Port West

After Coast City's reconstruction, the U.S Navy maintained a presence there in order to use its coastline and serve as a means of protection in case anything like the Mongul attack was to happen again. Their main base of operations in Port West, a Military Base on the West end of Coast City's coastline. The base is very heavily guarded and only allows Naval Personnel onto it unless special permission is given.

Sitting atop the main building of the base, the black and yellow-clad figure sighed. She'd been sitting here for a while now, keeping herself cloaked as she scanned the faces of everyone who entered or left the base, searching for her target. No need to alert anyone to her presence, not yet. That would come when she saw George Wattson. She knew he was living somewhere here in Coast City, but her... informant, shall we say, wasn't able to tell her much else.

Honestly, a small part of her felt bad about torturing the man as brutally as she had, especially since she'd once fought side by side with him in the same unit, but he'd left her behind, same as the others, and she needed to know where their former Captain had gone. And since he wouldn't talk any other way.... Well, she'd at least been merciful enough to leave him alive and intact. Relatively speaking. He'd told her that George had resigned and moved to Coast, but he didn't know the address, leaving Evelyn to search for further leads on her own, starting here.

As a former Navy SEAL, George would have access to the commodities on base, such as the commissary, and he was bound to show up sometime. But so far, there was no sign of him. She was starting to get impatient, and at this rate, she was considering actually going into the building and forcing the receptionist to go into the database to find George's current address for her.

Now that she thought about it, she should have done that first thing this morning, when the base wasn't so busy. Oh well. She'd give it until half an hour to lockup, then go in. For their own sake, Evelyn hoped they would be cooperative....

Green Lantern

Where: Coast City, above the Streets
Company: Invisible source of Yellow Energy
Thoughts: I know you are here
Equipment:

The closer he got to the source of his ring's alert, the more he realized that the person who is using Yellow energy does have a bit of skill. It's not too hard to find a Lantern, as they literally are covered in their respective colored light. Hell George was right now like a neon green blur across the night sky. But his eyes were not able to see his opponent, the person he may need to protect the personnel at the base from. But his ring insisted that the energy was there, as it kept counting down how far away he was. He doubted it was defective.

They were cloaked.

Stopping about a hundred feet from where the source was, he could see the base was intact, so it wasn't under attack. And if it was intact and the person using Yellow energy was cloaked, then it was safe to say they were observing. Yellow Lanterns were not permanently enraged by the Red Light, nor consumed by the Orange Light of Greed. Therefore even though they are dangerous due to acidic vomit or raw power, Yellow Lanterns are able to retain their intelligence, making them dangerous by virtue of having not lost their minds.

"Okay, I know you are here," he finally said, "You can come out of your cloak and face me. Or is the Yellow Light symbolizing your true cowardice instead of the fear you claim to bring to others?"

The last part was unnecessary, but the Yellow Lantern was here for another reason besides causing mass terror. They haven't made any threatening moves...yet. But if they are going to made any moves, he'd rather be against him than against the personnel in that base. And he will interpose himself against their assault if they do attack the base.

Evelyn was starting to get really, really bored, just sitting here and waiting to see if her old unit commander would show up. Patience had never been her thing, and she was very much wishing she'd had the foresight to just go threaten the receptionist that morning. Would've been so much quicker and easier. However, her boredom wouldn't last much longer.

Green Energy detected and quickly approaching.

A Green Lantern, huh? She'd heard that one of them had been hanging around this city, but she didn't think she'd run into them so soon. Frowning down at the yellow ring, she asked which direction they were coming from, getting a little radar-looking thing in response, showing the incoming Green Lantern as a little blip speeding towards her location. Looking up in that direction, she could already see a tell-tale green light, steadily getting bigger.

Out of curiosity, she stayed where she was and kept herself cloaked, just to see what they'd do when they couldn't get a visual on their enemy. Besides, it would give her the chance to get a good look at them before things devolved into fighting. And when they arrived, a good look she gave. Human male, red hair, tall, and very well built. The man didn't skimp on protein in his diet, that was for sure. Still, she couldn't just sit back and admire his physique. He was the enemy, after all.

Scowling at his taunt, she decided to give him a bit of a spook, keeping herself cloaked as she got to her feet and flew up to him, stopping barely three feet away before revealing herself with a casual "Boo". Backing away again, she then replied, "Your education on Oa must've really been lacking if you think that's how the Sinestro Corps works." Reaching back to tighten her ponytail, she added with a chuckle, "Not that that surprises me. Willpower does tend to lend itself more to brawn than brains."

Leaning back and crossing her legs as if she were sitting, Evelyn watched her enemy carefully, wondering if he would be thrown off at all by how nonchalant she was acting. That was her goal, after all, to unnerve him and make him doubt, so she would have more weaknesses to exploit during the inevitable fight. But if it didn't work, oh well. The fight should still be interesting, and she'd still have a report to send back to Sinestro.

"The only thing you have to fear... is me."

