Miranda was trying to get out of the sun. It already burnt her front leg pretty bad. Not only that, but she was getting pretty thirsty. She hoped so badly that a small animal would come along so she wouldn't have to go out and kill a pony, especially with it being broad daylight. She might have to just starve till the sun set.
How she missed the ability to go outside and mingle with ponies, however it was her own fault for her carelessness that caused her to be the way she was now. Miranda closed her eyes and tried to rest a bit. Maybe some sleep would help her recover at least a bit.

Stonecrafter was checking the tunnels for stability. "Looks good." He made mental notes for later work to be done. He spied some tunnel rats. He picked up one and smiled. "Hello little one. Where did you come from?" He put the rat on his back and wandered down the tunnel. He came to the opening. "That wasen't here before. Must be where you came from huh." He saw the lady then. "Hhmm." He walked over and nudged her hoof. "You ok lady?"

Miranda jumped a bit when Stonecrafter nudged her. "Oh my! I'm so sorry is this your cave?" She adjusted her eye sight a bit taking in a brown pony with a rat on his back. For a moment she longed to sink her fangs into it, but she stopped herself. "I um...I'm alright. I'm just waiting till nightfall to get a bite to eat. Although I must admit I am rather hungry at the moment." She looked him up and down. She definitely had not seen this pony before. "I'm Miranda. I wasn't always like this. I used to be a normal earth pony."

Stonecrafter nodded. "I maintain this tunnel. Just became a cave it seems." He looked around the cave opening and took mental notes. "Hmm. Looks safe enough." He heard her and turned back. "You hungry? He took some bread out of his brag and threw it toward her. The rat jumped after it. He turned back to the cave entrance. .

Miranda looked further down the tunnel. "Oh...I'm sorry then if I intruded on your home. I just need somewhere to rest for the day since my skin is burnt too." She watched as the bread was tossed towards her. "Oh thank you." She wasn't sure why he had offered her bread or why he wasn't afraid of her since she could of easily attacked him and drained him of his blood, but she had gotten to the point that she would rather starve herself then attack an innocent pony. She watched the rat keeping an eye on it. How she wanted to drain it's blood, but while Stonecrafter was watching she felt slightly abhorred to start sucking down like a blood thirsty leach.
"Um if you don't mind I'm going to go a little further back. I'll be back in a sec." She shrunk further back in the cave hoping he would not see her and was quiet as anything. She had left the bread for the other rat so he could be distracted as well. There were a couple other rats in the tunnel as she eyed them up. Miranda shook her head. "I can't..." She then came back to Stonecrafter. "Are these rats, your friends?"

Stonecrafter took measurements and went out into the sun. "I see." He had seen what had caused this new entrance and entered the cave. He saw the rat eating the bread and wondered if the gal hated bread. He watched her go back into the cave more. He scratched his cheek while she was gone.
"Rats are rats. I only have my herd as friends. You don't eat bread? Whatcha eat then? Eat a rat if you like meat more." He grabbed the rat who was eating the bread. He walked over to her and gave it to her.

Miranda was partially relieved when he mentioned that the rats were not something special to him. "Yeah. I can only drink blood. I can eat food, but it doesn't fill me up or have any effect on hunger." She took the rat from Stonecrafter looking at it with crazed eyes before sinking her fangs into it and draining every last bit of its blood. "That should help for now at least. That way I don't end up murdering a pony or someone important." She laid down still tired, but not so hungry as before. "So do you live here?"

Stonecrafter listened and watched her. Definitely interesting. "Hmm. So that little amount is all you need? Because there are other blood filled animals in these caves." He pulled out a blanket and put it on her. "Yep, well part of it. I work on the tunnels and have built caverns for my herd. So I guess so." He shrugged. He took out his canteen and some bread. He sat back and had something to eat.

Miranda nodded her head. "I've gotten used to not overeating. I just take what I need to survive." She smiled as he put a blanket over her. "You're really kind for a pony. Most tend to run in terror when they see me starving." Miranda rested her head for a bit. "Oh I see. These caverns are really nice and they seem fairly sturdy." She thought for a while before asking another question. "So, do you have a family?"

He finished his bread and drank some water. "Ah I see. Yep I try to maintain the caverns and tunnels so no one gets hurt. My herd friends. No girlfriend or kids." He stood and patted the bread crumbs off.

Miranda laughed a bit. "Ah I see. Then you are kind of like me in that sense. I don't have kids or a boyfriend." She paused for a moment. "Actually I can't even remember my parents for that matter." She shook her head clear before looking back to Stone Crafter. "Well you do fine work on these caverns if they haven't collapsed."

He walked over to her and eyed her. "Thanks. I don't remember my parents either. You're welcome here anytime." He smiled. He looked at her a bit sheepishly. "Can I see your fangs? If it's ok with you..."

Miranda rested her head on her hooves before raising her head up to Stonecrafter's level. "Well thank you and I guess I will take you up on that offer so long as it doesn't bother you having a vampire in your caves." She cocked her head to the side a bit confused. "I guess if you really want to...although I wasn't always this way." She slowly opened her mouth exposing all her teeth including her fangs.

He smiled. "I'm not afraid to have you in the caves." He looked at her fangs. "Do they hurt your mouth? I'm sorry if I'm being too prying."

Miranda raised an eyebrow in confusion before shutting her mouth, but her fangs were still sticking out. "Well. I can't say that they do." She looked down a bit with sadness in her eyes. "The only thing it does is make me look like a monster if anything." She quickly snapped her head back up to look at Stonecrafter. "Well I must thank you, because I don't know too many ponies who would be ok with a vampire being among them." She paused for a second. "Are you friends with any other vampires for that matter?"
