The Market is by far one of the most crowded areas in the kingdoms. Here, many things are sold, from amulets, to magical items, to fur, to fine jewelry, and potions. You can find anything here, and depending on the person, you can find it for the right price. When in the Market, you must move fast and finish your business quickly, or many people will gladly trample you. The Market is most busy during dark evenings.

Lele walked steadily from the Town Center to The Market. Her bare feet seemingly odd amongst the shoes people wore. It wasn't as crowded as she thought it would have been, but she knew it wouldn't last long. As she made her way around the different stalls she let herself take in the different delicacies and items. There was more food here than she had ever eaten in her entire life. That says something about what her diet use to be.

Lele found herself gravitating towards one of the rustic stalls that had homemade jewelry. Soon her nose was in the stall looking at the different necklaces. The lady seemed a bit impatient with her to pick something and buy it, but alas she was penniless. She had no job and no family to live off of. She was completely alone in this kingdom. Her family now dead and any unknown relatives she had didn't know about her and vice versa. As soon as she looked up to the lady and backed away form the stall the woman sneered at her. Lele apologized in her head and wandered from stall to stall. She knew she couldn't buy anything, but at least she could relish in the beauty of it all.

As Lele went from stall to stall she let her mind ponder. Her thoughts were somewhat jumbled, unable to comprehend how she would survive in this world with no more, friends, or family. She had no idea where he contractor was, so he was of no use. She killed her last known relative, and for good reason. The only way she would get money is by begging and things along those lines. She didn't want to sell her body for she was ashamed of the marks it already bore. She didn't want to add to those marks. Before she knew it the market became more crowded. People filed in looking at the stalls and buying things. Letting herself move to the side of the traffic she sat against one of the walls in between a stall and closed her eyes.

"Never trust a man who can't look you in the eyes...

The marketplace. A gathering of warm bodies, fresh food, valuable items, and most importantly, pockets to be picked. Ky was drawn to the prospect of quick money, especially after spending his teen years as a street rat. What made it easier now was his mastery of stealth and camoflauge-- no one ever cared to send a glance his way. He was formidable enough to ignore, but not to be wary of. A perfect balance, he was born to be a thief. Rather ironically, he had the ability to thieve the crown itself... Though Ky had no intentions of doing so. He despised nobility, couldn't see himself as one of those pompous rich idiots.

As the young man made his way through the crowds, his bright red eyes scanned the populous for a target, for a victim. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be anyone with cash to spare, as it was still early in the morning. Not the time for leisurely browsing. He sighed with annoyance, deciding it might be best to just head to the nearest tavern and pick up a job. He didn't feel like getting his hands dirty, but he knew there was no other way to get bread in his stomach. So, he pushed through the crowds irritably, wishing that life were easier.

But, as he made his way through, he couldn't help but notice one aura in particular. A woman to his left. She was leaning against a wall with her eyes closed and her mind troubled... Ky could feel it rolling off of her in waves, she was helpless. Her life had taken a turn for the worse somewhere down the road and now, now she didn't know what to do. He didn't have to read her mind to know it; he was once that poor soul. The demon's cold heart went out to her, and he couldn't help but hesitate in his steps. He decided he would do her kindness, just as some young man had done for him years ago.

Discretely, the demon made his way to the stall next to her, which just happened to be selling baked goods. Though he wasn't rich, he still had enough money to pay for a small cake and still have some coin left over... It worked out well. He bought one and stepped away from the stall, glancing furtively at the young woman. She looked beautiful in her own way, as she leaned there against the wall. And yet, pitiful.

Ky let no more time go to waste, stepping up to her with a somewhat friendly smile. "Miss?" He asked quietly, getting her attention. Before she could cringe in fear or run away, he took her hand and placed the warm cake in her palm, along with two coins. In the back of his mind he feared that she would be offended, that she would think she looked poor. But that wouldn't, and shouldn't, matter to him at all. He wouldn't see her ever again, and she did need it.

He gently let go of her hand, then, starting to step back into the crowd, feeling strangely happy about himself. Was he turning into a Robin Hood?

