This is our discussion forum.

Feel free to talk about almost anything vocaloid related here. Also, older dessication topics in the main forum may also wind up here form time to time so if a discussion topic goes missing there it most likely got moved here unless it's a dead topic. Dead topics go into our archive section, though I don't normally consider a topic dead unless there is not way the topic can go on.

An example of a dead topic would be the poll we did when forming this guild. As the vote is over, there is no point in keeping it up for discussion but it still it has value on the guild for referencing purposes. Therefore I archived it. You might notice that this archiving is not the kind of thing I have to do often as most topics are generally always open for discussion.

That seems like a good idea. The more discussion the better. However, I also want to keep this site easy to navigate and without to many sub forums. After sleeping on it, I think I came up with a way to put this forum on the site without adding an extra sub form though.

I was thinking seance the game guide is so linked into itself and no one really looks at it anyway. I think it no longer needs its own sub forum. So I started thinking why not move that into the archives. I could still work on it there and make it functional when I have time to focus on it. Also, some of the discussion topics in the guide might get better noticed If I placed them in a discussion forum of some kind anyway. Of course I would also have to redefine the archives to include our game guide and not just old posts.

Then after moving all these posts, we could then put your new forum in where the game guide was.

Also to avoid confusion I was thinking of naming this forum
Vocaloid discussion and the thread your suggesting off Discussion or something (ok mabe well need name ideas). After all, we do need to avoid creating repeat topics.

Also, I thought it might help this discussion if I posted this section from the best practice guide here off the captains 2.0 guild. This is what I'm primarily focused on using as a guide to improve things here right now. I could be wrong but I think GD stand for Guild Discussion. Now that I look at it again, I think I can think of a few more things on this guild that need work. Well, I'll keep chewing on it and I hope it also sparks ideas and suggestions.

Quote:
the 10 Commandments of Subforums

1. The main forum is for GD, thou shalt not have any other subjects before GD.
2. Thou shalt not use random characters in the titles of subforums. All of thine subforums' titles shalt be grammatically and literately correct.
3. Thou shalt not allocate multiple subjects to any one subforum.
4. Thou shalt not use names that make no sense.
5. Thou shalt not allocate the main forum to only news and announcements, thereby shunning GD to a subforum (thou art excepted from this rule if thou doth not have GD in thy guild).
6. Thou shalt not use subforums for subjects that are sub-categories of other subforums.
7. Thou shalt not have a Crew-only subforum, lest it be absolutely and unavoidably necessary.
8. Thou shalt not make subforums unnecessarily - e.g. for announcements.
9. Thou shalt not have separate subforums for similar/repeated subjects - e.g. "Chat," "Spam," "General Discussion," "Polls" and "Hangout threads," lest thou be thought a loser.

Now that I think about it again, maybe it would be best to redefine this area's goal instead to more wider discussion instead of just vocaloid discussion. 2 discussion topics (one biased on vocaloid and one not) would be 2 similes topics and according to that guide I just listed that is also bad.

maybe we just fuse the tow forums, and let people in this forum talk about stuff both on-topic and off-topic. makes it easier and saves money.

More importantly then money, it helps avoid confusion so people don't get frustrated trying to figure out where to post some topics. Frustration = people giving up on posting.

Guilds with to many sub forums are hard to navigate. I read that a guild with 0-6 forums gain value as they gain forums but once you start getting to much over 7 they start to lose value. This is because a lot of sub forums are hard to navigate and that is why I want to avoid creating more. We have plenty of guild gold for that kind of thing if its really needed but I think it would be gold wasted.

Organization seems to be the biggest issue on this guild right now. I want to correct that. Easy navigation, and easy knowing where to post are the goals.

I do think that a new "what is this area" section needs to be written here to let people know that this area is now open for much wider discussion.

I have to get ready for work right now, so it will have to sadly wait until I get back if someone else does not choose to handle it.

Of course once that topic is done, this current topic would no longer be relevant and would be confusing to leave here. So I would just move it to the archives as I feel this topic is valuable in itself.

Well I keep writing to much, got to go later.
