We Are Family

Quote:
The Ex-Alpha

Username: Ladyfirefox89

Soquili name: Salyne
Soquili Temper: Blood-thirsty

Personality: There are two sides to Salyne. The one she shows to non-kalona or to kalona she wishes to fool, and the one she shows around only other kalona.

Around non-kalona, she acts like sunshine and smiles. Seemingly nice and a little soft-spoken. Some would also describe her as a little air-headed.

But that is only a front to get closer to those she wants to find weaknesses of. She pretends to be nice and sympathetic, caring even. And to those who think her air-headed, well, they would soon find themselves dead wrong. The only reason she might pause to answer a question or react to the other soquili is from trying to keep her composure. She would have to pause, freezing her face in the bubbly smile as her insides wretched with disgust over how the other soquili was.

But around those she does not need to hide her true self from, she lets her darkness seep through. Thoughts come fast and easy to her, rarely is she at a loss for what to do when it comes to battle strategy or dealing with the average soquili. It is what helps her to be able to rally her troops, to raise their moral in an epic speech. If she had a weakness in speech, it would be compromise. She is not trained in negotiations.

She takes her time to think through everything. The only time this is not found to be true is in the heat of battle. In battle, all thought is seared away and the instinct to kill an enemy takes over. The only thing that usually breaks through her battle raged mind is the voice of her officers. Telling her how they stand in the battle and advice on what steps need to be taken.

Thoughts on the current events: Salyne's main goal in all of this was to make the weak kawani filth remember how strong and magnificent the kalona race is. They might have lost all the ground her brethren died for, but the memory scorched into the minds of the Kawani means that it was not a true defeat. Yes, she finds herself having to retreat. And though the Lessor's believe them the victor, it is not the truth. She will build her forces anew with the help of Murgoth and her heir, Karmic. It might not be this year, or the next, but the Kawani will soon find themselves at the hooves of their attack once more. Stronger than before, fiercer and more determined then ever.

She will make sure there are no traitors this time. And if she ever finds the piece of sludge that betrayed them the first time, he will not have the chance to even suck in breath for the torment she knows he feels.

Additional Character Info:
~ She is used to being a matriarch and a leader. So she is used to everyone paying heed to her every demand. She does not tolerate back talk or insubordination. If someone does dare to change her in the least bit, she quickly reminds them of why she was alpha and strikes. Even to her family. Though lately, seeing a little bit of herself in her daughter has created a little bit of a soft spot and lets her slide with a few of the smaller remarks.

~ Anything less than pure kalona is only good as a slave. There are many types of slaves, but in the end, it is all the same.

~ To her, the smell of blood is like fresh baked cake. It both soothes and excites her. At times she could gorge herself on the rich taste, devouring it all in one gulp. At others, she drinks it slow; savoring it and the emotions of the beast it came from.

~ Being such a connoisseur of blood, she can tell by the scent of it if the being it belongs to is sick. Some times when she smells the blood of a sickened animal, she will let it live. She detests getting involved with an enemy/play-thing that won’t put up a good fight.

The Ex-Protector

Username: Eauo

Soquili name: Murgoth
Soquili Temper: Ruthless

Personality: He is, in many ways, the epitome of a 'true' Kalona. He carries no love, compassion, or mercy in his heart and to him the greatest aspect of living is to hold dominion over others. The pain of others is a sweet nectar to his soul. He wishes for nothing else than to see the Kawani wiped from the land, but neither is he completely blinded, or made a fool, by his goal. Rather, he realizes it will take hard work and dedication, but he sees it as less of a sacrifice than a passion leading to him, and all of them, to their rightful future.

More than anything else, however, Murgoth believes in sustaining the purity of the Kalona bloodlines. After the war, however, he realized that it is possible for a Kalona to be pure in blood but corrupted in spirit, and this has revolutionized his views on what it really means to be a pure Kalona. One devoid of mercy for others, and especially for their enemies - one who does not falter when the moment comes to kill one's prey. He's seen many Kalona turn on their gods and their own people, already, and he will not ever tolerate such weakness to live near him, again.

He has no problem killing his own kind if it is necessary. Those who are too foolish to be of use will be put down. Those who are born weak in any way are put down. Child, mother, father, it makes no difference to him. Only the strong may be permitted to call themselves "Kalona" and only the strong have the right to breed, to populate the world with more of their kind that they, as a herd, may grow even stronger, still.

