Syndicate spend most of his days alone. He never had anyone to teach him the rules of etiquette or proper ways of behaving so he tended to be a bit rough around the edges. Not to mention he had slept with a Seryph and got her pregnant. He was not interested in love at the time, but didn't seem to mind about seeing others so long as they didn't grow too attached to him. His thought was that if he didn't get attached to anyone then no one could hurt him like his family did. In a way he knew he was being one to hurt others, but at the time it didn't matter so much as it wasn't him who was being hurt. His sister's he never saw and being the only male of the group made him think he was the strongest sometimes. Syndicate was out and about hunting. He had caught an elk and was dragging it back to his cave he had picked out for himself. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was at least able to be lived in.

Lucy stared for a long moment at the trail of blood. There was destruction around it, as though there had been a struggle. She wondered if something big had attacked someone. The only way to find out would be to follow it. She stepped into the trail, heedless of the blood on her. Blood was something she had no problem with. The trail was fresh and, unburdened, she quickly found the end of it- a black dragon and prey. He looked sane enough, and as he was not eating a person, exceedingly boring. She decided to have a closer look and walked sedately closer, but not too close to present a challenge. Besides, she may have no problem with seeing blood and body bits, but... watching something be eaten made her feel a bit repulsed.

Syndicate was about to dig in when he heard some noises. He stopped for a second before turning around to see another pony watching him. For a second he wasn't sure if she was a friend or foe, but still he wanted to make sure she wasn't aggressive towards him before he jumped the gun. He definitely had been kicked out of others turf just for assuming they were going to kill him. "Are you ok?" He wasn't sure what to say but that was the best he could get out.
He then looked back down at the meal he had caught. "If it's this you can have some or..." He looked back at her. "Or if it bugs you I can just put it away and save it for later. There are other things to eat around here anyways." He wasn't as moody as he used to be and he was trying to talk more ever since he had a talk with Bree another dragon.

"You look like a predator and sound like a schoolboy," said Lucy in her low voice. "If you kill, you don't have to care about people caring about you." She watched the limp deer. It was sad, she thought, that someone with so much power was constrained by lesser creatures.
Of course, she was not lesser. No.

Syndicate paused for a second a bit surprised by her answer. "Well sorry for showing concern." He returned to eating his meal before finishing it. "There we go." He looked at the bones left trying to think of how to dispose of them or use them. Eventually he shoved them into the corner of a cave before coming back out. "What brings you out here anyways, although you don't have to tell me if you don't want to? So long as you're not here to try and force me out of my territory or kill me."

"What I think should not matter to you," said Lucy quietly. "You could kill all the ponies who think less of you as easily as a deer, and yet you stand there and apologise." Lucy shook her head. "If you cannot be cured of your delusion, maybe you want to be put out of your misery? I can help you. I am not often kind for kindness' sake. But I would help you."
The air around her became hazy.

Syndicate hesitated for a second. Normally he wasn't one to be bothered by others, but this one was starting to mildly irritate him or was it something else? "Kindness? No thanks. I have some unfinished business I have left to take care of with one relative." A haze appeared around him that was blue.
It had been quite some time since he had thought of it, but this pony brought it out how much he hated his sister. He hated everything about Omardia. How she treated him, how she had shunned him, everything. The pony he was facing for some reason reminded him of the reason he was so angry. "If you do want to fight me then I won't hold back, but I would rather live to see the blood of my one sister stained on her coat."

Lucy's vectors drew back a little, not quite so close to him, but reaching out.
"If you have a reason to live, a reason to hate, why don't you go and fulfill that desire?" asked Lucy rhetorically. "You seem like you're waiting for someone else's permission to do what you want." Lucy was bored now. This creature was sadder than a normal human, he was shackled like they were, like she had been, but he seemed to have accepted his bonds.
She had no patience for that. Her vectors tensed and she savoured the moment before a final blow. Perhaps she would even kill his sister as well, this sister obviously was a reason he was so pitiful which made her so angry.
Angry? Or afraid? Afraid of the same happening to her?
The easiest way to push aside that thought was to kill what made her think it. So.

Syndicate snarled as the vectors hit him. "Because for some ponies I like to see them die a slow and painful death. Why bother killing something immediately? That would be too easy. Besides, some ponies need to be put through the depths of despair before they can fully comprehend what it means to truly feel suffering." He was pretty agitated and at this point he didn't care one bit what this pony was doing here.
Syndicate released some toxins with his breath mixed with some drow magic. Anything that would touch or go near him would rot. Even the grass and plants around him were starting to die. "Then again I guess you must enjoy just killing anything that lives. While I don't mind killing things if I were to just go around destroying random living beings what would happen if you were the last one left? Then what would you destroy or would that bring you happiness?"
He paused for a moment before continuing his rant. "Besides, I also have another reason to live. That reason is to find someone in this world who can accept me for who and what I am and who could possibly love me. If there truly is no one like that after I have explored, then I will admit I was wrong and extremely foolish. I have not yet seen past certain boundaries and I wish to develop my knowledge further than just look like an ordinary beast that likes to slaughter random things with no purpose."