... He's bound to be hiding oblivion in his heart."

Lele's eyes moved underneath her eye lids as she sat against the stone wall. Her back began to hurt from being there a while, but she had no energy to do anything. She felt like just laying down and icing over. No one knew her in this forsaken world. Her family had only kept her alive for their own pleasures to be fulfilled. Letting her hand move to her arms that had been tied in so many different places so she couldn't move when her father did things that were unspeakable to her. The rope marks remained a white scar, only seen when the moonlight hit it just right. Those weren't the only scars that bore a mark on her body. There are many other in various places.

A voice roused her from her thoughts. Looking up to see a man handing her something she was pretty sure was food. Her eyes were blurry form keeping them closed too long so she couldn't make out his face, but something about him made her stand and grab on to the back of his shirt after he placed the food in her hands. "E-excuse me...this..." she trailed off not sure what to say for such kindness was unknown to her. First the woman at the bar and now this man. Although, this man seemed more menacing than the warrior at the pub. She couldn't think of any words to tell this man, but she knew she couldn't let him leave. This man was something she needed to hold on to. "Where...are you going..." she said knowing it was a foolish question seeing as she had no place in his life to ask such personal questions. With all her might she thought of some way to make him stay. She could probably be read like a book at this moment. Her eyes were the windows to her soul. Letting her hand drop she knew it was futile. Letting her body sweep down into a bow; up-righting herself she looked him in the eyes "Thank you..." was all she mustered up to say before she awaited him to leave her never to be seen again.

"Never trust a man who can't look you in the eyes...

Ky thought he had finished with the stranger, but feeling a firm grasp on the back of his shirt, and hearing a frail but thankful young voice... He turned around to face the woman, smiling halfheartedly. She seemed flustered as she searched for the words to tell him, eventually asking where he was planning to go off to. It was a bit cute how she could think of nothing better, but he knew he couldn't tell her the truth. "I don't think you'd like the place I'm going." There was an ominous undertone to his reply. Indeed, she wouldn't be so eager to hold him back if she knew what he really was. A murderer, a killer, all for a sum of gold... It wasn't an honorable occupation, rather repulsive actually. She didn't have to know.

It was then that she seemingly gave up, letting go of him and rather respectfully bowing. Ky had to chuckle, considering he was of no position to be given such courtesy. Yet, as she thanked him, looking into his eyes, that smile faded. He averted his gaze from hers, realizing that he was becoming too close. It was just like this, with a small deed of good, that he had fallen in love for the first time. He didn't expect it then, he didn't believe in partnership, and yet it happened. "I only did what was right..." He quietly replied, starting to step back. It was best for the both of them if he just left. But was it really worth it?

... He's bound to be hiding oblivion in his heart."

Lele let her eyes fall to her feet when he turned his head from her. She knew it wasn't right for her to pester this man, but for her to survive she would have to become something she wasn't proud of even thinking of. She would have to be something she was not. A needy little girl doing anything to get something she wanted. The man whispered something, but it was so quiet she couldn't make out what he was saying. She had originally planned on backing away and leaving the man alone, but she had to do what she had to do to survive.

As the man began to walk away she grabbed his arm "Where ever it is you're going...you need to take me with you...i'm in a bad position right now and some men are after me..." she said. Half of it was at least a little true. Looking at her she looked a bit sad. Wrapping her arms around his she hugged it tightly. "Please don't leave me here..." she said trying to act small and frail like a little girl. If he didn't go for the little girl act she could change it to something a bit more adult. She didn't care where he was going or who he was, but he seemed like a nice companion at least until she could get her affairs in order to start living her own life for a change.

Letting her arms remain planted onto his arm she let her eyes wander around his facial features. Her now not so blurry vision was clear. She could see the definition in his chin and his brilliant eyes. His looks were very mesmerizing. She found it hard to believe he took the time to bring her the food that was still in her hand with her fingers curled tightly around it. Not breaking eye contact she was determined to go with this man whether she was frozen to his arm or not.

"Never trust a man who can't look you in the eyes...

