Night was coming, and daytime was dieing with it's approach, the sun's life was slowly being snuffed out by the encroaching darkness. It's final desperate rays reaching across the sky to cast their final moments of glorious light across the land.

Dolly stood alone in an open field the dieing sun's rays cast brilliant colors against her deep golden coat. On three sides of the open expanse of grass, the forests , thick trees that always blotted out most light.. Farther out in front of her on the horizon, jagged mountains jutted into the sky. Their majestic peaks disappearing into the clouds. The sight made Dolly smile, just slightly, that was her home. A cozy area high above the land accessible only to those born with the gift of wings and the joy of flight.

She wasn't sure what had drawn her down from her home into the low plains. Wasn't hunger, nor could it be any need to see another. Not even her own children could bring her down if they wanted to. Thoughts of her children gave the mare pause, she hadn't seen hide nor hair of any of them in many moons.

"Hmph! Who needs them .."
she spoke softly to herself and shook her mane "failures .. every one of them." She tossed her head, creamy mane flopping against her neck.

Her wings snapped open ready to take slight for home, but somehting cause her pause again. Brown eyes examined the out stretched appendages. Time had healed them form their battered and bruised state to their fine form now. A few scars still showed on some of the long prime feathers but that was all. Before she even realize dit rage and hate were boiling her blood like magma. No creature. no lowly grounded would ever lay hooves on her again like her birth herd had.

The sunset painted the sky in creamy pinks and sherbet oranges, a perfect pallet of calming, tranquil colors. The warmth of the spring's breeze fluttered his silver bangs across his eyes, making them flop to one side, his braids clicking together. His angel wings were kept close to his body, tucked against his sides as the slender stallion moved. With each step, it was like a beautiful dance, his muscles rippling under a teal-hued pelt. He swung his hips to the sides, his eyes pressed shut as his heart played a drum beat that no one else could hear.

It was nearly dark out...and night was the perfect time of day. In the sunlight, you could see every inch of perfect coiled muscle and sleek coat, a thick and healthy mane, and those blasted wings... He tucked them tighter; he was no angel. He should've been born with his father's simple wind wings, not his mothers...angelic ones. He frowned, but only danced faster, rearing up on his hindquarters with a shrill that blasted through the air like a trumpet.

As he dropped back to all fours, one hoof nicked the back of his other leg. He felt a swell of pain, a tingle against his skin, and paused his dance to discover the new wound. Another new scar, self-inflicted... It just proved that he was no angel.

So lost in her thoughts, and daydreams was she that she barely heard the sound of approaching hooves, and Dolly had always been very attentive to her soundings.

She stood stock still, seeming to be a vibrant statue of marble, her sleek but powerful muscles rolling gracefully beneath her deep golden coat, light speckled with dapples and a long creamy mane that lay gracefully against her neck and along tail rest behind her some strands almost but not quiet touching the earth bellow. Small dainty cloven hooves hid behind thick yet silky hair on her fetlocks. She had a small well defined head, from which jutted a horn of ivory, perfectly spiraled to a sharp needle point, and large brown eyes that could have been soulful and deep but now were filled with bitterness and hate at the worst of times then disdain or complete lack of any emotion at the best.

When finally did a soft breeze tickle her out of her dark revelries did she hear them. Instantly she was that statue come to life, head throw up. The sun at her back cast her in a brilliant form, framing every graceful curve. Yet it threw such shadows across her as to make her look more fearsome than she might have manage don her own. A rouge ray somehow fond it's way perfectly into the ruby that hung on it's silver chain about her neck and cast part of it and her chest in a deep crimson, as if something had ripped the mare's flesh asunder to leave her to bleed out her life's blood there.

For a moment, she kept her horn and hooves, ready to attack the soquili now headed her way should he or she get to close, for all she could see was the faintest outline of them.

But as they drew nearer she caught his scent more, a stallion, closer still she saw the outline of wings folded tightly agaisnt his sides. Instantly she visibly relaxed and let herself study him closer.

His coat was a brilliance of blues, aquas, and whites with a black and white mane and tail. Instantly she was reminded of an angry frothing sea as it violently threw itself against large black rocks.

She waited until he drew nearer to finally speak, "good evening.", her voice was not overly soft and dainty like other mares. It held strength of purpose, maybe a hint of interest in him, but otherwise was calm with no inflection of other emotion.
