Persephone

Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter and therefore is the Goddess of the Harvest. She lived with Demeter until Hades abducted her and took her down to the Underworld with him. Here she was forced to become his consort. During this time Demeter searched all over for Persephone, letting the Earth fall into darkness and Winter in her sadness. When the humans were on the verge of starving, Zeus sent Hermes down to the Underworld to force Hades to give Persephone back to Demeter. He grudgingly agreed but gave Persephone a pomegranate, of which she ate 4 seeds, tying her to the Underworld for 4 months every year. During this time, the Earth falls into Winter until Persephone is returned to Demeter again.
While on Earth, Persephone has the power to control plants and make them grow.