As soon as he had taken his next step away from the woman, she grabbed his arm, starting to plead to him to take her along. Ky frowned a bit, looking down at her and listening to her reasoning, hearing that apparently she had men after her. Being a merc himself, he would've known if she had a price on her head-- and, to be quite honest, she didn't seem like she had reason to be a bounty. Then again, she could've gotten into recent trouble... Whatever it was, the demon didn't quite believe it. What he could believe was that she was in a bad position to be left on her own, without protection or money, in the marketplace.

The demon sighed a bit, feeling Lele hug his arm tightly, watching her with a bit of remorse. She really didn't know what she was getting herself into... He contemplated for a moment, whether he should tell her the truth now or just show her at the tavern. No, it would be best not to lie, and at least that way she wouldn't be able to hold anything against him in the long run. As he was about to begin speaking, he noticed her eyes slowly travel down her face, studying his features carefully. And then back up to his red eyes, seeming curious and full of determination.

He faltered, before starting to speak. "Listen, miss, I'm not the type of man you should stick with. I'm a mercenary. You know what that means, yeah? I kill for a living." Ky sighed a bit, using his free hand to unsheathe his faithful Agni and hold the dagger up for her to see. He was careful not to make it seem like he was threatening her, but at the same time needed some sort of proof to make her realize he wasn't joking around. "Do you really want to tag along with me?"

... He's bound to be hiding oblivion in his heart."

Lele sighed a bit. Even with all her forwardness and helplessness the man still made up excuses. Smiling at him her expression a little different than the innocent one she had used up until now "Look, I don't care that you kill people.." she said as he unsheathed his dagger. Looking at it a moment she put her finger on the blade and ice sprouted from her finger spreading on to the dagger. "Besides you don't seem like the type to hurt poor little ole' me." she said removing her finger from the blade.

Keeping her eye contact she let one of her arms fall to her side the other still intertwined in his arm. "So why don't we just call a truce until we find reason to kill each other..." she said. The moon came out from behind the clouds shining on the marketplace lighting it up. The light soaked Lele's skin. Showing all the scars that weren't covered by her clothing. The few puckered white scars on her arm stuck out the most among the discolored non-puckered scars. "I think I've been threw enough for my life time...it's about time I made some friends and started inflicting more pain than i've gained..." she said.

"Never trust a man who can't look you in the eyes...

She didn't care? Ky wasn't sure he had heard her right at first, but watching her smile morph and seeing ice slowly form down his blade, he couldn't doubt. The demon was surprised, though, as this was the first time his profession was met with such apathy. Every other person had shied away or even ran from him at the mention of murder, but she was fearless. It was then that she pointed out he wouldn't hurt her, and there was no denying that it was the truth. He had no reason to.

He then felt her grip on his arm loosen, as she dropped one and started to reason with him. Again her eyes staring deep into his own, as if to search for the secrets he hid. The moon then came out from its hiding place behind the clouds, giving Ky a reason to break away and instead study her now evident scars. For a moment he wanted to reach out and touch them, feel her past wounds beneath his skin, but he knew it wasn't his place. He felt a bit sorry that any woman should endure so much, but the fact that she was standing before him proved she was strong enough. That made him respect her just a bit more.

"Alright. If you're sure about this then, we'll be allies. You won't hurt me and I won't hurt you..." The demon paused for a moment, glancing down at the arm she still held. "If we're going to be allies, I suppose it would help to know my name?" He smiled a bit, though it seemed strange on his face; he was never one to crack jokes. "Call me Ky."

... He's bound to be hiding oblivion in his heart."

Lele let her eyes drop when his own began to examine her face and arms. He seemed to show a bit of respect for her lasting this long with such ugly scars. She didn't know how she should have taken it, but didn't let it bother her too much. The moon was once again covered by clouds leaving it up to the torches that were placed strategically around the market to light up the world. The market had become a lot more crowded by the time she had taken the time to pull her attention from this man to look around.

