But you know what? The fact that the Frontier Brains cheat the absolute worst of any and all trainers, and the fact that a chunk of trainers cheat there anyway; it doesn't change the fact that I might probably want to burn the place down once I'm done with it.
Oh, but the worst of the lot is Thorton. Recently, I would've had him. Starmie curbstomps a Shellgon, I repay it in kind with an Electabuzz. Torterra stomps it. Gorebyss repays THAT in kind with a couple of Ice Beams (A berry saved it the first time). Glaceon's the last one. Rain Dance to give myself speed, since I know it'll be faster. It Double Teams. Ok, Now that I have some speed, Psychic should have a chance... (as I'm faster now); Nope, barking up the wrong tree. Two Double Teams (and failed Psychics) later, I get Ice Beam'd and FROZEN! I end up dying two Ice Beams later.
Were it not for the game deciding that ANY amount of increased evasion meaning you'll NEVER hit the Frontier Pokemon because it's the AI, that Glaceon would've died; horribly.
So, yeah, care to say the Brains don't cheat? Then you have NO IDEA OF WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!
My Mismagius would've LOVED that team of Thorton's, by the by. Yes, it would've SO loved that team....

Come to think of it, I remember hearing that from Platinum and onward, the game makers wanted them to be more difficult than the previous games. At least wherever competitive battling would be involved.
Yes, my issue with the new games is that ALL my opponents awaken on the turn directly after I put them to sleep, and mine won't wake sooner than about seven turns, because they took away the min/max turns for sleep this time around. And I'm getting a little fed up with being forced into impossible situations, which is why I only play occasionally now.

The absolute worst is evasion/accuracy, since ANYTHING less than 100 Accuracy is likely never to hit an opponent, and any instance of Flash or Double Team from the opponent, or their 'Mon having a BrightPowder, will almost ensure that you will NEVER touch them outside of Never-miss moves. So imagine my dread when that Glaceon applied THREE Double Team layers.

Meant in general... and in spite of that, the DT haxing from Emerald Frontier wasn't rediculously bad like Sleep in these new ones. ^^;
I dunno though...

It may have went to evasion in the newer games, all things considered. After all, you're doomed to fail if you're using Thunder without a Rain Dance to back it up, for example; and pray your opponent isn't something that gets its own benefit from the rain.

It's always been that way. Unless I have Swift Swim, I never use Thunder; I just stick on TBolt instead. Rain Dance takes a turn I'd rather spend either hitting or defending (like Subs), or that kind of thing. Unless I absolutely have to have that Electric attack (and absolutely has to be Thunder, instead of TB), I kinda feel like RD is a waste, unless as I said, I'm using Swift Swim.

Rain Dish being the only other use for it, but you'd need something like Ludicolo for that. What about Sunny Day and its abilities with Solar Beam and a few abilities found on Grass Types?

Ditto, unless I'm using Groudie (which I'm not), or I absolutely know I won't run into something that'll use it to hurt me (the odds are usually against me in this case). About the only weather effect I really like is Sandstorm. And yes, I use Ludicolo a lot. ^_^ And I've found out Swift Swim > Rain Dish, if you equip Lefties in tandem with Sub/ Leech Seed. I prefer to be faster in this situation, than to worry over the extra 8% from Dish. I will say, however, that in-game at least, I have a small appreciation for the extended weather effects of new items. Somewhat usable, but I doubt I'd use it in a human-v-human battle.

Shall I tell a tale about one of my Trainer House trainers (obtained via the PokeWalker) who has a team of SIX Legendaries; Arceus, Mewtwo, Lugia, Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos. Poor Mewtow, cried when Umbreon confronted it, since its only attack move of Psycho Cut did nothing to him. Also, yeah... took ALL his team to kill half of mine. I should tell that kid his team has a massive Rock/Electric weak when I next see him. FOUR FLYING TYPES!

Well, yeah, but I tend not to care about bans outside of Frontier/ Tower/ whatever. I mean, sometimes I prefer the freedom of playing the game as the game makers made it.
That being said, I'm veeerrrrrrry grateful that such a ban exists in competitive play. It's something you only want to get into if you plan it.

Gotta keep the game somewhat balanced and fun, you know? I mean, remember how in Gen. 1, you'd NEVER touch a team that didn't have Mewtwo, the birds, and at least Alakazam? Mew if you were able to get him too.
