For once, Calix was expecting Snow to come visit him, as they had already planned out this meeting. Typically he was startled by her sudden appearances, but this time he was prepared. He'd agreed and promised her that he would spend some time teaching her how to draw, though it disrupted his typical schedule, at least this time there was less of a possibility of getting in trouble for being in awkward situations.

His ears flicked as he trotted along the bushes, picking berries for the lesson. Blackberries, raspberries, ripe or rotten, they all tumbled into his bag, but he was careful not to pick any that would be poisonous. Knowing Snow, she was likely to the be the type to ingest something she shouldn't and he didn't want to risk her getting sick. Though he'd gotten ill from eating the wrong fruits several times, he didn't want to have to take care of someone else, though it was more that he found himself incapable of taking care of someone else.

As a yearling, his mother had watched over him whenever he got sick and eventually he'd learned which berries to avoid eating, but he didn't think he could do the same thing for another. Taking care of someone meant crossing uncomfortable boundaries that he'd like to stay far away from.

His mind wandered from one topic to the next as he moved along the bushes, wondering when Snow was going to pop up suddenly. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for her arrival. He'd be calm whenever she showed up, no matter what direction she came from or where it turned out she was hiding.

He snorted to himself, sniffing at the berry bush in front of him as his eye searched for any stray blues that belonged to the girl's pelt.

"Snow..." he murmured quietly, crouching to peek beneath the bushes in case she had decided to hide there. "You here?"

Snow didn't know she bothered Calix so much when she snuck up on him; or appeared out of nowhere like that. It was just what Snow felt she had to do in order to play with Calix. Cause if he saw her coming he'd probably try and act like she wasn't there so she wouldn't bother him. Plus! It was fun to freak him out with out touching him. And no one else she knew could sneak up on him like that... so maybe that made her special??

She was actually hiding on the other side of the field; not so much hiding as she was making sure Calix was ready before she came. Even though he'd told her to come when the sun was at a certain hieght in the sky; she'd been excited ALL DAY. How could she not be? Calix didn't teach anyone else how to paint or draw! She was special!

Snow kept in her giggles and laughter at that thought and watched Calix crouch down to look under a bush. She tilted her head and moved her ears forward to try and listen to what he was saying. Had he just said her name? He was being too quiet!!

She pouted and got up onto her hooves; shaking out her fur and her hair of any dirt or leaves or bugs. She made her way up to Calix quietly; on his blind side to make sure he couldn't see her out of his peripheral vision. Smiling widely the whole time before getting up close enough to him; to not be touching and saying curiously. "What are you looking for Calix? Want me to help!?"

Calix was calm, perfectly calm, that was until Snow popped out of nowhere, as was the usual. He froze, tail going straight up as he tensed, wanting to regain his composure before he looked over at her.

"How nice to see you again Snow," he chuckled, shaking his head slowly, his eye still looked on the berry bush before him. He slowly straightened up, shaking off his paranoia before casting a glance her way.

"I happened to have been looking for you," he snorted, tossing his head so his curly pigtails bobbed about. "So no help is necessary," he laughed to himself, watching her.

She was far too sneaky, how did she keep startling him like that? Most herla he'd met at least made themselves known when they were approaching him. He had a harder time noticing others due to the lack of a second eye and it was clear that she used this to her advantage.

"I was gathering berries though... For the lesson," he said, gesturing to the bushes with his nose before pointing to his open bag. "What is it that you'd like to learn to draw?"

Snow felt extremely pleased with herself when Calix didn't freak out about her coming out of nowhere. It's like she didn't even bother him anymore. She was so proud of Calix! Getting over that phobia of her being around so well.

She looked up at him with a slight disbelief as he told her he'd been looking for her. "Really?" She squeaked at him. That was a first. "Why? I'm not late am I?" She asked her eyes widening slightly at the thought. Was she late. She looked up at the sky and saw that the sun didn't seem to far up there... she didn't think she was late.... But when he laughed she eased up and smiled a bit more relaxed at him.

Snow moved towards the bush and stuck her head in looking for the specific colors she wanted. She already knew what she wanted to drawn. She wanted to draw Calix becuase she thought he was so awesome someone needed to do it.

She chomped down on a branch that seemed to have more berried then she would even need and pulled her head back out of the bush. She strained a few moments until the branch finally broke and she fell backwards on her butt. @_@

She took a moment to not be dizzy and more and looked up at Calix the branch still in her mouth and a smile around the branch. "I want to draw you Calix!" She managed to mumble around the branch.

A snort escaped him as he gazed upon her, "Yes, really..." He sighed, shaking his head at her, "You aren't late, I just figured you'd be... Early." He rolled his eye, scuffing at the dirt with his hoof as he noticed her worried look. "Is it really a surprise that I was looking for you? This was planned ahead of time..."

Calix's ears flicked as he watched her break off a branch heavy with berries and he frowned, wanting to get a closer look to make sure they weren't poisonous. He bit his lip, giving a slight shrug as he was pretty sure there weren't any berry bushes that were toxic in this particular area.

