someone got lucky with a broken bottle during a bar fight.
Or, rather, unlucky considering how badly he beat them for the cheap attack afterward..
ThemeSong: Tantric- Down and Out. ◖Personality◗ He's a pretty independent and lazy creature, honest about what he wants and what he considers 'important' to him.. And surprisingly gullible, believing what people tell him simply because he's never understood the point of lying. He will become annoyed when he realizes he was duped, of course, but not outright angry.. It was his mistake to believe the lie in the first place, after all. Stone has a very obvious 'I Bite' vibe that most people are smart enough to recognize, he just doesn't like tolerating those not worthy of his time. On a good day he is possessive of what is his, disinterested in what is not, and content to spend his time indulging in his hedonistic life style.. On a bad day the man is predatory, restless, and brooding. Stone
likes fighting, enjoys the rush that comes with dishing out and taking hits.. He doesn't actually care if he wins or loses as long as it is a difficult battle, and oddly enough he shows a sense of respect for those that can best him in this way. It won't stop him from slugging them again, but.. he's less likely to brush them off when they talk to him later. Half of his trouble stems from the fact that he's a Beta type personality, if someone expects him to follow their orders they'd better be ready to prove they're worthy of his loyalty and trust.. Or back off and get out of his way before he points out their mistake with his fist. Being a gargoyle he is a pack creature by nature, enjoying the bonds formed in such a social structure, but so few can keep up with his rowdy and wild behavior that he's learned to function on his own.
Now, for being such a savage brute, he does have a few redeeming qualities.. He is ridiculously protective of children, for one. He has a soft spot for spunky brats, admiring courage and tenacity... As for adults, he's drawn to strong willed and independent types. Anyone that can take his predatory, bellicose, personality and still act comfortable in his presence is more than welcome to stay by his side. Stone acts how his nature demands, facing life with an untamed pride.. But to those rare few who understand and actually treat him like a friend he is viciously loyal and even a little malleable to their will. He's instinctive, taking after his mother's blood with chilling results, and at the oddest of times it becomes clear just how much more 'beast' he is than 'man'.. Showing himself to be a self confident and ferocious individual. He has trouble remembering the importance of 'morals' in the face of his self-indulgent habits.. But he can be persuaded to change his behavior by someone he likes. When he does go out of his way to help a stranger he'll either ignore the victim or chastise them, typically saying something along the lines of:
" If you can't protect yourself, why should I protect you?" But, thanks to a friend's influence, he'll still intervene and ensure they are safe before he returns to his business. Despite what good deeds he may do, the man isn't the hero type and he makes that fact very clear.

◖Abilities◗ Goyle Traits - While he naturally heals quickly his saliva has additional healing properties, a few licks will heal minor wounds.. The bigger the injury the more spit he'll need to mend it. His body has adapted fangs and acute senses common to his species, his sight better suited for nocturnal use but still clear enough during the day, as well as a rather thick skin and skeleton. It takes a little more effort to bruise him, stabbing still works with a bit more strength behind the thrust.. But he's a pretty durable guy. It comes at a price, he must consume stones as part of his natural diet and his power fluxes with the time of day.. At night he his much stronger than in the morning, actually getting sluggish and tired during the daylight hours. He did inherit wings from his mother's blood, yet being a Halfling.. it is a painful experience to unfurl them from his back, the large bat-like structures leaving his flesh torn when he hides them away again. How they fit so neatly away into his human body he has no idea, but they are a part of him and when he becomes agitated they can be seen shifting around under his flesh. It is a good hint to leave him be.
Military Training - He has a proficient knowledge of hand-to-hand combat along with a variety of pinning techniques, his daily training honing his body and ensuring a high endurance.. But he was never the type to plot out a plan of attack. It is easy to provoke his ire, his honest personality making him a ripe target for manipulation or deceit.. Assuming someone is brave enough to risk antagonizing him in such a way. This also makes him unpredictable however, he is the type to act on instinct and impulse instead of logic.
Weakness - The man's greatest weakness is his stomach. Being half gargoyle he must eat minerals regularly, often seen tearing into gravel like popcorn, but being half man.. his hunger extends to mortal foods as well. Feed him well, give him a place to sleep through the morning hours, and he'll naturally lower his guard. Consuming most fruits or vegetables will make him physically ill, drinking too much juice will stimulate a 'drunken' effect until his body can recover from the shock. This makes him much more receptive towards strangers, and lowers his self control.
Balancing Logic and Instinct; In moments of stress he will express instinctive behaviors, sudden surprises can trigger a 'fight or flight' reflex and make it difficult for cognitive thought. In the military they joked about this as his 'berserker' mode, but it isn't that simple. His beastial nature is his natural state, the 'humanistic' side of his personality is a conditioned behavior.. It is a constant struggle for him to maintain a 'moral' standing and, if offered the right temptation, his self control can slip.
Weapon: His body.
◖Historical◗ Stone was raised by his mortal father.. A feisty, shameless old man that not only loved his child but also encouraged his ruffian behaviors. It was hard to believe that his Pops was a Detective, the man seeming to get along better with the city's problem people instead of the straight and narrow crowd.. But Officer Crestlyn was a likeable man to anyone that came across him, a slightly jaded joker with a good heart and a decent head on his shoulders. He understood that life wasn't black or white, but a number of greys between the two.. Maybe that was why, when he realized what a handful his son was growing into, the man embraced Stone's odd nature with open arms. There were rules, he had to follow a basic moral code laid out by his old man, but as long as he didn't cross that outline then he was praised for being what he was. He still got into more fights than he can remember, acting every bit as ferocious and wild as a full blooded Gargoyle cub.. But thanks to his morally-supportive best friend Sasha (Ty) he never strayed from the 'rules' his father had laid out. They were pretty simple anyway.. No theft, murder, abuse, extortion, or cruelty were the obvious ones. Then the stuff about asking instead of taking, being polite in front of women, apologizing when he did something wrong, that sort of thing.. Sasha never understood
why all that was important, but for his Father he did try.
Considering how difficult his personality was and how highly his father had praised them the military seemed like a good idea, somewhere secure and strict that could hopefully tame the restlessness building in him.. While still keeping him somewhat respectable. In the end all they could manage was to 'direct' him, his nature simply too unruly to bend, but it was enough to satisfy Stone's needs. Over time he'd grown into a semi-level headed man, his work earning him respect and renown as a Soldier.. But with that came a rather unfortunate truth. The better soldier he became.. the less he was of the Man his Father had made him swear to be. The day finally came that he could no longer perform his orders, he retired from service shortly after.
After such an impressive service record it was almost a shame to retire from the military life.. But like all good things it had to end, he'd learned long ago how to control himself. Now.. it was time to live as himself, however and wherever he pleased. This knowledge and experience was later called upon by his old friend and war buddy Sasha, the man asking him to teach other unruly kids how to control and feel comfortable with their own natures. While he does enjoy his work in the school he hasn't found a job that is as satisfying as his military work, his extensive energy making him restless.. So most of his nights after work are spent knocking back booze with his old friends or, when he insists, helping Sasha with odd tasks. It never bothered him that his friend left his post all those years ago, he'd understood the Tiger's intentions and.. regardless of what others said.. approved of the man's choice. He made it a point to 'discourage' the fools that spoke badly of his friend after the male was discharged.
