User ImageName: Carolina Oliveira

Nickname: Carole, Lina

Age: 17

Birthday: May 2nd

Sign: Taurus

Gemstone: Emerald

Blood Type: AB

Fav. Food: Açaí na tigela

Hated Food: Dried squid. Have you ever tried it? It's horrifying.

School: Meadoview High School

Hobbies:

Flower Gardening - Carolina loves flowers. They are so beautiful and vibrant and every flower is unique. Carolina is continually amazed that humans have the ability to grow such beautiful life forms. Carolina started gardening as soon as she was old enough to hold a trowel. She started out helping her father tend his vegetable garden, but when he noticed that she had much more of an attraction for flowers and had a good eye for complimentary colours, he dug Carolina her first flower garden and things just took off from there. Carolina’s gardens were the envy of the neighbourhood in Brazil and she hopes to rebuild that reputation in Destiny City. This will prove to be a challenge as Carolina's host family had an atrocious mess of a garden when she arrived. Carolina is not well versed in American plant-life so much of her time is spent in research and attending Garden Club meetings after school. It will be a long road, but Carolina will bring beauty to life once more.

Shopping - Carolina loves beauty, so naturally she loves making herself beautiful too. An afternoon well spent is one spent inside an air-conditioned mall with a bag of new shoes in one hand and an iced latte in the other. Every event is an occasion to buy a new outfit. Heaven forbid she be seen in public wearing the same outfit twice! Carolina is fortunate she's an only child - her parents couldn't afford her tastes otherwise!

Playing Pool - Carolina is a natural at pool, and she knows it. She loves the game, but she loves drawing a crowd even more. Unwitting victims laugh when Carolina challenges them to a match, but if you listen to her boasts, Carolina hasn’t lost yet. She claims to have never paid for her soda or fries yet, either. Carolina’s learned that a confident attitude and a little white lying can throw an opponent off balance, making victory that much easier. Although her record is far from perfect, Carolina is more than happy to let you believe it is.

Playing pool is a relaxing experience for Carolina. She can do it mindlessly, and yet she’s constantly calculating angles and trajectory in her head. It’s a form of meditation for her and if Carolina’s had a bad day, you can bet you’ll find her with a pool cue in her hand.

Carolina’s ability to mentally calculate angles has given her a certain advantage in geometry, though you’ll never find her bragging about that.

Flirting - This is truly a hobby for Carolina. She adores attention, particularly male attention. She flaunts her beauty and lays on the charms to every male specimen she encounters, attached or otherwise. She anticipates having a lot of fun with this in Destiny City. No one can resist a girl with a foreign accent, after all. Especially not one as pretty as Carolina.

Virtues:

Takes initiative -- Carolina is never one to sit back and wait for events to unfold. She always takes the first step towards any action, no matter what the nature of it. Nothing good comes from procrastinating, in fact, situations often get worse if you let things fester. If the teacher asks for a volunteer to present to the class first, Carolina's hand is up. If there's a scary cave that needs investigating, Carolina's the first in, armed with a flashlight and a large stick.

Carolina tries to inspire others to action and she knows that the best way to accomplish this is to lead by example. She may not always set the best example, but at least she sets events into motion.

Driven/Motivated -- Carolina knows what she wants and she won't stop until she has it. She has a limitless source of energy and drive, pushing her to achieve her goals. Often this manifests as the drive to get that perfect dress no matter what, but Carolina can channel her energy into more worthwhile goals, and when she does, watch out.

Charming -- Carolina comes armed with a beautiful face and a winsome smile. She's quick to hand out compliments and always has a kind word to spare. Her body language oozes self confidence and there’s always a smile in her eyes. Carolina also has an uncanny ability to remember names. These traits combined make Carolina an easy person to like. Though her charm is rather superficial, Carolina uses this ability to get what she wants from people or to gain favour from people that she believes she could manipulate and lead.

Flaws:

Arrogant -- Arrogant -- Carolina can be rather imperious at times. She views herself as worthy of a leadership position and, as such, people should obey and follow her. Her opinion is the right opinion and her plan is the best one. This is partially due to being an only-child to doting parents. Carolina was raised as the spoiled princess of the household. She was given anything she wanted anytime she wanted it and the compliments and praises were heaped on, which lead to an inflated sense of self-worth. She doesn’t care what other people think of her because she knows that her opinion is the only one that truly counts.

Carolina’s arrogance, unfortunately, gets in the way of her being a truly effective leader. One can’t expect to lead a flock of blind sheep. Other peoples’ opinions and suggestions must be given fair consideration, even if they conflict with your own, which is something that Carolina is not always able to bring herself to do. This trait is as unlikely to bring about loyal followers as it is to foster friendship. Carolina seeks out people she can easily manipulate, but not those that she could call true friends. She cares more about her own success and happiness than that of other people.