He laughed, worries fading as she fell on her rump. Taking a hesitant step forward, he nosed at her side. "You alright?" He grinned, raising an eyebrow. He didn't think he knew any herla as clumsy as her, of course growing up around his mother made that a bit difficult as she stressed the importance of looking graceful.

He blinked, torn from his thoughts as he heard his name, "You... Want to draw me?" His eyebrows knit together, a slight frown appearing on his face. "Well I can't really teach you to draw me specifically... But I can give you some tips on how to draw faces?" He sighed, tail wiggling slightly as he pawed at the earth, positive that she would react disappointed to what he'd just said.

"Are you sure you want to draw me?"

Snow shook her head when he said he'd thought she'd be early. "No; I didn't want to make you mad by getting here early." She told him getting up onto her legs now and shaking out her body once more. "And if you knew I was coming... why were you looking for me?" She asked tilting her head after having put the branch down on the ground and looking up at him again.

"Of course I want to draw you Calix! Cause no one else can! So I want to be the first! Cause then that will mean I'll be the best for a while!" She said nodding her head. Her sisters were all the best at something in her eyes; she wanted to be good at something too. When he told her he couldn't really teach her that she frowned slightly her ears going down as she started to think up a solution to that.

"Well... I have to learn to draw faces... and then bodies... so maybe when I think I'm good enough; I'll try and draw you. And that will be the test to show if I'm really any good at all." She was actually serious for a moment at the prospect of more lessons. It was extremely exciting in her eyes. Although she couldn't understand why Calix seemed so disbelieving on the fact that she wanted to draw him... "Why wouldn't I Calix? You're the perfect Model in my eyes!"

She looked at him curiously for a second as something struck her. "Hey you just nosed me!" She said in slight disbelief. "You hate touching other herla!" She said laughing lightly and shaking her head. "Sometimes you're so weird Calix."

Calix snorted, raising an eyebrow at her reasoning. He was positive that something like his being upset wouldn't stop her from showing up when she wasn't supposed to. In fact, how she'd managed to pop up for this lesson was proof of that. He sighed at the thought, shaking his head slowly as he looked down at her.

"I was looking for you... So you wouldn't be able to sneak up on me again, but you still managed to do it." He flashed a grin, hiding how he truly felt about the situations he was continually put into by her.

"Oh? So you don't want to be the best because of your skill, but because you're the only one?" He chuckled, peering down at her. "You should work to be the best, you can't be proud of it if it came easily, don't you think?"

He blushed as he listened to her, frowning ever so slightly. "I'm definitely not a perfect model, I don't even have two eyes so I can't be symmetrical at all..." He pawed at the ground, now thinking about all his physical flaws.

That was, until she pointed out that he'd initiated physical contact with her. He blushed, frowning, "Don't worry, I won't do it again..." he murmured, looking away. "I'm not weird and it's not that I hate touch other herla, just that..." He shuffled awkwardly, not wanting to say it.

Snow smiled up at him proudly at that. "But it's fun sneaking up on you Calix. Becuase sometimes I think... If I didn't sneak up on you; you would just ignore me all the time.." She told him nodding her head at that; certain of it really. Because that's really how she felt; if she didn't sneak up on him; he wouldn't want to hang out with her. Though the fact that he'd let her plan on a time to meet him kind of took a shot at that theory. But when you were her age; who needed common sense?

She laughed at that comment about being the best and shook her head. "oh no Calix. I'll never be the best cause you're the best! I mean; I can only hope to be as good as you!" even with depth perception! something she would never actually say to him of course. Because she knew that was a touchy subject with him.

"Who say's you have to look pretty to be perfect? You're a perfect model becuase you won't move around a lot and you won't talk a lot unless I talk to you!" She nodded her head happy with that. "And besides; You are... symmetrical; cause you have that awesome eye patch! That totally makes you perfect in my eyes!"

Snow's eyes widened and she reached out to nose him before stopping and pulling back; replacing the look of uncertainty on her face with a big smile. "You can do it if you want to Calix. I bet Zydra would really like it." When he looked awkward and started shuffling his feet she stopped and bit her lip. "That's ok Calix. You don't have to tell me."

Ignore her? Calix's eyebrows furrowed together at that and he thought about it briefly before shaking his head, his curls bobbing as he did it. He couldn't recall ignoring anyone else, so it would be ridiculous for him to ignore her for such a reason, especially when the change would be a welcome one, though he couldn't help but wonder what gave her that idea...

"That, wouldn't be a very good reason for me to ignore you, as well as the fact that ignoring someone is rude." He snorted to himself at his own words, if his mother ever caught him doing something like that, it'd be off with his head. "So it's not necessary for you to sneak up on me, but..." he said with some reluctance, "you can if that's what makes you happy." He shrugged his shoulders, lying, "I don't really mind it."

"I'm definitely not the best..." he muttered, thinking of all those pieces of paintings and such he'd seen. The guardians had crafted things so, beautifully, in a way that made him a little bit envious. "You need to look at more art... You can't even imagine!" He smiled to himself, thinking about it. The little bits of broken statues, the fragments of aged paper. His eye slowing drifted to her, even what she could do with her ability was far more amazing than what he could do. He sighed to himself, shaking his head slowly, "Oh, but you'll easily be better," he said in a low chuckle.

