High-functioning Hellraiser

The high set sun glared through the canopy of the trees which only let small rays of light through here and there. It was perfect, at least for her, because it gave her what she wanted in some sense. Being someone who usually traveled by the light of the moon, the sun was something Nikita rarely got to see unless she stayed up until sun rise, and even then she never stayed long enough to see the full rise of the great ball of heat and fire. Besides that, making a choice to travel by night did not come without its cons, and those cons were not the best things to come upon, especially if they felts “playful” or hungry, or maybe they were just downright bored and territorial.
Either way, the bright coated mare had made her choice to see what life by day was like, again. The last time she would romp around in the sun was when she was a foal, and even then those memories seemed miles away.
“At least it is better for my health, though, I am not sure if an increased chance of running in to idiots would be better for my mental health…”
The mare gave a roll of her eyes and a snort, her bright golden eyes scanning the little windows the trees and branches made that looked out in to the surrounding meadows and plains.

 The stallion gave a rather large yawn before shaking his head letting the thick curls bounce the small leaves from his night’s sleep flutter slowly to the ground. He was still a little disoriented, having little interest in waking up so earlier but the small bird above his head wouldn’t leave its voice twitting happily of a new day. Ahote rose a brow as he stared at the small black flecked white bird before picking up his feet and nudge himself to move towards the small stream that ran though the thicket of trees. His light brown eyes looked around the small meadow before staring into the shadows of the trees, true he needed some water his mouth was parched but he still felt pretty tired maybe shuffling further down away from the bird would be better, no one else was around or so he thought.
The bird gave another thrilling song as Ahote snorted at it, “really, is it necessary to be so happy in the morning?” He replied before stretching his legs out a bit more, the stiffness still confining him to the new spot. Maybe he should be a little glad, if the bird woke him Viski wouldn’t have a chance to pounce on him while he was still sleeping. She had the bad habit of swooping down from the sky and landing next to him letting the cool air and her wings send shudder’s down his back. Her rather overly cheerful voice, much like the bird, would respond rather cheerfully to him nudging him to wake up. He hated those morning wake up calls.
