Making Candles and Soaps?

I want to start making my own candles and soaps, but I don't know where to start. Any advice? Also, what should I use? What do I need?

This can be pretty expensive. Like buying the melting pots and all that.

Though at Michael's the other day I saw they were selling wicks and other materials for candles so try there. smile

Also Hobby Lobby, if you have one nearby, has tons of soap/candle making supplies. My fiancée and I used to make them all the time. You should be able to find kits like this to get started. And yes, it can get expensive, but it's really fun! Use online coupons and get your supplies cheaper. Also I recommend searching your local library for candle/soap making books. They have some really cool design ideas in them ^.^
