Quin's feet found his way across the land, carefully stepping over cracks and snags, taking him away from dangers and walking down a long, lonely path from the mountains. His feet had to do this because his mind was elsewhere. He'd had the dream again - the one he'd been having for months. The 'crow' dream.

What it could begin to mean, he had no clue. His only surety was that, whatever it meant, it must be important for his body to insist on showing it to him over and over. In lieu of sleeping, thus, he'd decided to take a wander and get some air. He'd walked farther than he'd really set out to do. He was on auto-pilot and it was only now, when he crossed the invisible barrier which led out of Aves territory that something pulled him back to reality.

Surrounding him, in the dark, were many tiny pinpricks of light - flickering, floating luminescence which seemed to be the very eyes of the darkness itself, floating as they did in dark nothingness. Or so it seemed to him. All of a sudden he began to feel a lightening of mood - it was as if the cares of the world rolled from him, his own worries dissolved away, and he felt an inner calm with an accompanying sense of slight detachment from the real world. All this in moments. When it passed he felt a little disoriented, wondering what had come over him, and at the same time he noticed the little lights had all gone out. Come to think on it - wasn't it awfully late in the year for a display from star-bugs?

His thoughts on the matter were dashed away in an instant as he became aware of another nearby. Tilting his head, flaring his nose, he tried to figure out where the other was and what their intent might be...

The young male was in new territory. He'd never explored the foothills of the mountains before, though he made sure to keep to open territory. That was all he needed, he thought glumly, to get himself in to trouble because he inadvertently trespassed over some packs land! No, the fluffy and rather large blue wolf had made that mistake before in the past . . .and he wasn't going to repeat it again.

With each step he took, a soft sound of jingling could be heard. It was this sort of music that constantly followed Antigone, his only companionship outside of his shadow and the fireflies that occasionally greeted him during the spring and summer months. To drift quietly through the world as an over looked creature, to be the wolf the world had forgotten, such was his fate. Every day was the same for Antigone, as it had been while he'd been a pup. Cast aside, rejected because of his simple nature and the odd things that sometimes happened when he wasn't careful.

So he roamed. He had thought he'd found a place to call home, a place of acceptance within Pandemonium . . . but that too had been nothing than a dream. Things fell apart and when all was said and done he had found himself alone. Terribly alone.

Such was his lot in life. Trotting through the woods, the wolf paused as he realized that something was off. Something wasn't entirely right, as if he weren't alone. And he likely wasn't. . . He paused in his walk, the jingling of his bracelets falling quiet as a stillness over came the nearby wood. His tail curled slightly and his ears dropped as he looked around, wondering if whoever was out there was aware of his presence. " . . . hello?" He finally spoke up, his voice surprisingly gentle for his rather large and fluffy stature. "Is someone there?" He tried to sound confident but was sure there was a waver in his voice.

Maybe he was fooling himself . . . Maybe he was just feeling paranoid or hypersensitive to the unfamiliar land in which he roamed. For now, he'd wait . . .and see.

For the tiniest moment Quin thought it was Kalain whom he'd bumped into - something about the way the wolf he could now see held himself, the soft tone of voice. But no, this wolf was an entirely different creature altogether - pale blues and creams, a moon on his brow to match that in the sky and with jewellery which clinked and shone in the pale night light.

Only months ago he might have been startled by the presence of a complete stranger coming so close to the Aves packlands but, by now, he had realised that the woods to the south of the great mountain range which he called home were becoming more and more crowded.

Thus it was with calmness, and yet a little more reserve that he greeted the stranger. "Yes, sorry, I wasn't meaning to startle you or sneak around. I didn't see you there either" Quin came out of the scrubby undergrowth as he spoke, making himself clear. Despite his coat being horrid for blending into green prairie, he found that in dappled woodland the uneven splatters of black and white concealed him well enough to hunt or simply walk quietly by himself, not disturbing even the littlest thing - doubly so at night time.

"I'm Quin" he said by way of greeting, a little shyly, hesitantly, after his collected greeting as though it had been more impersonal - a thing learned by rote.