"If there was no-one left alive", Lucy whispered,"there would be no-one left trying to kill me." He face was so pale and her eyes dangerously bright, almost feverish. The strain of not killing this dragon was beginning to tell.
Her eye twitched. "Why do you stay here if you want to find something? Maybe you can't find it because it's not alive. Then I should kill you so you can find it in the afterlife."
Suddenly she smelled the toxins and her vectors punched the ground, vaulting her into the air and she flung herself out of the reach of the toxic gases. He was still in range of her vectors and she could kill him, but it would all depend on his next action.

Syndicate was still on guard incase she would strike again, but at the same time he wasn't going to attack her unless she was gonna throw the vectors back at him. "Others trying to kill you?" He wasn't sure why but he could understand for others wanting to kill ponies. His dad was one of them that barely escaped from the main drow clan. "I may not know why others are hunting you, but I do know my dad was in that situation with the drow clan. Most males are either slaves or slaughtered and killed if found unworthy." He paused. "Although I have no real reason then to complain since I haven't been through that. I've only been cast out and left to die pretty much." He was confused a bit. "Are you a weapon then pretty much?"
He looked at the cave when she mentioned why he staid here. "Well it was the first place I called a home. My dad lived here and tried to raise me. It has the most happy memories, but yet at the same time the most sad." He was beginning to wonder why he did stay here so much if it did bring sadness. He went into the cave before gathering some of his collectibles he had kept only because they reminded him of his dad. He dumped them on the ground before rotting the wooden music box his dad had given him with his breath. "Perhaps it's time I moved on and started my own future." He watched as the haze pretty much devour the collection before it disintegrated.
After the past treasures had been destroyed he gave one last quick look at the pony who had just approached him for an unknown reason, except what seemed just to fight him. "Being hunted is definitely not fun, but not everyone is probably wanting to hunt you. I will say there are a lot of ponies out there that are horrible and mean. Perhaps they outweigh the good sometimes, but I'm pretty sure there is at least one pony out there." He then stretched out his wings before taking to the sky. "Personally if you still want to kill others that bad I won't stop you. However, if I get to the point where I can no longer find something worth loving I will let you kill me then and there if that is what you desire."
He looked around. "If you still want to kill something you're always free to come with me. I am sure there will be enough foolish or mean ponies to kill or torture."

"I am no weapon," said Lucy, landing. "I am myself. I am different from you and all the others. Because I am different, I am a monster to be hunted."
Lucy watched him destroy his things. She suddenly had a horrible, wrenching feeling, a physical feeling, a memory of a dream of someone who wasn't her breaking something like these things, an important relic which made sadness and the anger and cold and wet and fear which followed its breaking. It was wrong to destroy these things. She knew it and she could not stop it.
"I do not like to kill," she admitted quietly. "You are the ones who like to kill."

Syndicate listened to her as she mentioned how she was not a weapon and what she called herself. "A monster, huh?" He let the words set in before saying anything else. "So being different means your a monster how?"
He was completely confused by her last statement. "But I kill more for protection and to feed myself." He paused for a moment. "Besides, normally others don't make an effort to even get to know me or have a conversation." He looked up at the sky then back down not sure what to say. He didn't want to leave her hanging there, but he definitely didn't want to have to kill her if it could be avoided. "Although, maybe I need to try harder."

"Being different made me an enemy and because I am an enemy I must be a monster, something people are allowed to kill. People like to kill. I am only good at it," explained Lucy in the last of her sentimentality.
It felt wrong to now speak to this poor, wretched creature, as though she was being brought down to his level. She couldn't kill it. She would leave. Besides, now she was getting hungry. She should find something to eat.

Syndicate continued to listen to her, even though he was still a bit wary incase if she would strike at him. "Well it's a shame they have to kill you." He continued to let the information sink in. In a way he was starting to feel sorry for her if anything at all. "Although you definitely aren't one to be reckoned with."
He wasn't sure what to do. "So you hate killing, but you have to kill because people want to destroy you." Syndicate knew she was uncomfortable. "Well I hope that you can find some sort of peace some day." He stretched his wings out before flying into the air. He took one last look down. "Well I may or may not be able to help out, but if you need anything feel free to hunt me down. I know that I'm hoping to find someone who can like me for me and not exactly what I am." And with that he flew off in hopes of finding others who could possibly love him for who he was and not only because he had dragon blood in him.
(Mind if we just start up fresh on the next page? I was thinking about it, but I wanted to make sure you're ok with it.)