"Most creatures prefer things that are aesthetically pleasing," he smirked. The idea of him modeling and being perfect seemed absolutely ridiculous. "Finding someone who can remain stationary for a long time isn't exactly a hard thing to do... And my eyepatch would make it more difficult for you to learn how to draw the face."

He tilted his head, ears swiveling as he watched her, shuddering oh so slightly when she moved nearer. "I don't think Zydra would, it'd be improper and there would be no reason behind it." He snorted, looking away, "saying that sort of thing... That won't get you answers."

Snow smiled up at him when he said he wouldn't ignore her... and that she could keep on sneaking up on him if made her happy. That was nice of Calix <3 He was such a good friend. Even though she didn't really believe him when he said that he didn't mind... that sounded kind of fake... Maybe she would try and stop sneaking up on him from now on... But he was always so OUT of it! It was so hard NOT to sneak up on him!!

She tilted her head at that omission. "I think you're the best..." She said quietly... though a bit uncertainly to say the least becuase she wasn't sure what to say when Calix told her she was wrong. When he started talking about other art she got a little excited. "Will you show me that?" She asked him her tail wiggling. "I'd like to see it... where is the art?" She asked looking around; as if that was any indication at all about it's whereabouts.

"You're aesthetically pleasing <3 I think you're the most handsome hart around! Lots of other girls think so too! Why do you think all those other girls want to talk to you all the time? It's not cause you're such an outgoing herla!" She teased laughing a bit at the joke. "And besides... the harder the model; the better I'll get right?" She said nodding her head and stepping closer to him; looking up at him happily. "I think you're the best herla around Calix!"

Snow pawed a the earth nervously and mumbled something about how she likes it when he noses her and stuff; and she hopes he doesn't hear it as soon as she says it so she looks away nervously; her face heating up for once instead of lowering. "Calix..." She looked up at him and then mentally shook her head deciding against that. "Let's start drawing.. should I go get anything?"

"I'm certainly not the best, I'm sure you could meet new herla that could easily replace me for that title." He shook his head, thinking of all the herla he'd met so far, and their amazing abilities, including Snow. "The guardians... Back when they were alive, they made amazing things. I've seen several pieces when exploring about, if I were to show you them..." Calix sighed, hanging his head, "You'd definitely think they were better than I could ever be." He chuckled to himself at that, thinking about it, "They are all over the place, I could show you sometime... some of them provide pretty good shade too."

He bit his lip, thinking of a broken statue, an angel was what his guardian described it as. It was shattered now, pieces lying about everywhere, all that was left intact was the torso and a huge pair of wings that provided good cover. Vines and weeds had overgrown the place, but it would be a safe enough place to take her to.

His hooves pawed at the dirt beneath him, growing edgy, despite the fact that what she'd said was a compliment. Certainly if she saw what was underneath his eyepatch, she wouldn't think that at all. He flicked his ears, snorting loudly as he thought of all the people he conversed with, sure some of them may talk to him because of his looks, but he couldn't imagine that was the reason most of them approached him.

"Because I'm in the way, because I approached them first?" He muttered to himself, thinking it over. "But, since you're just starting out, it'd be better if you worked with an easier model."

When she trailed off after saying his name like that, he tilted his head, looking her over curiously. His ears swiveled before he gave a nod, nudging open the flap of his bag, he'd already prepared all the supplies they would need.

"I have everything, we can start now," he murmured, pulling two pieces of bark out of his bag before dumping out the berries, watching them roll about the grass. "So, to start..." he said, nudging a piece of bark her way. "We're going to crush the berries and start off with a roughly circular shape."

Snow sighed and shook her head. Every time she tried to compliment him he always argued with her; or discounted what she said becuase he felt she hadn't met enough people. To her it didn't matter how many people you knew or have met or have observed; it just mattered what you're own opinion was on the subject. And if people wanted to think it didn't matter as much because they felt you weren't knowledgeable enough... then that was their problem. She looked up at him straight face. "I'm not going to argue with you Calix." She told him acting more mature then she herself thought she was. "I think you're an amazing herla and one of my best friends and you can choose to believe that or not." she finished; her head held high and her shoulders squared to show she meant what she'd just said and that she thought it was very serious as well.

But she would let it die if he would. And when he started talking about the art that they could find she nodded her head; still a bit upset from what she'd just said. "I would like to see them with you; thank you." She replied a bit cold.

She waited for him to get everything out of his bag and tried to help him set things up. She wasn't so sure what she was going to be working on now. Since it seemed to her that Calix really didn't want to be her model; she wouldn't force him into it. Even if she would have really really liked to have been able to draw him. But in the end she supposed it was his decision.

"What do you think I should draw instead of you?" She asked; a bit of the hurt leaking through to her voice as she looked up at him with slightly tired eyes. She suddenly didn't feel her age at all.