Impulsive -- Carolina's drive and motivation can sometimes lead to rash and hasty action. When Carolina wants something done, she wants it done now, consequences be damned. She's not much of a planner. Her motto is most definitely measure once, cut twice. Carolina's emotional responses to situations are also rather impulsive. If she's unhappy about something, you'll know about it. You couldn't quite call it a temper tantrum, but there are some things our spoiled princess hasn't quite grown out of yet.

Promiscuous -- At times, Carolina takes her ability to charm others too far. She’s managed to cultivate for herself a rather nasty reputation and, unfortunately, this reputation is not entirely untrue. Carolina is a flirt and genuinely enjoys the company of males. With such a wide variety of interesting people available, particularly in this new city and country, why should she anchor herself to only one person? Carolina flits from boyfriend to boyfriend, often without a second thought. Her actions have made some girls jealous and have left some men heartbroken and bitter. Whoops!

User ImageSenshi: Sailor Ceres, Senshi of the Basin

Challenge: All waters flow to your destruction!

Attacks:

Sailor Scout Attack: Ceres Water Bomb Burst!
Sailor Ceres gathers water from all nearby sources and channels the water into a ball. She throws this ball at the enemy, causing them slight damage and distraction. The size of the ball, and therefore the power of the attack, is directly proportional to the amount of water available.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Ceres Water Bomb Ignite!
Sailor Ceres gathers a ball of water between her hands and throws this ball at the enemy, causing damage and providing a distraction. Sailor Ceres can use this ability to summon multiple small water balls, but each successive summoned ball is smaller than the last until all she can manage is a slow trickle.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Ceres Eternal Water Explosion!
Sailor Ceres summons five large water balls that encircle her foe and converge, creating a large blast that causes massive destruction.

looks nice, you've got some solid writing skills.

one thing, though: aren't the girls supposed to be brazilian? I picture the quartet being very exotic girls from the amazon, and "Carolina Fischer" just seems so hoidy-toidy average to me. It's my understanding, iirc, that portuguese is the language spoken, written, and used the most over there? Carolina is a fine name, but Fischer just doesn't seem like the kind of family name you'd hear coming out of Brazil.

Just my opinion, and she is your character after all, so feel free to disregard me.

Thanks~

Actually, I had this discussion with Rose last night. I googled common Brazilian surnames and Fischer, though it's of German origins, is a common name there. I know it sounds rather common, but I didn't want to go over the top with her name.

This is the source I used in particular.

Edit: Upon further consideration though, maybe I'll change the name. You're the second person to ask about it, which leads me to believe more people will. As I told Rose last night, I'm not set on the name Fischer, so I'm more than happy to change it if it'll improve my character.

Hi, coda here, this is looking good so far, I think -- my only question is, how do you plan on incorporating her gardening hobby in Destiny City exactly? <3 Does her host family or whatnot have a garden for her to work with, or does she plan on joining a club?

Ah, good question. I was imagining her growing her own garden. Maybe her host family has an ABYSMAL garden and she can't keep her hands off. I didn't even think about a gardening club. Thanks for the food for thought. I'll consider this more.

If you need any help with Brazilian culture just ask, I'm Brazilian and lived here my whole life. <3

We have names and surnames from everywhere, this is a policultural nation, though some states make immigrants change their surnames slightly to something easier to pronounce and write. Fischer is commonly heard, we have an artist named Vera Fischer, politician André Fischer, but the Fichers are are a family, a very rich and powerful family, not a common name. Names can be strange here though, I've met a Schmidt and a Romankevicius, to name the most bizzare.

Carolina Oliveira sounds beautifull, you chose well. ^^

Playing Pool: "Carolina challenges them to a round, but she hasn't lost yet. She hasn't paid for her soda or fries yet, either." In all honesty, I encourage you to avoid making her perfect at pool -- losing makes for fun RP! =D Hobbies in this shop are what other people use to draw ideas for RP from.

Or has she not have had to pay for fries or soda since coming to Destiny City? Having her wager a lunch on a pool game would be pretty fun for RP. :3

Charming: "Carolina has an uncanny ability to remember names and she's able to ingratiate herself with people in positions of authority with ease. Carolina is a very easy person to like."

The bolded part seems a bit too twinky/godmoddy to me. I honestly doubt she could get along with Queen Beryl or General-King Charonite, or Wiseman, or any of our current faction leaders. How is she a very easy person to like? What does she get from being charming? Does she want to get on everyone's good side? Why? Does she like being in the leader position, and has decided that being nice = people like you = easier to lead? That would tie into her Arrogant flaw VERY nicely.