Allies sounded good and refreshing to Lele. The idea of him being so familiar with a name made her jealous. She hadn't had a name until recently. The name he spoke rolled off his tongue to easily like he was use to saying it out loud. Of course he was he got it at birth. Nodding her smiled and held her hand out for a shake "I'm...Lele..." she said using the name that felt right that was someone implanted in her memories. "So this means I can tag along with you right? Well then, we should probably get to know each other a little better to avoid these kind of moments in the future." she said "What are you willing to tell me about your life before now, beside the fact you kill people for a living...".

"Never trust a man who can't look you in the eyes...

As Lele outstretched her hand, the demon took it and shook it once, firmly, as he was taught to do. She sounded unsure when she said the name though, which made Ky wonder if she had made it up on the spot-- no matter, as long as he had some title other than 'you there' to address her, it didn't matter what name she gave. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He quietly stated, before she began on the next topic.

What about his life could he tell her... This question stumped Ky slightly, considering he wasn't at all interesting. His daily routine was a boring procedure of wake up, get a job, kill someone, make money, eat food, sleep. Repeat. As for his past, it was rather average for a person of his caliber. "Well, I don't think there's much to tell you... I was abandoned by my original parents and left in the care of a couple staying at a nearby inn; they barely took care of me, I was shoved out of the house at 16 with a dagger and bread. So, I turned to thievery and assassination. That's where I stand now, nothing's changed, and I doubt it ever will." The demon refrained from saying much else, knowing that he was leaving out a key fact. He was abandoned for good reason.

But, with that being said, he smiled a bit and took her hand. "Anyways, we have two mouths to feed now... So I guess its time I get myself another job." He put a slight emphasis on the word job, using the tone he would with any client. Nevertheless, Ky held Lele's hand tight, dragging her carefully through the thick night crowd to a now-busy tavern. It would certainly make it easier to find a ransom poster, but he feared that one of the stupid drunkards would try to make a jab at his new companion. He simply couldn't stand drunken men.

... He's bound to be hiding oblivion in his heart."

═━┈⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯┈━═

Lele nodded agreeing to it being a pleasure to make the acquaintance of such a person. She hoped that it would be a long lasting relationship for she didn't know much about this person, nor did he know much about her. She was hoping to understand his motives to living such a life a bit form his life story as she had asked him about only a few minutes after introducing herself formally. What he began saying she knew was only part of the story seeing as the question had stumped him in the beginning and it took him a minute to sort out how to explain it to her.

Through his story the wheels in her head were turning. He wasn't cared for much, just like her, but at least he had people to consider his family. The idea of doing the same thing for several years made Lele's skin crawl. She had never liked the thought of staying the same mostly because the only things in her life that had stayed the same was what her father did to her. Shaking her head a bit she attempted to shoo away the idea of her father when he was dead; by her own hands. Nodding slightly she thought she would save her life story for another time "Maybe i'll tell you my story when you finish with her business..." she said seeing him begin to move after taking her hand.

His strong warm hand wrapped around her icy small ones. As he lead her through the crowd her eyes were kept on their hands. He held hers tight, but gentle at the same time, like she was a fragile object. She was entranced by it, she hadn't noticed the small smile that had spread across her face. The smile he gave her after taking her hand etched its way into her memories leaving a warm tingly feeling in her chest. She was acting strange and it took her a minute to come back to reality.

The sound of him speaking to her again brought her eyes up to the back of his head. He was making a path for both of them to walk through the crowd. She pondered the fact that now he would be burdened with two mouths to feed and she piped up and said "Don't worry, i'm use to not eating much..." she said. Remembering that she still had the food he had given her in her other hand. Bringing it to her lips as they approached the destination she took a bit savoring the food letting it glide down her throat. She had never had something so good and surprisingly fresh to eat before.

Entering the tavern she held onto his hand a bit more tightly than before her fingers willingly wrapping around the back of his hand as much as they could seeing as how they were so small compared to his. Shifting her gaze from person to person she refrained for making eye contact, but allowed enough visual time to decide if they were drunk or not. Letting her hair fall over her shoulders she covered her face to prevent any disturbances from unwanted people. There were many posters plastering the wall in the back of the tavern. Each price ranging from a small amount to a very high amount. Some more scary than other picture wise, but one stood out to her. It was a man with a scraggly beard and frightening eyes that seemed to be able to see to your very soul. She wished somewhere deep inside her that he would not being taking that one job, but she knew it was not her place to tell him what and what not to choose job wise.

