Rime wasn't one for sticking around a scene of a kill for too long. As a lone saber, he was fairly strong, but knew that a pack of dire wolves or even other sabers would be able to chase him off. Still, when an old mammoth died, there was enough food to go around for lots of mouths. The pack of canines that had made the kill had moved on, leaving lots of nice bites left behind. After chasing some larger birds off, Rime settled in for a good meal. He kept his eyes peeled, though, constantly looking this way and that. He couldn't let his guard down and, as much as he hated to admit it, having a companion around would certainly ease his worries. He was used to being alone, though, and he liked what he knew for the most part. Change could be scary, but then again, it could also bring around incredible improvement.

BlueMoon slowly made her decent off of the mountain side down into the valley. She didn't usually hang around the valley too much, but the prey in her normal hunting spots had grown sparse, so she figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to hang out in the valley for a moon or so. It wasn't like she had a set territory or a family waiting for her. She just went where ever the hunt was good. It wasn't long before the sweet smell of meat flowed into the blue saber tooth's nose. "Mnm..." She said to herself, eager to eat after her journey. Along with the smell of meat however, she smelt another saber tooth, this she didn't find quite as appealing. Blue crouched down into the defensive position and crept her way down until she could see the other saber tooth eating. He didn't seem aggressive, and he was on the other side of the mammoth so, slightly against her better judgment, Bluemoon calmly stood straight once more and walked to the meat. If she wasn't so hungry she would have just moved on, but she was hungry, and there was plenty of meat to go around. "Hello" She said in a semi friendly tone as she approached the meal. She kept her eyes on the other saber but didn't say anything else to him as she began to eat.

Rime's nose was buried in the mammoth meat and didn't notice the female until she spoke. He lifted his head in mild surprise, his cool exterior not shaken even if his warmer interior was. He bobbed his head in greeting but remained silent otherwise, resuming eating even as he kept his eyes on her. He certainly hadn't seen her before, and he was familiar with these parts. She certainly was a pretty little thing, he mused to himself as he chewed. A bright blue pelt with a few designs, and intense yellow eyes that stood out against the blue and white. She was polite as well - as far as he could tell, anyway - and as he got down to the bone of the leg he was chewing on he allowed himself a little smile. Perhaps she'd be worth his time. After cleaning himself up a bit, he lifted his own blue head to gaze at her directly. "And what do I owe the honor for not being chased off to? The sheer size of the beast?" he asked, blue eyes fixated on the female. He was hoping it would be another reason, of course.

Glad that the male didn't run her off Bluemoon continued to eat. She did keep her eyes on the male though, he was not to be trusted. Also, he was rather appealing to look at. He had a very nice strong build, and definitely looked like he could hold his own, but he seemed to not be too snobby about it. That alone was enough to interest her. She wondered if this was his territory that she was on.
Blue moon couldn't help but raise her eyebrow when she realized he was smiling. What is he smiling for? It's not like I did something funny or that stupid. I don't think at least. Blue thought, unsure how to deal with the gesture.
Blue looked up, focusing more on his eyes as he spoke then his body. She finished chewing and licked her chomps to clean them slightly. "Among other things. You didn't chase me off, so it is only fair that I give you the same courtesy." She took another bite, then resumed speaking once she was done chewing. "What are you smiling for?" She asked, her curiosity rather then hostility shown in her tone.

Rime watched her with an even gaze as she returned his question with one of her own. He did enjoy others that pressed him for information rather than falling silent, leaving him to carry the conversation. He wasn't incredibly talkative, but when it came down to it, he could shoot the breeze. He preferred to have conversations that went somewhere, did something meaningful, taught him something new. And right now Rime was very interested in learning all about the female. "Is it not in our nature to smile when presented with something beautiful?" he returned, the quirk of his maw not leaving his face. "It is hard to keep the joy inside, and smiling is a very natural way to let it out." He pushed himself to his feet and padded a bit closer to the blue female, his bright eyes locked on hers. "Might I have the pleasure of learning your name?"
