Tate:
One thing had been on his mind for days. Her. It had been a bit careless lately. He had almost been spotted by the man of the house that he lived in. Though he had come to his senses quickly and had escaped the scene. He needed to be more careful. But, he wanted to know why she plagued his mind so damn much.
"Shes beautiful.." He told himself. Yeah he knew that. He knew that when he first met her.
"She's smart, her smile.. she deserves more." He said again and frowned. Maybe she did, but he was going to do his best.
His paws touched the grass to her yard, and he whined a bit, making his way to the back of the fence.
"Violet?" He called.. He hoped she was out there. She hadnt been the past few days.
Violet:
There was barking from inside the house, a raised voice, and the door on the back porch banged open. Violet ran out, her human shouting at her for some peace and quiet, and slammed the door behind her.
Ears low, she rushed away from the door and rushed under a clump of bushes, curling up in the hollow area among them. She hadn't heard Tate call out to her, hadn't seen him in her mad dash to her hiding spot. She had thought about running to him, curling up in his basement with him and sniffling on his shoulder... But then he might not be there and then where would she go?
Tate:
He heard the humans yelling, and his hackles rose and he let out a small came from his throat. Not that he would do anything now, but if they did anything in front of him then it was something he couldnt garauntee.
He whined, scratching at the fence when Violet didn't respond. "Violet, come on." He said, and moved tot he hole in the fence, in which he peeked inside. He saw her, hiding and cowaring away from the humans that had been shouting. He frowned. They should be ashamed.
"Hey.." He said, a soft smile on his face.
Violet:
Violet's eyes snapped open and she covered her face with her paws.
"Hi, Tate... Did you hear all that?" she asked, sighing and shaking her head before crawling to him and curling up next to him.
"I over-did it. They haven't let me out in days, I really tried to get put outside. I got so sick of being in there, I was desperate," Violet tried to explain, shaking her head.
"I didn't think he would yell at me like that, though..."
Tate:
When she curled up against him, he felt his heart thump in his chest, and he rested a paw on her.
"He shouldn't have yelled at you like that. I dare him to do it with me around. I will take care of you, Violet." He said, looking back at her earnestly. He wasnt sure why he wanted the commitment but he knew he did. He simply knew.
"Why do you keep coming back?" He asked, but he knew the answer. He shouldnt even be questioning her. So long as he was her comfort, he was happy.
Violet:
She frowned and looked up at him with a sad look on her face before looking back down.
"They're my family, I... I care about them. I want them to be happy and be a part of that, but it's not coming. Part of me keeps thinking that if I just wait a little bit longer, things will get better," Violet replied. She couldn't leave them, they were her family and... They'd already lost one baby, if she disappeared, they'd notice. It might take some time, but they would and she was certain it would just hurt them more.
At least, that's what she believed.
Tate:
Tate blinked, and then lowered his head to nose her cheek. He sighed and closed his eyes, inhaling her scent. Commiting it to memory.
"I can understand that." Then he lifted his head.
"Though it isn't right. No one will ever treat you like that when Im around." He said, his voice firm, though he was whispering it to her.
Violet:
"If you're aggressive the first time you meet them, they'll try and take you away. Then I'd never get to see you..." Violet leaned against him, nuzzling into his fur. He was so nice to her, it was hard to not be affectionate with him. It made her happy to know of someone who was so determined to protect her, to keep her happy.
"Is there somewhere we can go that isn't here, and not your place? I don't want to be here right now and I don't want to be cooped up inside again."
Tate:
He smiled warmly. Tate wasn't good at a whole lot. But he was good at affection, and he wasn't afraid to show it. His heart thump thump thumped in his chest and he wagged his tail.
"Just come walk with me. We will just wander. Find someplace that is just ours. Like a secret hide out." He said, nodding and grinning from ear to ear.
"Could be fun."
Violet:
"That... sounds like an awesome idea," Violet replied before slinking out from their hiding spot and straight for the hole under the fence. She was on the other side before Tate could ask her to wait, turned back to the hole so that she would see him come out after her. The thought of getting away made her rather excited, the idea that they would have somewhere for just the two of them made her even more so.
