Mchele wandered slowly through the grass, making his way home. He'd just been over to the Graveyard, 'visiting', and now had alot to think about. The lion he'd met there had shown him something obviously very close to him and told Mchele things about life and one's goals in it. It had made a whole window open up in Mchele's mind about why his sister had gone. And while it still hurt him inside that she'd left, at least now he had some understanding as to why she'd done it.

But that wasn't all. The afternoon spent with the other lion had stirred strange feelingings inside the adolescent. Feelings he'd not felt before in his life, not like this. Like a very odd sort of fear and hope mixed together which made his guts tighten slightly and his head feel hot like sunstroke. Maybe he was ill?

Bakhti was finding it hard to do much at the moment, the lioness was obviously expecting and she was rather large in most areas of her stomach. She was laying by her rock, not on it as it was rather uncomfortable, so in the small amount of shade the rock gave off she laid in. Her head on the ground as she lay on her side. Most could think she was dead if it wasn't for the rising of her body as she breathed.

She was happy in the shade, the sun was too hot for the honey coloured lioness, she had nothing much that she could do really, not that was of any importance either. She was happy and content just laying, laziness was good when pregnant!

As Bakhti's eldest born son approached the lair where the family and pride resided, he spotted his mother enjoying a small patch of shade. Things had been so different when Kiburi left that he had clung to his parents greatly, needing their closeness to remind him that he was not all alone without his sister. But in his sadness and cufusion before he hadn't really noticed the steadily growing swell in his mother's stomach. Now as he came up and looked at her laying on her side he couldn't help but notice it.

"Mother... something's odd. I think I'm sick....." He trailed off as he stared the softly raising and falling abdomen. Did it just move funny? Creeping closer he gave her a lick and soft nuzzle on her cheek to rouse her. "Mum? Are you ok? Your belly... it's all..." Well he didn't know how to put it. 'Big' and 'moving' didn't exactly sound good.

Bakhti's ears flicked when she heard her son speak and she opened her eyes as he licked her. She moved slowly to get up ignoring the question about her stomach for a while, "What is this feeling? Why do you think you are sick darling?" She spoke softly and stood up to lick him as she always did and always would do, Mchele was always her little boy, even with these cubs inside her, Mchele would always be ever so special.

She then decided maybe it would be a good idea to tell Mchele about why she was so fat. "Oh well, you see your father decided I was too skinny and wanted to faten me up, so much he made me eat cubs that somehow got our genes and erm, will be your younger siblings." She tried to put it in a humerous way, but that wasn't Bakhti's strong point. "Your father and I, miss having small cubs to look after." She licked at Mchele again and nuzzled her son. "We will never leave you Mchele, nor will we disown you or Kib, if she returns." Bakhti looked at her son lovingly, she hoped he wouldn't take this the wrong way, she really did hope.

"Oh well it's my stomach. It's all... twisty?" He tried to explain it. It was still a small feeling for now but it would grow. "Just happened today and I didn't eat anything suspicious, not even a really sick antelope. It was just out showing a friend some hunting techniques and it got worse." He leaned into the licking from his mother and found that it did help somewhat with calming the unusual feeling inside.

But he stopped his relaxing state and blinked at her. Unfortunatly her attempt at a joke only confused him more and he gave her a very odd look. "Too skinny? No you weren't. And what cubs did he make you eat? Seriously, he wouldn't that! What are you talking about?" But he understood the word 'sibling' and paused when he heard it.

"Siblings? You mean... another sister like Kib? Or a brother like Danzi?" He seemed to think on it, his eyes going wider. "What do you mean you wouldn't leave me? You mean for smaller cubs? Because... I'm not small anymore?" Despite her loving attention on him Mchele felt a knot of panic rising. "I'm still your son though. Why do you need more? Is it because Kib left? I'm not going to leave." The words seem to rush from his mouth without him thinking on them first.

"Mchele darling, calm down." She smiled at him and licked at him again. "I know you won't ever leave and you do not know how happy that makes me, you will alway be my special boy, understand?" Her blue eyes looked at him softly. She loved her son dearly and how to explain why they were having more children without it sounding bad? Oh she didn't know.