Ceres Water Bomb Ignite! Your attack needs to be either a large ball of water, or multiple balls of water. Is this attack also dependant on the amount of water available?

You're almost there! =D

Thanks for the crit!

Playing pool: Hmm, well I didn’t mean to write her as perfect, just cocky. I’ll work on rewording it. I did think that it would make for some interesting stories, with challenging other people to play or even teaching others to play.

Charming: For the people of authority part I meant teachers/employers more than the powered characters. My idea for the whole charming aspect is that it’s pretty superficial. “Does she like being in the leader position, and has decided that being nice = people like you = easier to lead?” pretty much exactly describes it. What I mean by “a very easy person to like” isn’t necessary everyone likes her, but rather that she’s likeable. Like, always smiling, laughing, complimenting, etc. That kind of person is easier to like than one who is withdrawn and quiet.

I’ll definitely work on those points though, thank you.

Edit: There, I did some small tweaks, but I think I touched on everything you mentioned.

The issues Maru touched on seem mostly fixed. I'm almost willing to stamp, but just a few things as food for thought:
- with her ease at calculating angles and speed, does this transfer over into a good ability at maths and/or physics? I think it would be fun if the flirty spoilt-princess was actually a little bit of a nerd at something (and maybe worked at hiding it, or uses her promiscuous reputation to make people think she's getting those grades by flirting with the teacher)
- I'd possibly make it more obvious that she's lying about having never lost at pool? As it is now, it sounds less like she's boasting/lying and more like you're covering yourself
- I'm seeing conflict between "Carolina is a natural born leader" and "She views herself as a worthy leader and, as such, people should obey her. Her opinion is the right opinion and her plan is the best one." One of these things is not like the other... Not to say the two traits can't work, but they either need some re-wording, or a little tweaking - maybe Carolina has great potential as a leader that isn't quite there yet due to her arrogance?

Okay, I rewrote the Playing Pool part, hopefully changing it a little more now to suit the recommendations.

Hmm, I'll have to think a bit about the discrepancy between "natural born leader" and how she views herself as a leader. In the former I meant more in terms of leader vs. follower. I think you've nailed it with the potential to be a leader suggestion...I'm trying to play off the fact that CereCere often led the Amazoness Quartet, but she's not the true leader of the group, Sailor Chibi Moon is. She has leadership qualities, but she's not quite up to par.

I'll keep working at it, thank you for the crit~

Edit: There, I think I've managed to fix things...I just took out the "natural born leader" line, because I really don't think it's necessary in that context. It's obvious that she's not a follower, simply by the fact that she takes initiative.

It would probably be to the best to cut out any mention of her past life in her profile, since there's no guarantee she'll remember it over the course of this game. XD It's a nice touch to consider her Dead Moon Circus identity when writing her profile, but a bit of a faux pas to directly reference it in such a way. <3

I'd recommend changing the wording in her pool hobby a bit, right now it sort of reads off like she's totally undefeated at the game -- and as a general rule of thumb, you should never make a character "best" at anything because it's really godmodish and unfair to other players. You can still have her be remarkably GOOD at pool, but don't make her invincible at it, otherwise the RP potential of that hobby is really unappealing since all it looks like that'll happen is the other characters watching as Carolina Win-Win-Wins.

In general, I'd suggest you be more careful about her being too good at too many things, right now she's a math whiz, has a fantastic sense of color coordination and is irresistably pretty and knows how to look it? That's a bit too much for one character in an RP setting, but what you can do is focus on One Thing She Is Good At and tone down the others so she's still interested in them, but not amazing at them -- keeping in mind that she should not be infallible even at her greatest skill.

Giving her a shtick with her hobbies would also help to give you more direction with her virtue and flaw sets. If you want her to be charming and charismatic, focus on her interest in her looks so it's all rounded off with good presentation, and then her flaws can reflect that she tends to use her charm in all the wrong ways -- e.g. expand on her Promiscuous flaw, right now it seems a bit tacked on and could be presented more tastefully, maybe go a route with her generally trying to use her looks and charisma to get what she wants, not just male company? Is it possible she's a little spoiled, gets a little demanding and pissy when it doesn't work? This would add some more depth to her character and allow more RPability in general with the personality you have set up.

To recap: don't say she wins all the time, pick ONE thing she's good at and stick to it, and carry that interest / skill and how she uses it through her personality description - how does this make her likable, admirable and intelligent? How does it make her UNlikable, UNadmirable and UNintelligent? You have some good basics, it just needs a little more work to tie it together and make it more RP viable! <3
