Each of you are to make a post rolling a 100 sided die. The highest roller will get to attack first, but also have to choose their one pokemon for the match first. Wait until both trainers have chosen a pokemon before attacking.
For example:
P1 rolls, gets 100
P2 rolls, gets 1
P1 sends out Zubat
P2 sends out Rattata
P1 has Zubat use Confuse Ray
And so on like a regular battle.

It was that time of year again when the tournament for gym leader hiring was on its way. Like always Zak entered the tournament, though he did not expect to win. All he really wanted to do was bond a bit more with his pokemon, especially some of the newer ones he had recently caught. Zeke had evolved since the last tournament, and he had also acquired another charizard on top of him. Though, Zak still did not know who he would use in this battle, would he try to win or just end up doing this tournament for fun, currently he had no clue what he wanted. After all he was still an apprentice at Lyle's newer gym and he would feel bad if he left after agreeing to stay for a while.

Lenore entered the stadium, entering the gym leader tournament for the first time. She had been an assistant at Shina's gym for a long time now, and when she was offered the chance to take part in a tournament to become a gym leader herself, the girl had, well, not leapt at the chance, but at least expressed a bit of interest. Although she probably wouldn't admit it, Lenore held Shina in high regard and probably subconsciously wanted to be more like her. So, here she was.

This would be her first battle, but he wanted to see how well she could do in such a situation. "Aracelia, Your up" He called out and tossed out the female charizard's pokeball.  1000hp The newly caught charizard emerged from her pokeball and started to fly around the stage, getting used to her new surroundings.

Lenore looked at the charizard momentarily before fishing around in her pocket for a pokeball. Retrieving one, she sent out Zarya, and the mismagius looked around before ducking her head into her collar shyly.  1000 HP

As the ghost pokemon emerged Aracelia cocked her head at it quite curious about the other one. She was quite unsure what the two of them were doing here. A ghost type eh? Well they could cope with that. Raising Zeke to a Charizard he knew a few moves that Charizards had that were good against Ghost types. "Aracelia use Shadow Claw!" he called out. As her trainer called out a move her attention switched to him. Battle? So, that's what this was about. There was slight hesitation before she swooped towards the Mismagus and swiped at her with he claws, shadows clinging around them. Zarya was slashed by the ghastly claws, and she cringed and retreated backwards. Lenore looked on calmly and called out a command. "Zarya, use Lucky Chant!"
The mismagius regained herself and sang a haunting melody, hopefully unnerving the opponent just enough to throw off their aim.

Good it was a hit at least it would slow them down a bit. "Aracelia, lets try to burn them with Will-O-Whisp!" Zak called out. Aracelia's tail flicked behind her as she began to create small flames before sending them towards the ghost pokemon. Lenore called out to the mismagius. "Intercept the flames with a Power Gem attack, Zarya!" Summoning her resolve, Zarya closed her eyes and murmured silently under her breath. The gems on her dress glowed briefly, and similar gems materialized in the air before her before launching at the charizard and snuffing out the flames. As the status move failed and Araceila hit by the rocks Zak decided to go back upon the offensive. "Use Crunch!" A soft grumble came from the charizard as she was hit with the rocks. Zarya cried out in pain as the charizard ripped away at her spectral dress. Instinctively, she loosed flames that shone with mystic power at the charizard. The Mystical Fire surrounded Araceila, spinning in a slowly shrinking circle. Up in the trainer box, Lenore watched the display silently, content to let the mismagius handle things for now. Zarya was singed by the flames, and she gasped in pain as the burn took effect. Lenore called out to her, "Keep up the earlier thing, Zarya, with the fire! Do that thing again!" If it wasn't clear that Lenore had no idea what attack the mismagius had used before, it was abundantly so after that. One member of the audience looked to the person next to them as if to ask, "How is this girl trying out for a gym leadership?" Back in the battle, however, Zarya clenched her teeth and sent more fire at the charizard. Well this wasn't good. "Aracelia use Swords Dance and raise your attack back up" Zak called out. In the air Aracelia began to flap her wings even more doing a bit of a frenetic dance to raise her own fighting spirit. "One more time, Zarya! Do the thing!" Although Lenore didn't know what attack that was, she knew it was working. Trusting in her trainer, Zarya sent another burst of glowing flame at the charizard as she gritted her teeth against the worst of the burn.
