Sileust knocked on the door, looking around at the... interesting shape of the place. In one arm was a basket filled with... blankets? No Uluen in sight! In the other was a basket filled with brownies. Or... what looked to be brownies, anyway. Crumbly, slightly dry looking brownies.
"Miss Katherine?"

"Just a sec!" came the faint cry from inside. That was soon to be followed by heavy thudding before the door swung open wildly. Hair sticking out in every and any direction, her clothes rumpled and shifted out of place, it looks like Kat had just woken up.
It took her a second to register who was at the door. "Oh!" she said, blinking lazily. "Sileust! Sorry, I didn't know you were coming over today." She was too worried with how long she had slept in to be paranoid at the moment. Suddenly aware of herself, she added, "I, er, just got up recently. Sorry." Another blink, and Kat was looking at Sileust's arms. "Oh, I'm braindead. I'll help with that," she offered at the brownies. Her brain still in sleep mode, she didn't catch the blankets, or what it could mean.
"If you'll follow me inside...?" It was a question because Kat wasn't sure if she was being too rude or not.

Sileust happily handed the brownies over, blinking and smiling at Kat. "Sitting down would be good, yes." Actually, that smile was a bit creepy. Didn't move much. Eeeee....
Sileust followed Kat into the house, rocking the basket she still held, humming to herself.

Kat gave her, unconsciously, a deer-in-the-headlights blank stare for a long second, trying to figure out what was odd about this. "Right, then," she said at last, leading Sileust in with the brownies held out in her hands.
"I would've cleaned up a bit more had I known you were coming by," she said. The house itself, though, didn't look that unkept. Sure, there was a layer of dust here and there, folowed by the odd misplaced book or forgotten plushie, but it wasn't a pig-sty. She did, however, forget to put up the ladder steps to the attic in her rush to come down, and had to pause to fold them up into the ceiling so they could pass easier.
Kat came into the kitchen, placing the brownies on the edge of the table. Pulling up a chair for herself and Sileust, she asked, "So.... Is this about my Doo-meer?"

"Yep! Actually... um... he's a bit older than we expected..."
She sat down and, sitting the basket on her lap, reached into the blankets and pulled out a sandy-yellow creature who looked very similar to Daumyin. He yawned and squirmed.
"Take him?" The doll held the Dumyr out to Kat, still smiling.

A mix of sleepiness and a surreal visitor was starting to make Kat believe she was still asleep, and that this was one of those dreams where you only think you're awake. However, that mentality was dashed away by the eye-searingly bright coloration of this particular Dumyr. She had to blink a couple times for her eyes to adjust before she took him. Kat cradled his still-squirming body. "He's so... bright!" she commented, smiling sheepishly.
She blinked at the doll. Being rather awake now, she was mentally staving off the thoughts of Sileust dismembering her, wearing that slight smile the whole time. The only outward appearance of her thinking this was a slight scrunching on her shoulders and neck together, as if being a fraction smaller would save her.
Her imagination was quickly subdued, if for the moment, by the Dumyr's increasingly flailing form. Kat, having been out of it the moment before, flinched at the sudden movements and flailing limbs, and dropped him instictively. Landing on his feet with feline grace, he slinked off to find a warm spot where he could take a nap.
"Sorry," Kat said, both to the Dumyr and to Sileust, as if she could read her thoughts. "Oh! I didn't even ask. Does he... have a name?"

"Uhh.... not that I know of!" the doll chirped, giggling. "So I suppose you should give him one, then! Would be better than just calling him, 'Oh, you, over there with the wings!' Uh. I mean..."
Looking sheepish, she ducked her head.

Laughter was good! That meant that she wasn't a cold blooded killer... or that she would laugh when Kat was writhing in pain, screaming at the sight of meeting her own liver face-to-face. Damn imagination, Kat said to herself, while laughing nervously.
"Well, that would actually be kinda inaccurate too, since some of the other guys around here have wings, too. I think 'Kitty' would be far worse a fate, eh?" Kat snorted at the thought.
"For some reason," she said after a bit, "I like the name Tark, and it always reminds me of yellow. Kangaroo rats, too, but that's beside the point. Whaddayou think?"

"I like it! Oh, and there's one other thing mommy wanted me to give you." She rummaged around in Tark's basket for a minute, then pulled out a small yellow journal. The doll held it out to Kat.
"It's a journal to record Tark's progress, along with an address book. Mom wrote down the names, addresses, and phone numbers of all the other caretakers. And she said to keep your door open in case they need you. Kay?"

"Thank you," said Kat automatically. Well, it certainly did match Tark's fur.
"Journal, eh? It's the return of my horrible handwriting!" she said, overemphasising "horrible." "As for the other caretakers, if I'm not home, certainly Lepus'll open the door for them. But yes, I'll make sure I do."
Kat placed the book down as something occured to her. "Wow, I haven't been much of a host, have I? Do you, er, want anything?" she said, standing up. It did occur to her if an automaton actually needed anything, but it seemed far more rude not to ask at all.

Sileust blinked, then glanced around. "You wouldn't happen to have cupcakes around here, would you? Or Turkish Delight, that's even better! Or just regular Jello... mm..." She smiled widely, bouncing in her seat. Apparently, the girl likes sweets.

"Turkish Delight? I didn't even know that was real food. We might have some peanut butter cookies left, though. Nobody except me seems to like them as little more than piping hot cookie dough, so I've just been scarfing them myself. They're a bit harder now, of course. Just... gotta remember where I put them."
In fact, Kat knew they were in the cupboard nearest the back door, but she wanted to see where Tark went off to first. It would be bad for his psyche and hers if he had somehow woke a sleeping Thousand, or bumped into someone else. While on her faux search, going through other cupobards and counter space, she said to Sileust, "You should consider yourself lucky! I mean, what with you coming by and all the others out of the house or sleeping."
She saw a glipse of yellow behind the "Fridge?" she said alound. Tark had managed to squeeze himself through the gap between the wall and the fridge thanks to the irregular angle it was at. From the slow, rythmic up and down of Tark's side, she figured he was sleeping and didn't bother to wake him.
"Oh!" Kat said in false realization. "They're in that cupboard. Duh." With that she went and got the cookies. Her ealier description was quite true, for when she grabbed one for herself after placing it on the table, gravity split the cookie in two. "I guess they're still mushy," she said with a nervous laugh.

Sileust happily snagged one and munched on it, beaming. "Thanks!
"And yeah, it's like... mild jello with powdered sugar on top. Really good. I've only had it once, though. So, um... yeah. That's about all I came for, to be honest... To drop him off, and stuff."

"You're welcome!" Kat beamed back. It was good to know someone else liked her mushy cookies! Plus, she wasn't actually a robot it she was eating, right?
"It certainly sounds good. I just never knew what it was." She made a mental note to look for some the next time she went into town.
"Oh, really? Well, what's a visit without food?" Kat snorted. "If you'd like, I can pack up some of these for you, if you want. I think I've eaten too many of them myself!" Another snorted laugh.