Simply put, Murgoth is a ruthless psychopath with a very calculating and cold mind. He is cunning and dangerously intelligent and will kill, in some cases, without any provocation at all.

Yet, despite this, Murgoth is in some ways surprisingly fair in his harsh way of dealing with those around him. He doesn't favor any one individual among the rest because of any trivial sense of affection or, even, family ties. Rather, he only ever recognizes those who are stronger than the rest, who rise above and show themselves to be worthy. In this way, any Kalona born from any other may have the right to stand at his side, regardless of age or sex, so long as they are able to maintain their strength.

After all, Murgoth does not suffer the weak.

Thoughts on the current events: He has been looking forward to the war ever since he and his mate found out about the Kawani's vanity and pride, and how they could ever possibly forget the might and terror of the Kalona. Such a thing was unthinkable to him, and raised in him a terrible sort of rage that flared and then simmered inside him like a hot, burning, coal.

When the fighting began it was the most glorious thing he'd ever beheld. The death-screams of the weak Kawani was the sweetest thing he'd ever heard in his life. The sight of his mate and offspring bathing themselves in he pain of others stirred in him a passion for his people he'd never quite felt until that moment. It was THAT moment that Murgoth realized that everything he'd ever believed of the Kalona -- the beauty of their ferocity, and the rightness of their ways -- was finally made true.

Then, when their own people turned on them Murgoth could not believe it, at first. How could it be that his own people could do such a thing? Except they weren't entirely his people. Many of them had been strangers called forth by Salyne to aid them in their war. Murgoth did not know them, had not weeded them out as he might have his own flock. And thus this planted a seed of rage in him directed toward the mare he'd called his mate for so long. How could her own tribe be so weak, so polluted and foul?

Yet there was nothing for them to do but the leave in the hopes of regrouping and starting over...

This time, however, Murgoth vowed to himself that he would oversee this new herd the right way. The Kalona way. No weak, foul, polluted Kalona would survive in their herd. They would weed out the infestation and rebuild, from scratch. It would take time. Years, perhaps, but the Kawani had not seen the last of them.

Additional Character Info: Murgoth has been somewhat suspicious and distrustful of Salyne ever since the loss of the war. While he realizes that neither of them could really have predicted the betrayal of their own people it didn't help that the strangers were of her tribe. If she hadn't been so impatient to move, perhaps, then they could have had time to weed out the weak. But they were her people, and so Murgoth had not really thought, at the time, to question it. Now he wishes desperately that he had.

The events of the war will harden him even further, if possible. But Murgoth does still have room to grow. Their losses have been great, and it has been a burden to his mind to think of Salyne as less than what he once believed. Because of this he has turned his attentions even more to his offspring, hoping that one of them will be as strong and pure as himself. It's possible that one of them may be, or perhaps his attention is too late coming.

The Son

Username: Thalea

Soquili name: Karmic
Soquili Temper: Manipulative

Personality:
He is vicious and unyielding, he was raised in a family that believed competition would bring out the true colors of Karmic and Kasha. He grew up knowing that he was the strongest of the children born of the Alpha and Protector and that meant that he would one day be the leader of the Great Clan. This knowledge lead him to have an air of superiority and entitlement surround him. Karmic wanted his kin to follow him and never question his orders, so he learned the art of words to manipulate those who would serve him. He is almost eloquent in his speech, he is able to make them feel that he can relate, when in truth, he cares for no such thing.

Death is fascinating to him, he kills squirrels and watches them as they die; their hearts continue to beat even when removed from the body a few moments after death and at time the body gasps trying to bring life to the already dead shell. Blood soaked his hooves and yet he could not bring himself to care or feel compassion for those he deemed as his Lessors.

There is only one person who knew all his secrets, which made her dangerous to him, for he knew he could love her and that caused him to have fear; he would kill her if he could, but it would cause mother to devour him, because it was his sister, the minion of the Alpha, that he wished to see dead at his hooves. Knowledge is power and Kasha had power over him; he did not let her know it, but every moment she lived it was like an arrow to the heart.

