 Cassandra sat in the back alley on a dimly lit street watching the new world she found herself in. Things had changed so much since she had been human and she was often frightened by the changes around her. She might be immortal and used to the changes, but there were some things you didn't play with. Flight was one of them. What if the gods returned and grew angry with the insolent humans that lived on their planet? She didn't know why people had changed so drastically, but she could see there was no point in telling people around her just what fools they were. The muse turned her back to the street and at the wall to try and avoid most of the sounds and sights of this new world she had found herself living in. She didn't want to return to the home of the gods, she had been there once and she hated it, now she knew that it was empty, they had all vanished. Probably because people didn't need them anymore. She had been taken by slave traders once or twice, but she had been set free and now she had to figure out how to live on her own.

xx✎I'm all alone Nicolai walked down the near empty street. It was late evening, and the sun was just about gone. And, it looked like it was going to storm. As he walked, he had his phone to his ear, listening to Sarah go on and on about her trip to Japan. Was he annoyed? Not at all. He was happy she was having a good time. She certainly earned it. As he passed an alley, he spotted a woman sitting in the shadows and blinked. He didn't see very many women in alleys. Even the homeless ones. She didn't look homeless, though. She kind of looked like an actress from a play set in Greece or something. Hanging up on Sarah without a word - he'd lie and say his phone died - Nicolai turned it off and looked in the alley again. Well, he...couldn't just leave her there. Creating a flame to light the alley, Nicolai approached her carefully. "Are you alright, ma'am?"

Cassandra normally couldn't be seen by most mortals so to have someone walk into the alley and speak to her made her look up. The flame made her think of Hades and she moved back quickly bowing her head to the man before she spoke in ancient Greek. "Champion of Hades, I am fine, I didn't expect to see another from that time in this changed land." She glanced up at him wondering why she was to meet with someone like this after all of these years. It had been centuries since she had met with any immortal and here she thought this man before her was someone that followed the god of the underworld.

xx✎I'm all alone Nicolai blinked. Champion of Hades? What? Curiosity sparked, Nicolai tilted his head. "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean. I'm...not a champion of any sort." "Another from that time in this changed land." Nicolai hadn't been immortal long, but he could recognize phrases like that. Another immortal? Oh, no. Had he stumbled across another angel? The last one hadn't ended favorably. "Who and...what...are you?"

"You can speak Ancient Greek, yet you do not serve Hades... you can hold flame and are an Immortal.... Are you some strange god?" She asked after a moment confusion on her face before she heard his question. "Cassandra Ambrosia, muse granting inspiration to any talented human. Or that was my role until I refused to play by their rules." She said pointing to the skies still remaining in her bowed position. For all she knew he was a god and she had to be careful on what she said or did.

xx✎I'm all alone Now he was confused, and uncomfortable. "Ancient Greek? I'm...not speaking in some language I don't even know. And, of course I don't serve Hades. I don't serve anyone." Well, as far as he knew anyway. "I wouldn't make a very good god. I'd rather just disappear from existence." A muse? That was a Greek creature, wasn't it? "Nicolai Reinhardt, author and...not a god. Will you stand up? You don't have to bow to me." This was what he got for being so kind and wanting to help someone. Jeez.

"You might not be speaking it, but I have been, so you at least understand the language." She said standing up to look at the man. "Ah so you are like the men that wrote plays? That is comforting that your not a god, Nicolai." She said before she moved back farther into the alleyway. "You seem upset at being an immortal, your not the only one that dislikes the gift you were given."

xx✎I'm all alone Nicolai was surprised. She had been? Huh....Maybe that was another skill the angel gave to him and he hadn't known. Nicolai didn't come into contact with people who spoke foreign languages. Or....Had he? Now he wasn't sure. "I don't write plays, but....Yes. I guess so." Gift? What gift? He had been given a curse, not a gift. The angel meant well, bit regardless. Nicolai wished he had never tried to save it. "No, I'm not happy with it. Anyone who thinks immortality is a gift has never considered the consequences of it." Nicolai blinked and looked up as it started to rain. "...Do you need a place to stay for the night? It's going to storm, and looks like a bad one."

the gothic beauty 2 "I know what you mean... I was human once until Zeus changed me into a Muse." When Nicolai spoke of rain she looked up and saw he was right. "I have been staying in alleyways or old buildings, I haven't been seen by most mortals in over a century so I have no place to stay." She knew if she stayed with him however she would be drawn to inspire more works it was something she couldn't escape.

xx✎I'm all alone Zeus? So, she was older than Nicolai. A lot older. He listened to her as she spoke, but sighed softly. That wasn't what he was asking. "Come on then. You can wait out the storm at my place, and leave in the morning if you'd like." Nicolai extinguished the flame he was using as a light and turned, heading from the alley. It was up to her whether to come with or not, but the offer was there.

the gothic beauty 2 the gothic beauty 2 "Thank you, that is very kind of you. Perhaps I can repay you in some way?" She asked as she moved out of the alley and followed him. So he wouldn't seem crazy she revealed herself to the mortals around her a trick sh had learned after her second capture. It made things easier when you could hide your existence from most humans though she had been lonely recently.

xx✎I'm all alone Nicolai blinked. Repay him? Shaking his head, he looked ahead. "No, it's fine. Don't worry about it. I don't want anyone thinking they owe me anything." It began to rain harder, and Nicolai looked back. He noticed her clothes were getting wet and his face turned red. Crap! Taking off his suit coat quickly, he put it around her shoulders. It covered most of her, so she wouldn't be exposed, but he was stupid to forget what happened when white clothes got wet.

"Kindness should be encouraged though." She said seeing his face turn red she looked confused looking down at her clothing and saw the reason for his embarrassed look. Her clothing was soaked and everything could be seen. She blushed herself and tugged his coat shut to cover most of her exposed skin. "You really are a kind man." She said softly thinking that she really had been found by someone very kind that could use her ability. She knew that she had been taken in a shop before because she would grant inspiration to anyone around her just because she was in the area. Would it be the same for him?

xx✎I'm all alone Nicolai scratched his cheek a bit. If people were kinder, things would be better. "Don't mention it. I couldn't let you walk around like that. It'd just cause a disaster." Thankfully, the hotel wasn't too far and they were soon walking through the alley. People watched them, but Nicolai didn't pay any mind. They could watch and speculate all they wanted. "This way. The elevator will take us to my floor."