Tate:
When she got up and headed off, he wasn't too far off her heels. He slinked out after her, and shook his pelt. For some reason he always felt a little itch after squeezing out of that hole.
Once ready to move on, he smiled at her and bounded to her side. He was happy to have met such a friend. A friend that he wanted to protect. She was starting to sound like a bit more already.
"What kind of place would you want? Storybook romance? Ooor, maybe more macarbre?" He asked, winking at her adn chuckling.
Violet:
Violet gave him an incredulous look when she asked where she wanted to go, but it didn't take long to come up with what she wanted.
"Somewhere dim and private. Music would be nice, too, but not really needed. Maybe something to eat," she replied, her tail even wagging a bit. She nosed his cheek and tilted her head away from her yard.
"Lead on."
Tate:
When he got the go ahead, and began moving forward. For a moment he was quiet as his brain tried to think of somewhere that would be fitting of what she wanted. He smiled when he thought of the old theater. He knew that one of the musicals were hounding through the rooms right now, and he looked at her.
"I know just the place." He nodded, motioning her on. It didn't take long to get to the stone building, alleys around and behind the place. He slunk through the shadows, and put his ear to the wall once he reached the back.
"Any minute now.." He said, a confident gaze on his features. He was a bit early, that was good.
"Im afraid the trashcans arent as great as your food. But.. Sometimes you come across great things. Like hot dogs."
Violet:
Violet followed him closely, her shoulders even with his ribs. They were walking for what seemed like forever, but maybe that was just because she wanted to get where they were going.
When they got there, she remained close to him, trying to figure out what he was waiting for when he spoke.
"It's okay. I'm not really that hungry, it was just a thought. Maybe another time," she replied, rubbing her shoulder against his. Her head tilted to one side, ears perked slightly.
"What are we waiting for?"
Tate:
"Give it juuust a second." He said, and held up his paw. He began counting while looking up, as if counting in his head.
"Three, Two, One.." Within seconds, quite a good talent on his part, the opening scene started, echoing the back alley with music. He wagged his tail. Hopefully she would like it. Sure it wasnt the best place but he really wasnt a magician, he could only do what was in his realm of possibilities.
Violet:
"Oh... Oh wow." All Violet could do was flop down next to Tate and close her eyes, listening to the music. Her tail wagged in time to the music and she curled closer to him.
After a moment, she looked up at him with a smile.
"This is a really great place, Tate. Thanks for bringing me here," she said, her voice sort of wistful as she cuddled closer.
Tate:
"Id do anything to make you happy, Violet.." He said, a smile on his maw. He lowered himself to his belly, allowing her to cuddle into him and his tail began thumping behind him. Though it was to his own rhythm.
"Im glad you like it.. Really." He said, and nosed her cheek, and then gently tugging on her ear. Her beautiful, long furred ear that just made her look angelic.
Violet:
Her cheeks flushed when he said he'd do anything to make her happy. There was no one in this world who had ever said that to her. A part of her told her to be careful, that he could just be really good at telling a female what she needed to hear or... No, he was being kind to her, there was no reason to doubt that. He was a good male, even if he was a thief.
Violet smiled when he tugged at her ear and gave him a rather playful head-butt.
"You're a real charmer, Tate, you know that?"
Tate:
He smiled at her observation. He was rather proud that she had read him so well. He sighed pushing his muzzle into her neck. "Violet.. I think that I dont ever want you to stop seeing me.." He admitted. He had been falling hard and he hadnt been able to stop himself
Violet:
Violet smiled and nuzzled him a bit.
"You haven't done anything to make me want to stop," she replied. Her eyes closed again and she let her mind wander with the music, enjoying his company and the place he had taken her to. It was so different and new and she honestly couldn't get enough of it. The thought that he was just as lonely as she was made her even more drawn to him. How could he not be, after all? He lived alone in that basement and she was his only friend.
It was almost like they were meant for each other.