He is a psychopath, he has great temperamental differences such as impulsivity, erratic behavior, and fearlessness which leads him to seek dangers. Karmic has a high disposition for violence which he must constantly combat if he wishes to rule over the Lessors, this causes him to have a lack of empathy and he believes that he is the next great leader sent by the Great Kalona Spirit himself. Even though he is rash, he is calculating and will think things through to a point, for it is not in his nature to make mistakes, for mistakes get one killed.

Thoughts on the current events:
He is filled with an insatiable rage at the end of the battle; his mother was the one to start the call for retreat, the call of failure. There was no strategy to the call, they were betrayed and that cost them the victory in the end. Karmic knew that he should not blame his mother for the betrayal of one of his Kin, but he could not help his irrational behavior. He saw her as the beast who took away his familial right to be leader. Hatred filled his heart toward the Betrayer, he vowed to himself that he would get revenge. The urge to create his own herd, one that rivaled the Great Herd that his mother and father used to bring war upon the Kawani, grew inside of him; the young foul understood that he was not yet ready to lead, he needed to learn more in order to manipulate better. After some thought, the young kalona finally saw that this was all a trial from the Great Kalona Spirit; he sees this as an opportunity to earn the right to be the leader and prove that he is the true leader of the Kalona Herd.

Additional Character Info:

Karmic has some good in him, it is very tiny and almost non-existent. It can be kindled or completely destroyed depending on who the next soquili becomes close to him. He does not like to show that he has this small bit of hope in him for it is seen as weak, and he would rather die than have anyone believe him to be a Lessor.

Quote:
The Daughter

Username: Insane Butterfly

Soquili name: Kasha
Soquili Temper: Misleading

Personality: Calculating, she is quiet and often greatly underestimated by others allowing them to believe she is weak and unimportant. Then when she has been cast so far into the shadows that no one gives her a second glance, she erupts into chaos, discord, and destruction. A fiery passion to prove herself to be above even her strong parents. The respect she held for her brother as a foal quickly diminishes as they grow older and a rift is created in their bond.

As adults they are each other’s worst rival. She vies to be seen as a most formidable foe in the eyes of anyone who crosses her path. She doesn't see her surroundings as something to be proud of. In her corrupted mindset she sees it as something to be cleansed, purified of the lesser races and to show them where their place should be. She would be more than happy to go about, wreaking havoc and mayhem, to watch the lands burn in despair under her watchful eye. She is much too dark and corrupted for her own good. It is very likely to be her downfall.

Internally she yearns for something, a small boon from her chaotic life to let her know it's worth the sacrifice, the bloodshed, and pointless death. Deep down, buried in the deepest part of her heart she hopes for just a little bit of good in her life, to remember innocence and purity. Sometimes Kasha recalls the little bit of light and it expands, but she quickly tampers it down, her corruption much too prominent to let it shine out. How could she be so weak?

Thoughts on the current events:
It should have been hers. Mother had said it would be hers. But no, everything was wrong. It had fallen apart in the peak of the battle. Flickered out like the light in the mortally wounded. How could it just....slip away?

Additional Character Info:
Darker thoughts bubble to the foals surface as she grows older, fights with her brother are more frequent and her outbursts are harder to tamper down. Seeing her brother makes her see red, the only thing keeping their battles from being fatal is their unwillingness to hinder their family line by killing one or the other.

The Story Continues

Their story:

They were not your typical family. There was no love between them and, in fact, love was seen as a weakness that needed to be squashed out immediately. The Alpha and her mate, the Protector, had recently discovered that the Kawani had forgotten their fear and their place, and they knew that such a mistake must be rectified. Thus, a vast army of Kalonas who were all loyal to her and her mate were summoned. They would retake what was rightfully theirs and strike fear into the hearts of the Lessors. The competition that had been forced upon Kasha and Karmic at a young age only became more intense from that point on; they were constantly at each other’s throats, trying to best one another and gain the approval of their parents. Only the strongest could hope to rule a herd as wild and powerful as that of the Kalona, and once the Kawani were rid of the earth their people would only grow.

