It was close to morning, and while most were either leaving the clubs soon, or still sleeping, one man was awake walking the piers having left his home a boat house and started his morning walk. He was just starting however when he saw someone rushing through the piers. Thinking they might be in trouble he decided to follow them and try and assist them however he could. After all, there isnt much he could do for people after all he was a a marine biologist, not a people doctor. At any rate he began to jog towards the woman calling out to her. "Ms, are you ok?" he called shifting his glasses some as they tried to jostle themselves from his face due to his pace.

Owan had been about to listen when she collapsed, he'd drawn closer as her tail formed and it's blue coloring. For a moment he couldn't think, left speechless by a creature that according to most respected scientists did not and simply could not exist, and yet one was before him. Shortly though his brain began to pick up as he stepped forward grabbing the young mermaiden, and carried her quickly to his home, stepping aboard he took her inside the large boat carrying her to a Tank filled with sea watter awaiting some sea animals he had been going to pick up later today so he could better study them, however, a mermaid, was a much better find, and so much more interesting study.

With that done he grabbed his cell phone stepping outside for a moment and made some calls letting his employer know he would be taking a leave of absense effective immediately to study something important. This freed him from work, and he had enough money stowed away so he could care for her and himself while he figured this all out.

Owan returned inside to see her banging against the sides and ran over. "No no no no, dont do that, you'll hurt yourself." he called to the woman hoping she would stop, so maybe they could talk. After all he had questions, who wouldn't, and she couldn't answer them if she got a concussion and killed herself. "I have some questions, If you answer them, perhaps we can help one another." he stated hoping she might listen and help him, after all he didn't want to hurt her, he just wanted to know, he was a scientist, his life was driven by questions, such as why. However as he was saying this he was looking over her in awe still, just amazed that such beautiful creatures existed, but nobody knew where they were, or even that they existed, having been relegated to myth, like dragons, which made him begin to question there existence as well.

"Thats better, first of I'm Doctor Owan McFoley, I have some questions, the first of which is who are you?" he said noticing the look on her face, guessing she was quite angry with him, he'd try and make things better, but first he wanted to get to know her. Her name would be a good start, then he try asking progressively bigger questions, and when he was done, well, he hadnt decided, what would he do. After all who would belive him without proof of this discovery. But what kind of proof, would anyone believe him if he took video, probably not, a blood sample might work, but he'd have to get it willingly, he refused to force anything form her right now, after all he was a stranger, a stranger who had her in a tank that really wasn't the right size for some her size to be comfortable, but it was the best he could do right now.

He coughed at her question before answering. "Well, it has to do with you being a mermaid, and me being a doctor of marine life, I want to know about you, your culture, why we haven't seen more mermaids, how you managed to have legs and walk about. I have questions, because at my core I'm a scientist, and the fact that I found you a mermaid, something most humans think is a myth, it just begs me to ask questions, to find out as much as i can." Owan said honestly feeling he had no reason to hide from her, after all she was uncomfortable, he'd be better off laying his cards on the table for now and being honest.

Owan may not have seen the tears but he took off his glasses and rubbed his temples sensing he had bothered her more from the sound of her voice. "No, I don't intend to keep you here, this was intended for a couple of rare fish i was going to study, to try and figure out a way to help them create more to save their species, it's not really made for something your size, I'll have to move you to my lab, its a little ways from here, but at least its a place i can arrive at by water, so i'll be able to carry you to it without worrying about you drying out or dying." he said sounding genuinely worried about hurting her, and about his wanting to get her somewhere more comfortable. "And honestly had i known I was going to find a mermaid today, I probably would be more prepared, so I apologize, not just for the tank, but for putting you there,instead of helping you to where you belong. I'll make you a deal, If you answer me some questions and help me understand why and how you got on land, and maybe even tell me why your people haven't made themselves known, and I'll release you back to the ocean." he said looking to her with a look of sincerity. In honesty he was bothered by the fact he'd put her in a tank, but he had to know, and he had a horrible feeling if he let her go now he'd forever wonder if any of this had even happened, or if he was just crazy.

Owan sighed again and tried to force a smile, but it failed, and he simply headed for the boat controls, starting the engine so he could set off for the island. As he drove he occasionally looked down from the platform down to the glass sliding cieling above her, looking her over trying to make sure she was still there and ok. This was a truly odd situation, he was more or less kidnapping someone, and all for science... what on earth was wrong with him. He didnt know he simply knew he had to at least talk to her learn something, make it feel like this wasn't all some dream he'd cooked up. Why would he cook this up? To try and make himself feel like his life wasn't a waste trying to save things that were already gone more or less.