She looked away and up at the sky for a little while before speaking, not looking at Mchele but still watching the sky. "We are here to bring life before it is taken from us. We were so happy to have you and Kib, but when Kib left it was like part of something was missing. There was always something in me that loved cubs, hense you have Danzi as a brother." She paused.

She looked back at Mchele, her eyes seemed as if she was far away somewhere but she had to continue talking. "Mchele, we are letting others have a chance of life because one day I won't be here and I want to give plenty the chance to live, I was hoping Kib would stay here where she would be safe, but I don't have the ability to make any of you stay, though it breaks my heart to watch her go." She paused and then licked at her son again.

"Anyway.. whats this problem you having, what friend is it you were with?" She sat back on her haunches, she had explained her bit, his turn now.

At his mother's insistance that he calm himself the honey-coloured went quiet and listened to what she had to say. She was right, he wouldn't leave home, ever. And her comment on how happy that made her and how special he was to her made him swell with pride.

"To bring life.... you mean, cubs?" He replied slowly. "Yes I know the feeling of something missing mother. I feel it too with her gone." He also knew she did love cubs so. Why else had she adopted Danzi first? And she was always welcoming young rogues in to have a proper meal. Sometimes Mchele felt she just couldn't help herself caring for young ones. "And you think having a litter of cubs will help fill that?" He asked carefully. It was something he'd never even considered himself. "I suppose... I suppose it is good to give more lions the chance to live...."

Her return to the other topic at hand though made him sit down himself in surprise. "Oh well... well I don't know. There wasn't really a problem... I met up with them a couple of times recently. And today we got talking more. They really helped me with some ideas on life and such..." He gave a little sigh, not an unhappy one mind you, and flopped himself down to lay on his belly. "And the more time I spent with them, the more this odd feeling grew. Like... I dunno. I wanted to talk more, show them how to hunt better and even help provide for them. They're not very good at hunting you see."

She shook her head, "No, they will never feel the gap that Kib has left, it would be like replacing her if they did. They will just create new holes in which they will fill." She chuckled and then listened as he spoke.

A smile on her maw seemed to grow as he spoke, had her son met a nice girl who was worthy of his love? It sounded like it, that was for certain. "Mchele, you are growing fond of them, as I am fond of your father." Her blue eyes looked alive, her son, grandchildren? Oh this all sounded good, yes very good. "Why don't you bring them to meet me? Maybe if I see how you react around each other I can help you a little more son." She stood up and licked at him again, she couldn't believe this, her own cubs, and, well, grandchildren, this was going to be great!

"Oh." Mchele replied quitely with a quick glance up at his mother. Well he was glad they wouldn't be replacing Kiburi. Nothing could really. These would just be different... different brothers and sisters. He wasn't sure how he felt about it though he was warming to the idea. He wouldn't be replaced with the new cubs and it did seem a somewhat noble thing to bring new life in and let it try it's go at living. His only main fear was that he'd somehow be left out and forgotten with the new arrivals.

His ears pricked up when Bakhti told him he must growing fond of this other lion. Like her and dad? As in... love? Well he liked this lion. And the more he thought about it, a smile growing on his face, the more he was convinced he really did like like them. Love might be a bit too strong for now. Maybe he should invite Ausha round to meet his mum and see what she thought?

"You think I like them? I think.. I think you might be right." He broke into a wide grin. "You know... he's very cute. Is as good at grooming himself as I am! I'll have to ask him to come visit me here. He said he might before."

Bakhti suddenly stopped and stared, "He?" She tried not to loose her calmness but... her son was gay?? What about grandchildren who she could dote on like her own children, what about... oh her dreams were not allowed or something? Kib leave, Mchele gay, maybe her next litter would bring her dreams to life, maybe? Hopefully?

Her blue eyes stayed soft and she was able to keep the surprise and what ever else it was she was feeling deep inside her and not shown to her son. She had to encourage him in life not bring him down and make him feel bad.

