So, I've been taking a break off of Gaia for a while because I was just a little bit bored with it. But, since my vacay's over (that means "vacation" in the teen-speak that everyone else in the world seems to understand except me) I'm fully rejuvenated and interested. I'm also still loving poetry. So, I think it's time for our February contest. We'll start early, since January's almost over and my fingers are itching to type this up before I forget it. Now, I think everyone knows about the subject of February's contest. The dreaded L word. Yes. Love. Love, love, love. L'amour. Kissing and hugging and teasing and flirting and wedding rings and dropping the ring in her wine glass and dropping the bride as you carry her out to the limo. And let's not forget the bad wedding photos. I want you to sum up your favorite Valentine's Day memory (doesn't have to be much) and say exactly how you felt. What you did, who you saw, what happened, anything as long as it relates to that specific day. It could've been fifty years ago or last year. It doesn't matter. I mean, as long as you were actually there. Anyway (sigh), rules. 1. Must, must, MUST be involved with Valentine's Day. 1a. Doesn't have to be about love. Maybe a school dance, a breakup, a really great song you listened to during the party you went to, a date, anything. 1b. Please don't make this depressing. It's Valentine's Day. There are some things that are just sacred, 'kay? 2. Can be in any form you want it to be: haiku, limerick, free verse, blank verse, anything. 3. Don't vote for yourself. Again, some things are sacred. 4. This contest will end on February 20th or maybe even earlier. Whenever I get five posts, that is when we will start voting. The voting will last for a day or so and then whoever has the most votes win. The winner will win 2000 gold. 5. Let's try to all have fun and enjoy ourselves this month!
Let's get started!

I don't plan on entering this contest. But to all those who do, if you lose, just remember this before you start throwing a hissy fit because you thought your entry was the best: No matter how bad things may seem, they can't get any better, can't get any worse. That's how things ********' are, so ya better get used to it, nancy. Quit yer bitchin'.

Um...well, not exactly how I would put it, but thank you for summing that up, Dolo. I am disappointed in your lack of participation, but not surprised. I didn't take you as a lovey-dovey poem type, eh? Oh, well. I'll miss your poem--you have an ingenious imagination that really helps you change things up and make them intriguing. Maybe next month, then. All right, this contest is officially open!

I don't care for excuses...there are some of you that plainly just don't do well with love, but if I can squeeze out a poem about love, then dammit, you can too, Coral. I don't care, I didn't say it had to be totally romantic love. Write about the death of a lover or something...I don't particularly care, but this contest will not fail. I will get AT LEAST five responses that are NOT my own! I WILL NOT ACCEPT FAILURE, DAMMIT! I WILL MAKE THIS LAST TO JULY IF I HAVE TO! Excuse me for my mental breakdown, but I have the tendency to have a mini-mental breakdown if I'm pissed about some things. For example, I was kept at school until 3:30 because my dad lost track of freaking time and he has a crappy car and...well, a bunch of other things... So get over it and accomodate me or I KEEL YOU, DAMMIT!

Right, um...I've quite my mini-mental breakdown. I'm watching a Bones episode, so I'm perfectly calm. Anyway, so this might actually get some promotion in the guild, I have written a poem:
His eyes dart away before I catch him looking He pays attention to the teacher so I won't suspect I'll long for a tender embrace that I will never receive I'll never receive the kiss I don't expect.
The eyes that pierce my own so deeply The face I memorized and I see in my dreams The face that brings on daydreams and nightmares Unfortunately, love is not always as it seems.
I turn my attention to the riveting Civil War Pretend I didn't catch him watching me Perhaps one day he'll kiss me like I dream about But for now, my heart belongs to he and only he.
I'll admit, it wasn't very good, but it was a valiant attempt to make in five minutes, if I do say so myself. Come on, people, we can do this!

So I have a short one. XD
I don't know you But I want to I know it's cheesy I know it's cliched I used to hate you Silently sending you shots to the head To think that now I'm head over heels Flat on my face Arrow in my back Falling for you.

