How long had they been travelling? He wasn't entirely certain, all he knew is that he had padded back the way he'd come in a semblance of a daze. It wasn't that he was injured or ill, simply that he was preoccupied by the lioness he had found in his company. She was an odd one to say the least; so set on this goal of her's that she was determined to forego food and drink, in fact, she was so blinded that she put this goal above her own health. To an individual such as him it continued to confuse him, logically speaking it made no sense... after all, an individual needed to be healthy to travel!
Nevertheless, as luck would have it he had been able to offer her a direction and it was under the veiled offer of guidance that he had sought to ensure she didn't die a rather meaningless death. He ensured food and water for them both, and for the bird, when the nagging and very opinionated being deemed it safe enough to descend from the lofty heights she chose to reside in.
This afternoon was of no exception for the lion who had once again sought out water for them to enjoy. Admittedly he had left the fine dining alone, an abnormality given his usual behaviour, but he did have his reasons. You see, Solomon had been keeping track of where they were going, and with each passing landmark he knew that they weren't far off the coast at all. An hour or two of travel and the salt air would hit them - where there was sea, there were much bigger fish. Casting aside the fact that his home was also here, he was more concerned with fattening the lioness up.
He'd make her eat (nothing new), but on this occasion he was going to be sure that she was stuff so full that he would probably have to roll her towards the other pridal regions. Like it or not, Tanana would be healthy by the time he was finished with her! Well, that and he hoped they would have located at least one of her family members by then...
"Chop chop," he announced, glancing over his shoulder with a smile. "We have a bit longer before we reach the region we're looking for, then we can start asking around for info."