"He needs a bit of help with his hunting skills though, because I don't think anyone's really taught him. Plus he had a run-in with a hyena and hurt his shoulder." Mchele continued on happily until he noticed the staring look of his mother and the single word she uttered.

"Yeah... he." He replied, his joyous expression failing a bit. "And he's really nice. Well to me he is. A bit odd but that's ok." He tried to encourage her. But despite her soft eyes he did notice her sudden lack of conversation and a feeling unease and confusion rose in him. "What? Have I.... done something wrong?"

Time to pull self together. She got up and nuzzled her son, "No nothing wrong, just something rare and different my son." She didn't sit back down which was in a way weird especially as her stomach was pulling her down, it was really heavy for two cubs!

"Most boys fall in love with girls, girls fall in love with boys, it works like that so cubs can be born and live. boys and boys, girls and girls can't have children, which for some is fine, to others it isn't. My darling. It is fine with me, just, for safety reasons, don't shout about it for some may think it is wrong, and let me tell your father of your love." She stopped speaking now and licked at her son.

She paused again and let a smile cross her face, "What is his name and am I allowed to meet the love of your life my darling?" She would encourage him and she would also tell his father, she wasn't sure how Mahiri would take it, Mchele being gay.

"Different... I suppose that's why you always ask Danzi if he's met some nice girl huh?" He said, looking down as she gave him a nuzzle. Funny, she'd never asked him before if he'd met any girls and was planning to bring them home to meet her. And he'd never really thought on cubs before, certainly not any of his own. But now that he thought he might be falling for his own gender it became apparent cubs wouldn't be an option for him and his crush. It was a little... disappointing in a way. Perhaps his soon-to-arrive siblings might be enough?

He looked up suddenly at her face though when she mentioned safety. Opening his mouth as if to speak, he closed it again slowly in silence. Wrong... his mother said she didn't feel that it was, but others might. And would... hurt him for it? What on earth for?! Was it really considered that bad by some? Suddenly the lifting feeling he had felt just moments before turned into a deeper sinking feeling. He couldn't tell anyone... not even his father?

He shifted slightly away from her licks, something he'd never done before. "Safety reasons? Why? Why should you tell father? He wouldn't... he's not one of those those who...." He swallowed. "... who would dislike me for it?" He didn't feel much like telling her Ausha's name anymore. What if some others found out and tried to hurt him too?

Bakhti sighed, "No Mchele, I dont mean it like that." She looked at him with a saddened face, "Others are scared of change, things being different, they are just happy hunting, washing, sleeping and mating with a female or male in my case. People won't hurt you for it, if they do hurt them back. I don't know how your father will take it, you can talk to him if you so desire but knowing a male loves males make other males including your father feel weird because it isn't normal. It is nothing to worry about son, just weary around others."

She shifted around a bit and ended up laying down again. "Mchele, both me and your father love you dearly and nothing will ever change that, nothing, we will only encourage you. It can just be a shock, thats why I think I should tell your father but if you wish too, I won't stop you." She sighed and laid her head down on her paws feeling suddenly that she wasn't saying the right things, this seemed to be upsetting her son and she hated that.

"Scared of me? No one's ever been scared of me..." He replied, eyes looking up at his mother's face. Maybe not scared of him exactly, but scared of his difference. Maybe that's why he already didn't have so many friends? Not like how Kib had when she'd been here. She'd even somehow been friendly to Uumi, though Mchele wasn't sure if it had been reciprocated by the red male.

He could tell his mother was trying hard to be kind to him. Trying to make him feel ok about it. But some things didn't seem to make alot of sense to him. It was ok to be this way, but it wasn't normal. Nothing to worry about, except he should be wary and it would make his father feel weird.

He shook his head and shuffled over closer to his mum, curling against her swelling belly and resting his head lightly on her shoulder. Her declaration of both her and his father's love for him was of consolation. "I'm sorry mum... I didn't mean to shock you. Maybe... maybe I should think on it some more. Maybe I'm wrong about this feeling. I would like you to tell father but please don't tell him anything just yet... I should... I would like to be sure first." He murmered. "And I won't say anything to anyone else."
