It had been one whole year since she arrived in these strange lands from her homeland far into the golden sands of the north. Though she still hadn't found a cure to the plague affecting her herd's major food supply she was one step closer and that's what counted. Aziza through her long journey so far had learned quite a lot. Not only about herself but about the world in general! She had gotten to see wonders and sights that those back home wouldn't even be able to dream of.
One of the wonders of Kawani was a season that Aziza had found she detested with all of her might. The freezing hell many others called 'Winter' was close at hand again. Last year it had left her starving, half frozen, and utterly lost on how to survive in the new wasteland of white. Through the skin of her teeth and with the aid of kind hearted Soquili she had lived through the ordeal. Now the bitter n** in the air that shook the dainty mare to her bones was a bad omen that soon winter would be upon them soon.
It's what brought her to the plains of the low lands. Not only to escape the creeping cold at least for a little while longer but it is where she had been taught that a array of herbs, roots, and plants grew that could be kept and used as medicine. Medicine that would be a life saver in the coming months when many would be forced to eat stranger, more risky foods that lead to upset stomachs. Or worse the dark monsters that prowled around every corner. Certain herbs found here could not only ease the pain of those attacked but be used to fight off infection and give victims a better chance on surviving.
Aziza vowed to learn from her past mistakes from last winter and would not be left as ill prepared again! Why it might be a strange sight to some to see a mare carefully cultivating only the best left over from the harvest season only to stuff them in the satchel slung around her back instead of eating them. She figured they shouldn't have the heart to complain of her harvesting when in just a few short months they might be needing these very same herbs.
