Restless. God damn restlessness. No Luc to stalk and pester and manipulate. No Karma to whisper terrible things to, to touch with paws almost too light to actually believe. No mother to watch over and play the act of the good little boy. By now he had almost thought even she was beginning to notice something was different with him. Nettle let a gleeful smile cover his face for a few moments. Course his mother would never know, he wanted it that way. She was too innocent, a child more then any of the bowls and kits he had watched grow up in their house. He was the adult between them, her father in every respect but the actual one. Now was his turn to play.
He was stalking along the shadows again. His bright purple eyes flashing now and again. He needed someone new, someone fresh. Luc had that damn mate hanging around her at all times and Karma was too much like his mother to prey on for too long. No, he wanted someone new, someone who would put up a fight like Luc. So he waited.

Besides the racism, oh, and lest we all forget, the fact that it wasn't scary, Ameretat had to say that Lovecraft was a good author. She walked into the shop with a book of short stories tucked under her arm and sat down on the couch to read. Her housemates were all settling in and beginning new projects, but Ameretat had decided to come here to get away from it all. She was sick and tired of other people, especially her housemates. Day in, day out, trapped inside by snow and ice with pranksters, whiners, and her father, who was pestering her to get a real job. Real job?! There were no real jobs, none that Ameretat wanted. The only places that were hiring were a couple fast-food joints and a comic book store. Fast-food joints were completely out of the question, and a comic book store? Seriously? Did anyone still read them?! Why?! Why read them, when they were all nonsense now, twisted out of all belief, without a single shred of interest. The games sold there only interested her a little. What she wanted was work at a book shop, but no, they weren't hiring!
Well! There were rooms at the back of the Lucky Noodle Shop, and its kitchen was always stocked. She could stay here for a few days until her latest row with her father blew over. Until then, she had a good book to read, and she could always fly into the rafters if anyone got too annoying. If they could fly, well...her book was a very long book full of horror stories, and it was a hardcover to boot. It would hurt quite a bit when she smacked it over the nuisance's nose.

Well she looked interesting. A new face at least. From his spot he watched the female.enter with her book. She was similar to a more innocent female he had come across in a bookstore not long ago and the thought made his heart rate increase. She seemed less then innocent, which was a plus as well. His mind set he slowly followed behind her, keeping a distance that didn't scream what he was up to.
These were the times that Nettle enjoyed. The thrill of being a predator. No matter what anyone told him there was little that got the blood pumping and adrenaline rushing. Now it was the only thing he lived for anymore. The acting had been fun for awhile, fooling others into his trap, trying to trick them into believing he was nothing more then a gentleman who cared for their well-being but he was a horrid actor. More then a few times he had slipped and attacked before they were fooled, or even didn't fool them at all. This time he wouldn't hide who he was or what he wanted. And she looked perfect.
Glancing around quickly he made sure no one paid him any attention and didn't follow. If he was lucky she would head to an area that was easily private. He wouldn't rape the girl or force himself on her or any such nonsense but most people didn't like the way he acted and if she was a fighter then he wanted her to be the one to kick his a**.....if she could. It was always better when they didn't.

Ameretat had settled on the couch as soon as she had arrived, and it wasn't long before she was reading more tales of Lovecraftian horror. Nothing like an eldritch abomination to set the whole world in perspective, was there? Slowly, she felt herself relax, or at least, relax as much as she could. Truth be told, Ameretat never relaxed. She was filled with too much pent-up anger and hatred to ever relax. She eschewed the warm-and-fuzzies in favor of the cold-and-bitters to the point where only her familiar, Mortality, could put up with her most days.
Said familiar crawled onto the couch and curled up over her paws. Absently, Ameretat reached down to pet his ears as she read on.

Damn, she just had to choose one of the most viewed areas in the shop. He decided to watch her for a bit, try to figure out things about her he could use later. A bookworm, or at least she seemed to enjoy the book she had......he tried to read the binding but couldn't fully make out the title and that annoyed him. For all he knew it could be a book about torture or fluffy unicorns. Both would indicate much different things about the girl but his luck seemed to suck today.
His luck certainly sucked today. Not only was she in a popular place but her pet had decided to join her. Nettle never did really like familiars. Most were annoying creatures that were never really like their owners at all and Nettle wasn't going to be a fool and pick one who would try to make him behave more 'morally'.
Finally tired of waiting he slowly paced in front of the couch and jumped next to her and her familiar, his purple eyes flashing slightly. "You sure seem relaxed and happy for being alone. I think I might want to change that." And he did, though he wanted to change her being happy and relaxed much more then her being alone. People were far more interesting when they were upset.

