The 3D does not refer to the game being for the 3DS, but is actually the game's subtitle. I know that, while there are no 'small' Kingdom Hearts games, this is just one 'D' too many to be what we've all been waiting for so why get excited? Three reasons.
1) Gameplay will finally return to Sora and Riku (the Kingdom Hearts 1 versions)
2) This game will somehow connect 358/2 Days, Coded, and Birth by Sleep (out in September)
3) Due to the increadible power of the 3DS this will be a handheld title with the graphics of a PS2 game.
So far all we have to go on plot wise is a trailer and a few screenshots. The trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D begins with Sora and Riku sitting by a Paopu Tree on Destiny Islands. Riku then disappears in a flash of light. Sora begins to call out for his friend and searches for him around the island. The trailer then displays gameplay at this point, and Sora shown to be able to use the Glide ability. The trailer reverts to another cutscene, with Riku waking up in Traverse Town. He walks into a courtyard only to be attacked by several Heartless, looking up into the sky to see several unconscious Soras raining down from above in an Awakening-like manner. One lands and summons the Keyblade, fighting off the Heartless while the trailer displays more gameplay. A Soldier-like enemy then rises from the ground, but before Sora has a chance to fight the foe, he snaps awake to find himself sitting next to Kairi near the Paopu Tree. The night sky is shown, and the game's logo appears on the screen at this point
Meanwhile the screenshots so far look promising. One shows Riku running through Traverse town's Third District, seemingly confirming him as a playable character. Another shows Sora fighting a Twighlight Thorn in First District, so there will be Nobodys (w00t!), and the last is simply Sora and Riku on the Beach on The Destiny Islands.
That's it so far. Hope your all as PSYCED as I am. Post your thoughts below.
