 Alice sat on the front porch in a rocking chair, Patriot was at her feet. Every so often his tail would thump onto the wooden floor, creating a lazy rhythm. Though she knew this calmness was deceiving. If Patriot was anything, he was a huge ball of energy.
Alice glanced at her watch quickly, wondering when her guests would arrive. She was waiting on another trainer, so see if Patriot could help her puppy out of his shell. From their brief chat on the phone it seemed he was a herding prospect. While Patriot wasn't a herding dog he was good with puppies. Normally she'd have tried to use Cherry ... but Cherry was more than a little indisposed at the moment. Alice sigh and leaned forward, petting Patriot.
Oh well, she thought. Can't dwell on the bad. At least the day was ideal for outdoor training. It was a nice summer afternoon. Not too hot, with a little wind, but not a cloud in the sky. Ideal in every way.
His tail thumped harder and harder with the petting.How he loved his Person. A doggy smile stretched across his features and he rolled onto his belly, for more pets.
For some reason his Person seemed to be waiting for someone, or something. Waiting usually meant something exciting would happen after, so, of course, Patriot was excited.
Perhaps he'd get to go diving in the lake! He let out a low, excited bark and his tail thumped even harder. He love getting to run off the dock and jump ... and then hit the water. It was the best feeling in the world. It would be even better ona day like today.

 Alexia had Olly on his leash and was walking towards a special Kennel. She had talked to the kennels owner about Olly and the owner said to drop on by. She finally reached the gate and pushed the intercom. She was buzzed in and she began walking up the drive. Hopefully Alice's dog would help Olly come out of his shell. The poor little guy was so shy and scared of everything that she feared he'd never become a herding dog.
Alexia had tons of dogs already and her fingers seemed to be in all the pies. Her dogs were of various breeds and were in various careers. However only Olly wasn't showing any improvement in his field. She worked with him as much as she could and got him social interactions but still he was like this. Maybe meeting another Aussie would help.Oliviero was happy to be out on a walk. Yes he spent all kinds of time with his human but it wasn't often that he went on walks like this with her. Usually she had some of the other dogs with them. She was even walking slow so he could easily keep up.
However he started to get skittish when they entered the huge gate. He began walking closer to his human and his ears and tail went down. This wasn't looking good. He didn't know this place. Where was she taking him? Was she getting rid of him?! He knew he wasn't doing good in his training but to get rid of him?
He then heard the low excited bark and he stopped hiding behind his human's legs. It was another dog! And it sounded so big! What if it was mean? He began trembling but his human stopped and began petting him. It made him feel better especially when she began to murmur those soothing sounds. Soon she was leading him again up the drive.

"Stay, Riot." Alice also hand signaled him to down. She really didn't need him scaring the little puppy any more. Goodness, the small Aussie seemed to be incredibly frightful, she hoped she could be of help.
"Hey there Alexia!" She stood and stepped off the porch, walking towards her guest, hand extended. "Welcome to Spring Grove. I assume this is Oliviero? Nice markings. ... Oh - good to meet you too. "
She was already crouched, to examine the puppy, hand shake forgotten. Alice extended a hand, to stroke the puppy gently, to reassure him.
"Hey boy. Aren't you adorable ..." She scratched behind an ear, hoping that would settle him. "You ready for some fun? Hmmm?"
She looked up at the puppy's owner, smiling. "I know you mentioned he was a herding prospect and all, but I was hoping we could get him into the lake with Patriot today. I have a life jacket for him if he isn't a natural, but it can really help some dogs come out of there shell ... and well ... seems he might need it? "
Alice spoke quickly, trying to get her entire plan out in a single breath. She might be a gifted dog trainer, but she wasn't all that smooth with the two legged folk.
Patriot's tail banged against the porch, he squirmed and whined, in a low tone, wanting to meet this new dog very badly. He was just like himself! Same breed! Well, different colour, and he acted differently, but still, the same!

Alexia smiled when Alice came over and seemed friendly. "Hello Alice. Thanks for seeing us and yes this is Oliviero." She smiled down at Olly and crouched down as well. He was already trying to climb up on her but she kept him on the ground. She smiled at his reaction to the ear scratch.
"That sounds fine. I certainly was hoping the first time he met Patriot it'd be more of a play date and not a training exercise. And he does like water. Just not very deep water." She said with a nervous chuckle, "Yeah he certainly does need some help coming out of his shell."
She looked up hearing Patriot wag his tail and whine. "Seems someone is excited about this." She chuckled while watching the squirming dog.
Olly shrank down to the ground as the other human came towards them. As she crouched down and began making noises at him, he tried to climb his person. Soon his person was down with him making him stay on the ground. But it was all quickly forgotten as the new human began scratching behind an ear. Which led to his head tilting and his back leg beginning to kick. It felt so good!