"Never trust a man who can't look you in the eyes...

Soon after the two had entered the tavern, Ky heard the regretful remark about being used to smaller portions of food, which caused the demon to worriedly and rather protectively look back at the young woman. "Listen, I don't care if I have to skip a few meals, you're going to eat as much as you like. I get good money if I play my cards right." He tried not to be as loud with the latter comment, not wanting others to think he had money on him to be looted. All he had were his rubies, which he would prefer not to lose. They were priceless for they held memories that softened his heart.

The demon and the girl ventured deeper into the tavern, to the back wall where the majority of posters were hung up. Ky felt her hand squeeze tighter around his, and he understood why. The people here were not good. When he had warned her earlier that she would not like the places he was going, it wasn't a blind statement. Nonetheless, he kept her close behind him, making sure he could feel the warmth of her body and feel the presence of her mind. Waves of fright started to radiate off of Lele after awhile, causing Ky to wonder. What was it that bothered her? And then he noticed the poster she stared at. An unkempt man on one of the posters, who seemed perhaps the most formidable foe. And yet, judging by his appearance, the man was retired and likely to be an easy kill. The bounty on him wasn't half-bad either...

"You'd prefer if I didn't, though." He murmured to himself, deciding to scan the wall for anything else viable. To match in price was a young woman, seemingly a worker of the nearby church. Ky had no idea why anyone would want such a person dead but, hey, it wasn't his place to question. Simply get his fair share of money... Hopefully Lele wouldn't mind. Then again, it was murder no matter what way you looked at it. She may be brave in the face of danger, but in the face of slaughter?

"Alright. I found one." He said quietly, snatching down the poster and rolling it up, shoving it into his back pocket. He glanced over at the woman who still held his other hand. "Do you... You're not going to watch, yeah?" The demon wasn't sure how to put it. He supposed he just didn't want her to have to see him commit such atrocity. As soon as she gave her yes or no (even a maybe) he took her back through the crowd of drunks to a less nerve-wracking place out in the market, taking a moment to run his plan through his mind.

... He's bound to be hiding oblivion in his heart."

Innocence lost one crimson night

═━┈⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯┈━═

Lele saw him follow her gaze to the picture that disturbed her so much. The main reason it disturbed her as it did was because the took in his eyes was similar to that her father would give her. The look she knew so well that told her that he was about to do something that would involve her in pain. Feeling a shiver run down her spine it subsided when he accepted the fact she didn't want to do that one. Washing her in relief as instead he picked a person who seemed to work at a church. It made her wonder what kind of people lived in this world if even people of a so called god even did bad things.

A comment Ky had made about her eating habits made her feel a bit awkward. She had never heard someone say something along the lines of holding her before themselves. It had always been her father and mother before herself. Any scraps they had left were hers to enjoy and most of the time they left nothing; not even a crumb. She didn't want to burden this man to the point that he would lack food, so when the time came that he offered her food she would attempt to suppress her hunger at least a little.

As Ky took the poster off the wall and shoved it in his pocket she kept her eyes on her feet after separating her eyes from he man in the poster. When he asked her if she wanted to witness the murder of the woman she smiled at him "Yes..." she said not caring much for the death of people seeing as she hasn't ever held life close to her heart in any way. The idea of life and the concept of it. How people treasure it and protect others to keep it. She just didn't under stand it very much.

Making their way back through the crowd of drunkards and almost-drunkards Lele let her hand loosen a bit form his own scared that she might have been holding a bit too tightly. So their destination was the church. Where the woman they are suppose to kill awaited her fate. Lele wondered if the woman knew she was going to be killed. Did she know she committed a sin great enough to be added to the assassination wall? and if she did know wouldn't she go into hiding; unless she is planning on seeking redemption from god. Which in this case won't help much seeing as god wouldn't protect her now.