((Boy, you're in the right place for entertainment, then xDDDDDDDDDDDDD ))
Ameretat flicked her eyes up in irritation. Just as she got to the good part! A stranger was sitting next to her, not far away from where Mortality was warming her feet. He was an interesting looking fellow--the stranger, not the tanuki--with purple eyes that stood out from ginger fur. Those eyes were flashing, and Ameretat's base level of irritation spiked ever so slightly. Whoever this fellow was, she instantly distrusted him. Mind you, she distrusted people anyway. With the usual swift speed of unarticulated thought, she decided that he was only slightly more untrustworthy than the average person, and that was purely because of the way he stated those sentences.
Some people just don't understand how grammar works, do they? "Care to restate that statement?" she asked, her eyes returning to the book. "Because the way you said it makes you sound like a serial rapist instead of an over-friendly buffoon. Piss off until you have something worthy to offer to socialization." Not that I'm interested in socialization anyway.

Smirking he felt a tiny shiver of thrill race through him. A fighter, a snarky passionate girl who could give him the fun verbal contest he was looking for. Casting a glace back at the pet he gave it a slight narrowed look before slowly slipping into a smile. "Oh no, I rather liked the way I stated the sentences. It made it more......interesting, wouldn't you say?"
Serial rapist? The thought sickened him. There was no fun in just attacking someone. No, he enjoyed the conquest only when he had earned it. "If I was a serial rapist do you think I'd be stupid enough to make it sound like I was one?" That would probably be the stupidest thing someone would do. Sliding closer to her he quickly took her in. A beautiful blue with green markings all over and eyes that were striking. He had to admit she was a beauty, if only to himself. No need to let her know she had anything over him. "And I can't do that. You see, when I first noticed you I decided there was finally someone worthy of my time, and so here I am." Double meanings, somewhere in his lifetime they had become his favorite things to say.

Oh, wow. This idiot just did not know how not to sound like a serial rapist, did he? "If by interesting you mean, 'cause for a girl to mace you in the face,' then yes, it did sound more 'interesting' the way you said it." Ameretat was now regretting not following Ambrose's advice and carrying pepper spray around. This guy was just asking for it. If he came any closer...well, it was still a thick, hardcover book, and if she was careful to aim for his nose, he would deserve it.
Oh, no. I might have to scream as well. The idea made Ameretat push a little closer into the "angry" category. She hated screaming. It was just too...pathetic. "If you had started talking normally, I wouldn't assume you were doing that 'I know you know that I know' routine and really were a serial rapist who was speaking like one so that I would fall into exactly that trap. Because you're right, that would be a very thick thing to do. But now you're sounding creepier and creepier. Unless you have some sort of explanation that makes you worth my time, then I suggest you leave before I decide to take action against you."

Laughing he sounded normal for a few seconds as his amusement at her answer actually took over the unstable thoughts that tended to cloud his mind. His paw came up to attempt muffling his laughter and his wings tucked against his side as he began to relax. A large somewhat evil looking grin began to spread across his face and he gave her a mischievous look. "So far I've never had a girl threaten to mace me, though there was that one time........"
Trailing off he gave her a contemplative glance as if trying to figure out if she were serious or not, part of him actually wondering what exactly she'd do if he continued. Not that being hurt would make him stop for long, enough though.....that tended to make him more weary of her. "And what would you have said if I had talked normally? You would have probably ignored me or told me to f off. That wouldn't have been very nice~" Deciding that he didn't like where he was at he got up and jumped onto the back of the couch instead, a safer area. "Besides if you really didn't like it you would have left by now wouldn't you?" Smirking again he let his tail hang over and tickle against her neck another deep laugh threatening to spill out of his mouth. "My name's Nettle."

In spite of herself, Ameretat snorted. "Oh dear. And did you drive her to that point?" She wasn't even sure why she found the idea funny. Maybe it was the mischievous look. Really, there shouldn't be anything funny about that, but...well, schadenfreude. Especially in his case.
"Nettle. That's a good name for you," she said. "As in, a nuisance and an annoyance that most people try to weed out, but may or may not have some vague usefulness to someone. Possibly as a very unpleasant remedy." She put a bookmark in her book and straightened up a bit, pulling Mortality tighter in her arms and petting him. Her eyes followed his jump onto the back of the couch. He was a little further out of range now, but if he wanted to do anything but pester her, he would have to get in range of her book. She grabbed his tail and squeezed it tight, yanking it slightly. "And I am Ameretat. The concept of immortality in the Zoroastrian tradition. Don't ask me, my father has odd sensibilities." Even talking to a stranger, it seemed she could never resist a dig at her family.