Lovely! We need more of that. Here's a hate-love thing. It's actually not my poem, it's from one of my favorite movies, 10 Things I Hate About You, and here it goes:
I hate the way you talk to me, And the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car; I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, And the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick-- It even makes me rhyme. I hate it--I hate the way you’re always right. I hate it when you lie... I hate it when you make me laugh, Even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you’re not around And the fact that you didn’t call But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Not actually entering the contest with these. None of them are mine, and I really hate all the lovey dovey s**t that's been going around like herpes. Most of these are about the depressing things about love: the break ups, the rejections, the two-timers, all that s**t. Starting with one of Mike Shinoda's works while he was under the stage name "Fort Minor", here's "where'd you go" featuring Holly Brook and Jonah Matranga Where'd you go? I miss you so, Seems like it's been forever, That you've been gone.
She said "Some days I feel like s**t, Some days I wanna quit, and just be normal for a bit," I don't understand why you have to always be gone, I get along but the trips always feel so long, And, I find myself trying to stay by the phone, 'Cause your voice always helps me to not feel so alone, But I feel like an idiot, workin' my day around the call, But when I pick up I don't have much to say, So, I want you to know it's a little ******** up, That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin', Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career, Me and the rest of the family here singing "Where'd you go?"
I miss you so, Seems like it's been forever, That you've been gone. Where'd you go? I miss you so, Seems like it's been forever, That you've been gone, Please come back home...
You know the place where you used to live, Used to barbecue up burgers and ribs, Used to have a little party every Halloween with candy by the pile, But now, you only stop by every once and a while, s**t, I find myself just fillin' my time, With anything to keep the thought of you from my mind, I'm doin' fine, I plan to keep it that way, You can call me if you find that you have something to say, And I'll tell you, I want you to know it's a little ******** up, That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin', Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career, Me and the rest of the family here singing "Where'd you go?"
I miss you so, Seems like it's been forever, That you've been gone. Where'd you go? I miss you so, Seems like it's been forever, That you've been gone, Please come back home...
I want you to know it's a little ******** up, That I'm stuck here waitin', no longer debatin', Tired of sittin' and hatin' and makin' these excuses, For why you're not around, and feeling so useless, It seems one thing has been true all along, You don't really know what you've got 'til it's gone, I guess I've had it with you and your career, When you come back I won't be here and you can sing it...
Where'd you go? I miss you so, Seems like it's been forever, That you've been gone. Where'd you go? I miss you so, Seems like it's been forever, That you've been gone, Please come back home.. Next up is SR-71's "My World", along with a link to a music video animated by omgpockii hereThe fastest man in the world, fast asleep at the wheel Nobody wants to be alone, so how did I get, here When I look at you, I see him staring through Awake and a smile, 'cause he's been inside of you Is he all the things you, tried to change me into? Is he everything to you?
Does he make you high, make you real? Does he make you cry? Does he know the way you feel? Love is all around you, your universe is full But in my world, there is only you
I can still find the smell On my clothes and skin I can still see your face, when you're sleeping next to him Is he all the things you, tried to change me into? Tell me does he...
Does he make you high, make you real? Does he make you cry? Does he know the way you feel? Love is all around you, your universe is full But in my world, there is only you
I've had enough of fears, you let them out Now I wrap myself around you Like a blanket full of doubt The darkness burns The sunlight stings He's your everything
Does he make you high, make you real? Does he make you cry? Does he know the way you feel? Love is all around you, your universe is full But in my world
You make me high! You make me real! You make me cry! Now you know the way I feel Love is all around you, your universe is full But in my world, there is only you

Sorry this is a bit emo. Wrote it in like 5 minutes, so it also sucks. >.>"
Broken Hearts And Crushed Dreams Love is Bitter Cruel and Cold
Leading us on Only to stab us Gaining our trust Only to rip us apart Fulfilling our lust Only to leave us broken art.
Empty and cold Soon this day will grow old And fade away Before next Valentine's Day.

Wow. Three? Just three? I'm disappointed. Seriously. I gave you guys an extra day (remember, I said February 20th?) and nothing? Wow, now I'm pissed for two reasons. One, my boyfriend broke up with me (so the poem I posted is completely making me want to hit something), and two, nobody seems to want to post poetry anymore. Now, when you signed up for this guild, I'm suspecting that most of you did it for the roleplays. It is, after all, a roleplay guild. But this is the poetry forum, dammit, and I expect some results! Thank you, Moldy, for providing some insight on the twisted mind of an average person (not to call you twisted or anything, unless you like it that way). And thanks, Dolo, because even if you didn't post anything, you did tell people to piss off if they were acting all bitchy about not winning. Still: to everyone else, I am extremely disappointed. Dammit, next time there had better be some results. The contest for March is starting on March the first and I want at least six (six, dammit, count them!) entries by March 25th! Is that too complicated? Is it too difficult to ask for six separate people that may or may not include myself to scribble down a stanza about the loveliness of spring or whatever topic I choose. Also, I am ready to take suggestions for topics if anyone has one. Seriously, PM me. Anyway, I know you can't just pull poetry out of thin air, but you can find beauty in anything, and most people (except maybe extreme sadists and people who've lived without love) can find beauty in love, whether it's the long walks on the beach or kissing him or her everyday or even waking up to find them gone with their cigarette still smoldering in the ashtry by the bed. Come on, I know we can do better than this. Please don't disappoint me. Coral can testify to it: the last time I got seriously disappointed, I nearly broke her arm. By the way, Coral, I still am sorry for that. But you DID ask to be dragged down the hall by that same arm because you were too lazy to walk. So don't blame the whole not-feeling-my-arm-for-two-days thing ENTIRELY on me.

Right. Voting's over. And I am gifting Moldy with something that I hope he doesn't already have...and if he does, he can sell it for the gold.
