It was time for him to go, time to capture a banu that would ensure his place within the pride. He would leave with the first rays of the sun, but for now he had a mission in mind. He couldn't leave yet, not until he knew that he could come home to his sweetheart. What good would it do to capture another female, to cement his place, if he couldn't have the female he loved waiting for his return.

Gathering his courage, Harb left the den of his parents seeking out the Sultan Aali. He had not spoken to Sunshine yet, but he knew where her heart laid, all that was left was to speak to her father. Harb knew he wasn't above begging if that was what it took to secure Sunshine in his life.

Foot falls were dulled by the sandy ground as the young male approached the Sultan. "Sultan Aali? My name is Harb, son of Misilivuma, I...I wish to speak to you if I may?" He tried hard to keep his voice from cracking with nerves.

Aali watched as the younger males prepared, he knew with the suns first rays many would walk away from the pride. They would go beyond the territory borders and face a wide world of wonders and dangers. Hopefully each would return with success and a banu of his own, a true pad. He wanted nothing less then every single one to come back, his pale blue gaze drifted over each male committing the young faces to memory. He looked over his deep thoughts fading to the back of his mind as he smiled at young Harb.

"Of course, your father is a great Pad, no doubt you're excited to prove your worth as well. Tell me what do you wish to speak of Pesar Harb? Is something troubling you...I know it can be...worrying to leave the pride on such a grand quest." He looked at the young male curiously wondering what he wished to ask. No doubt the boys father had already given him plenty of advice, and warnings, he knew they sounded ominous but these young males had to know what was out there, and how to defend themselves.

"Oh no sir! I mean yes sir..I.." He sighed before taking a deep breath to calm his nerves. His father had said many times that Sultan Aali was a fair and just lion as well as kind. "I am sorry about that. I am not very worried about going on the quest, I know I will make you and my father proud...but there is one thing I must speak to you about before I am gone, I can't..I can't go out there if I know she won't be waiting for me to come back."

Harb winced inwardly, knowing he was bumbling this horribly, but as with most young things the higher the emotions, the more easily they are to become tangled. He had rehearsed this speech a million times in his head, each time the words were smooth and flowing, but standing before him now it took everything Harb had to keep from blurting everything out at once.

"I am sorry, I cannot seem to get my thoughts straight."

He smiled understandingly relaxed even as the younger male fumbled over his words, he slid a paw forward. "Calm yourself Harb, take a deep breath and tell me what it is that seems to have you in such a state? Who won't be waiting for you?" He tilted his head slowly his blue eyes watching with curiosity and compassion. Was the young male worried about his mother, a sister, a friend? Perhaps he already had his eye on a young female and worried that when he returned she would already be banu to another?

He knew that sometimes the bonds and friendships that were made in youth carried over. Certain banu became attached to pesars and then turned to fretting when they left to become pads. Likewise certain pesar set their hearts on having a banu they desired only to leave and return to find her claimed.

Encouraged by the older male's gentle voice and steady smile, Harb took a deep breath before her tried again. "She will be waiting if she has her choice, but I can't leave without being sure. She completes me, makes me a better person." He wasn't sure if he should admit how much she meant to him, but the fear that he might lose her before he had ever really found her drove him.

"She steadies me." Sunshine had given him the gift of his own abilities, the ability to face the futures he foresaw without fear.

"She must be very special, it's good to know what a female means to us, how they make us better. Tell me Harb who is this special banu who's found such a deep niche in your heart? Ask me what you want to ask..." Aali encouraged with a smile, though he already had a suspicion now of what female Harb intended to ask for. His lovely daughters were all growing and soon it would be time for them to find Pads of their own. Harb must have been worried that he would place his daughters before he was able to return from his quest.

Aali liked the male though, he had been raised well, and he knew what he wanted even if he wasn't quite expressing his full desire. Yet hearing his daughters praises like that made the Sultan smile, he wanted each of them to be treasured.

"She is my Sunshine," He gave a slightly dreamy, yet goofy smile at the mention of her nickname. Before her, Harb didn't really care about it being day or night, but then she had taught him the beauty and joy of the sunrise.

When he asked her name, Harb gulped but stood straighter, trying to puff his chest out, "Your daughter Sultan Aali...Shahla. I..I love her sir. She is special, more than anyone I have ever met."

He ducked his head, his voice dropping to a whisper, "I..I see things in my dreams. I have never told her, but I have always seen her beside me. " His father had always told him not to brag about his gift, but this was the Sultan.

Aali had to hold back an amused chuckle at the dreamy expression on the young males face, he was well and truly besotted. He nodded softly when Harb told him his sunshines name...of course Shahla. He thought of his lovely daughter and then looked back at Harb tilting his head. The young male saw things in his dreams? Were they simply hopes and dreams, or could the boy have some ability to see what would be?

"Tell me Harb do you believe your dreams?" He asked softly, seriously wanting an honest answer from the young male be it yay or nay.

Harb shuddered faintly speaking softly, " Oh yes sir. They are very real." He looked up then, his emerald eyes stricken, "I have seen horrible things sir. Banu's beaten to death, my sister blinded and abused by an uncaring pad." He took a deep breath, letting the weight of the horrors roll off him, just as she had taught him.

"Though I have seen good too. I have seen our pride flourish, pesars going away and coming back to create families. I have seen my own family." He blushed then, still at the age the idea of making that family embarrassed him.

Aali was mildly startled by the things the Pesar said, indeed many had happened and no doubt many would happen in the future. He nodded softly watching the male, and the way he spoke of family. He was a respectful male, one who would be good to his daughter, and Aaly respected not only Harb but his parents.

"Then know your dream shall be made real Harb, when you return with a captured female, when you are a Pad then Shahla will be your Banu. In the meantime you must know that she will be here safe with her family, I will let no male claim her until you return. Think of her and let it hasten your journey, but don't dwell so deeply on thoughts of my daughter that you fail to return at all...the rogue lands hold many dangers and distant unfamiliar prides might hold many more."

Green eyes widened in surprise then joy, "Really?! You mean it?! Oh Sultan!" He wasn't really questioning the Sultan, there was just so much hope and joy in his gaze.

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Harb smiled up at the older male, "She shall be my queen, my beybanu for her word helps me guide what I see into what it should be." She had taught him not to fear what he saw, but instead work to change it. "I will be safe Sultan Aali. After all, I've seen it." He cracked a grin, chuckling faintly.

"With your leave sir, I would like to say goodbye to Sunshine before I go."

Aali smiled glad to see the younger males enthusiasm, hopefully it would serve him well, and Shahla would be in good paws. He held back a soft sigh, he was finally placing his beloved daughters, a hard task but one he knew he would have had to face sooner or later. each of his daughters was a precious treasure and his careful placement of them would be an honor to the males who become their Pads.

"Naturally, but remember it's not a real goodbye, it's just until later...when you come back." He smiled and winked at the younger male. With good luck Harb would quickly find and capture a female and return to them.