The herd made their way across the barren lands to enter the lush vibrancy that was the land of Kawani; even the land had forgotten them. Bloody battles raged, and Karmic found himself wanting to fight, to aid his Kin in the war, to bring victory to the superior race. Murgoth did not care if his son entered the fray -- it was up to the Great Spirits to decide Karmic’s fate in the battle field. The young foal fought bravely among the Kalona, his enemy constantly underestimated him due to his size which cost his enemies their lives. Kasha aided the effort as well; using her quick mind, so similar to that of the Alpha, she collected data on the enemy about where they were regrouping after each battle.

It was the eve of the last fateful battle when the Kalona heard the words that they did not want to trust, but knew to be the words of the Gods themselves. They were to lose the battle against the Kawani natives. The Alpha and Protector decided that they would act against fate and still fight the bloody fight, for there was still a chance that they would win, that they would be victorious.

Death, destruction, and chaos raged as blood soaked the earth, painting the land red in the sacrifice of both Kalonas and Kawani. Individually the small family stood, looking over the carnage. They had lost. The Shaman was right in her words and the battle did not end in victory for the Kalonas. They were betrayed by their own Kin; those who had turned soft and felt sympathy for the Lessors. The great herd was broken, Saleyne and Murgoth no longer had control over those who used to follow them; the Kalonas were fleeing in groups away from the gory battle scene. Some ran toward the Kawani and others toward the old Kalona homeland in the far reaches of the dessert where no sane Kawani would travel; the Badlands.

In the end, the Protector found his mate standing atop a pile of bodies, her coat covered in blood. He cast his gaze to the Kawani woods where they would find their children in a similar state of disarray, just as abandoned. Yet they were not alone. The strongest of them had survived, and together they gathered what remained of their loyal forces and turned their backs to the Kawani. They would slip into hiding for now, a fierce vow that the earth would bleed red once more from their restored forces. The Kawani had not seen the last of the Kalona.

Any Plot ideas of what will happen to them after the great Exodus?:
LOOSE IDEAS!
- The family and what's left of the herd go back to the Badlands to regroup. Afterward they start weeding out anyone they feel is no longer strong/pure enough to continue with them.

- Salyne gets pregnant, but the father isn't Murgoth...! In fact, the father isn't even a Kalona! She claims she doesn't remember this happening, but it causes a stir among their family, and Murgoth's simmering distrust is deepened. In truth, the Shaman cast a spell on Salyne that she not remember being seduced by a regular Soquili. It is their hope that when the foal is born the result will sew distrust and anger in Murgoth which will rip the two apart.

- When the foals are born the truth becomes known. Murgoth, in a rage, demands a match with Salyne, claiming that she is a disgrace to the Kalona, that it must surely be her fault they lost the war. His accusations, likewise, enrage the Alpha and she agrees. The two fight, but are so evenly matched that a winner cannot be declared and they tie. Afterward, covered in mud, blood, and sweat, exhausted beyond belief, the two realize that they are evenly and well matched after all. They agree to rule the Kalona herd together, as equals, and their faith in the rise of the Kalona is strengthened. Meanwhile, the Shaman has stolen the halfbreeds to safety, and runs for his life back to the Kawani to tell them this terrible news. But all hope is not lost -- the children of the Alpha and the regular soquili may be the token of hope they've always needed...

- Karmic and Kasha are practically adults, now, and a clear Alpha has yet to be decided. Karmic, however, has had plans of his own since he was a foal and is ideas have only matured and grown sharper over time. He's always blamed his parents for the loss of the war. Now he is old enough to make his own way. He leaves the herd and sets off to form his own. Will others follow him, or is the dream he chases really a nightmare?

- Kasha --- As a young adult she sets out to witness other ways, learn different tactics and use them to her advantage. She vows to be much more powerful than her parents ever where. For what is more terrifying than a bringer of destruction? She hopes to hear her name whispered in fear through the Kawani lands.

- (This plot depends on how Elf feels. We were not able to get a response back in time but we wanted to add in the idea just in case) The Kawani hear rumors that the ex-alpha and her family have survived. But one brave soul refuses to let the past happen again. well, not entirely brave. They decide to hire the Brotherhood to search down the ex-alpha and kill what group they have obtained. In this plot, the Brotherhood accepts and start a search for the newly forming Kalona herd. In the case that the herd is found, a small battle is forged. A few npc of the herd or Brotherhood might even be killed off. It all depends on what stems from the talks with Elf.
