Paxx made it home and had barely gotten a bite of kibble before passing out at his food bowl. The bright rays of sun streaming in through the kitchen window of his owner's home woke him to a brand new day. He yawned and stretched, opening his eyes to realize where he had fallen asleep. He sniffed and took in the smells of the human's morning drink... coffee... he'd heard it called. It's aroma filled his nose, giving him more reason to wake up and find somewhere else to be. The smell was just too pungent.
He made his way to the doggie door in the back of the house and stepped outside. The sun just peeking over some trees nearby so he knew it was still early in the day. He did his usual morning business and found the bone he had mentioned the day before and lazily chewed on it for a few minutes. Today was his day off, so he was allowed to do whatever he wanted. Other days, he would already be at the precinct starting his morning training.
Fully awake now that he had done all his morning rituals, he squeezed under the fence hidden by some bushes in the backyard. He then made his way over to the house of the dog and boy from the day before. He had told her he would come by and check up on her, and that was precisely what he was doing.
As he neared the house, he was cautious not to alarm any humans nearby, but made his way into their yard and up to the front door.

Reid's parents had been incredibly worried as soon as they returned home, which was shortly after their hero had left. Of course, the police had called them. Pua had been very glad that they didn't punish her for putting Reid's life in danger. In fact, they rewarded her with treats and lots of hugs. All of which she felt was undeserved. No, that blue dog that had saved both of them was the one that deserved the treats and hugs. To make sure they didn't worry about her, she had eaten some of the treats but saved the rest. Her hero was coming back. He would forever be her hero now. Anyone that saved the life of her Reid deserved everything good in the world.
The next morning, Reid's parents stayed home from work. She could understand. After what happened, they would want to make sure he was safe. So she was allowed to go outside and do whatever she wanted to do. But she only stayed outside long enough to check the backyard, making sure that there were no hidden dangers should Reid want to come outside too. Then it was back in the house for her. Her hero was coming, she had to wait for him. So she sat by the window looking out over the front yard.
It wasn't long before she saw a familiar sight. Pua felt excited and happy that he had come. She quickly pushed open the screen door, grabbed her bowl with the treat in it with her teeth, and stepped outside to greet him. "Hi." She smiled at him a bit shyly. "I saved some treats for you. Umm, I didn't get your name after you saved us."

He was surprised at her generosity. "Thank you for the treats miss. My name is Paxx, and I am a K-9 Officer of the city police department." He replied to her. Not wanting to be rude, he stepped forward and took one of the treats and gobbled it down rather quickly. He licked his lips to remove any crumbs and sat down across from the saluki.
"Pua, wasn't it? How is your human today? I hope he was okay after that terrible incident yesterday. Today's my day off, so I don't know exactly what happened with the criminal, but rest assured, the human officers are doing everything possible to keep him behind bars." He nodded with a low "ruff", giving extra affirmation to his statement.

Pua ducked her head a bit shyly before responding. "Your welcome. It's nice to know the name of my hero." Oh, she hadn't meant to say hero. But it was already out there hanging between them. She quickly added, "A K-9 Officer! That would explain how you knew what to do." He must get into dangerous situations a lot then. She had to applaud his bravery. It was dogs like Paxx that kept the place safe for the rest of them. He truly was an everyday hero.
It made her even happier that he had bothered to remember her name. "Yes, he is fine. His parents are home today to watch him so I can relax. I think they had sent something to thank your human for the help." She remembered seeing some kind of thin thing they handed to the mail man but wasn't exactly sure what it was. All she knew is that it was for the owner of the dog that had saved them. It was definitely reassuring to know that the criminal would not be free to terrorize Reid again.
