The nights chilly breeze blew through the branches and leaves of the tree, she swayed with the movement as she sat perched at the very top, a little glowing beckon in the night.
Twinkling skies above her held her attention for the moment, her wings fluttered out behind her with the breeze, she smiled softly and lifted her chin upwards to embrace the chill of the air, winters grasp was still strong over the land.
It was the dead of night, not many creatures were out and about at this time, the sounds of life were scarce and she drank in the tranquil of the silence as her magic worked over those who slumbered soundly.
Each gem on her crown glowed and throbbed as her powers worked, she took deep calming breathes as she wove dreams effortlessly, dreams of others hopes, desires, inner secrets and most wanted wishes.
She weaved dreams of happiness and hope, of things that filled the soul and kept the darkness of life at bay for just a couple hours while the body recharged from the events of the day.
Devika loved what she did, what she brought the worlds of mortals, it was so simple, and yet so beautiful and aided in so many things. Others could find their deepest of truths in their dreams, and she felt the swelling honor of being able to do that for others.
As the night grew on, she sat there, still as if a single movement would break the spell she weaved, though that was not true at all, but she liked to keep her mind focused on the task at hand when she worked, even little dreams during the day she gave her full attention regardless of what she may have been doing before paw.
But as the sun began to rise, and the colors of the sky began to shift and bleed into brighter, warmer hues she could feel the small tendrils of her dreams slipping back to her as those she had been gifting, awoke from their slumber.
A small smile played over her features as she felt a strong gust of wind, she released her hold on the tree top and let the wind pick her small frame up and carry her across the sky, her wings tilting this way and that to keep her airborne without any real effort on her part.
She twisted this way and that as the wind carried her over the winter wonderland of the world, she could see some of the creatures begin to stir from their homes, eyes still sleepy as they stared up at her in wonder.
She could only laugh and smile as she waved in greeting as she danced on the wind as she went by, her scarf danced as well, this way and that behind her as she pawed at snowflakes that swarmed around her, sticking to her coat like tiny white stars, as if she were the night sky.
With a flicker of her wings, she began to fall back to earth, while she had no need to sleep, she did require a snack now and then, well it wasnt as if she would die if she didnt eat, but she enjoyed the experience of it.
So as she descended from the skies, she snatched a rare winter apple and took a bite out of it as she landed in an open field, to which she sat and crunched on her snack while she watched the morning sun come up, and her work slowly untangle itself from those who had once been slumbering.
Devika smiled to herself, what a wonderful day lay before her.
