nonono I DUN WANNA!"

People were actually poking their heads out of windows to see what the commotion was about as Joseph held tightly onto a squirming, screaming Ellery, trying to act like nothing was happening that was out of the ordinary. The faun child had been like this for roughly an hour, ever since he had learned that he was being forced to go with his daddy to go see his daddy's stupid mean boyfriend. Knowing that this storm would come, Joseph had taken precautions to tell Ellery when he wasn't on the ground so he couldn't decimate a city block. So far it had worked, though possibly at the expense of his ribs; hooves hurt.

Sighing, Joseph adjusted his grip, grabbing Ellery by his collar and shaking him slightly, a diplomatic smile on his face. "Okay, okay, I get it, you don't want to go. But you gotta." He winced as more shrieking was made in response to this statement, but added as soon as he could. "But. But how about this? I'll get you that toy truck you wanted if you go and be nice. How's about that?"

Just like Joseph had predicted, the idea of a reward changed Ellery's mood completely. He immediately stopped thrashing, smiling what he thought was the most innocent and complacent way. Anything to get that neat dump truck. With a laugh, Joseph nodded and placed him gently on the ground, enjoying the silence as he walked the rest of the way to his boyfriend's house.

When they arrived, Ellery was very offended to learn that his daddy meant to abandon him. He was left on his own in the first room as Joseph went off in seek of Quentin, a stupid look on his face. Ellery privately hoped that he never made that face about anyone. Left to his own devices, he soon took to exploring the strange house, quickly drawn to the noises of gunfire and shouting. He was fascinated and a little afraid to learn that those noises, which usually meant that he needed to hide at home, were coming from a glowing box, which he stared at in amazement for about a full minute before noticing the small girl watching it. He stared at her for a minute, taking in her black skin and cool horns, before he pointed at the box, one ear flicking. "Wassat?"