Liand'r

Currently Unaffiliated

Despite the damage to the systems of the control panel, the out of control ship was able to display images and data. Flashing on the screens were numbers and images indicating his relative proximity to his destination. Or at least the destination of the out of control ship. On the static, flickering display was the image of a blue and green planet, the numbers indicating it was fast approaching. Another monitor indicated that the life support of the small vessel was dwindling, which meant that he could either die on the ship or die on the planet. His only hope was that the planet would be able to support him. Breathable air and all of that.

Liand'r was rocked forward as the ship hit the atmosphere of the planet. He struggled to keep his balance, focusing his attention to the screen as it closed in on a specific location. Close to land, a red reticule zoomed in on a point in the larger blue area of the globe. Right off the coast of a large green colored land mass. The outside of the ship began to glow red as the friction of entry began to tear away the outside metal. The structural damage to the ship from Liand'r's initial acquisition of the vessel had done such a number on it he was honestly a bit surprised that it had lasted as long as it did. But it seemed unlikely that would make it to the surface of the planet. Howling screeches pierced the air of the interior as sheets of the exterior were ripped from the sides.

Finally breaking through the atmosphere, the ship continued it's high speed hurtle into Earth. The blue of the water rapidly expanded into view as the red hot wreck of the vessel descended. The impact of the ship on the ocean caused an eruption of water and immediately tore away the outside of the ship. Sea water rushed through the halls and rooms of the commandeered pirate ship, filling it and causing the ship to begin tearing in half. The rush of water slammed Liand'r into the control panel of the ship, momentarily pinning him to the screen as water rapidly filled the room. In a rush, the tamaranean's eyes began to glow brightly as his starbolts blasted through the to of the ship. Having a way out, Liand'r fired starbolts from his feet, propelling himself upwards through the hole he created. Keeping his eyes open, despite the pain of sea water, Liand'r could see light through the water.

He reached the surface, gasping for air. It was pleasantly surprising that the air didn't immediately kill him. That was one plus to landing on this planet, at least he wasn't going to instantly die. Off in the distance he could see land, but couldn't quite make out the structures. All it appeared to be was a place that where he could get out of the water, which was welcome considering how long he'd been drifting in space. Once he gathered himself, he began to make his way towards the outline of what appeared to be a city in the distance. Unfortunately, he was far more exhausted than he thought from planetary entry. His initial rapid pace slowed to a proverbial crawl as he began to realize that the coast was much further than he initially thought. The only good fortune he could find in this instance was that parts of the ship had been ripped off and surfaced. He made his way to a floating piece of the wreckage and used it to support himself. He rested his upper body on the metal wreck and used his free arm to paddle. He would hopefully be able to reach land soon. What he would find there however, was unknown.

Well the figure who was emitting the yellow energy got closer to him and uncloaked herself about three feet away with a small "Boo" before backing up and acting pretty nonchalant, crossing her legs as if she was sitting and actually being pretty casual. It doesn't phase him in the slightest, the most she got was a raised eyebrow. There has to be something more to this, but he doesn't really pay much attention to it. He cannot hesitate in a situation like this. She could potentially start nuking the base at any point. Wouldn't be too far from the Sinestro Corps M.O.

"Meh, two out of ten. Wouldn't invite you to help out in a haunted house," he answers with a small smile before he raises his ring towards her, "But jokes aside, I'm afraid I have to cut your sightseeing short. See you are a potential danger to a lot of people, so I am only giving you this one chance: you can come quietly to Oa and face trial for whatever crimes you have already done. Or we can start fighting, I kick your a** and then I put you in a Sciencell and you still have to go on trial. Your choice."

His ring glowed a bright green and his tone was steady and commanding, like he took this seriously and was ready to throw down at any time. Guy probably would of already started attacking, but George was willing to give her at least one chance to come quietly. He only briefly looked at the flaming wreck of a starship landing in the ocean and thought about going off and rescuing anyone trapped in the wreckage. But he wasn't about to endanger the people underneath him. He'll have to investigate later.

Well, her plan to unnerve him didn't work like she'd hoped, only getting a raised brow and a joking quip in return. In fact, he even smiled. It was a nice smile, admittedly; something about it seemed vaguely familiar, though she couldn't put her finger on why. Shaking the thought away, she frowned as he pointed his ring at her and started talking. Go quietly to Oa, huh? Not likely. She opened her mouth to give some snarky retort, but the next bit froze her in her tracks.

Upon mention of being put in a cell, she shuddered, fear briefly flickering across her face as she remembered what it was like in captivity, the helplessness of being at your enemy's mercy, the pain of whatever torture they put you through.... No, she wouldn't go back to that. Never again. Returning to a normal stance, she floated back a few steps as she got a hold of her fear again, her expression going ice cold as she held out her hands and carefully formed a construct of a loaded minigun and aimed it at him. "No thanks. I have no intention of being a POW again."

With that, she began firing, hoping to end this fight quickly so she could get back to her personal goals. She didn't even notice the flaming ship hitting the water a ways behind her, being too focused on the threat in front of her.

"The only thing you have to fear... is me."

Thoughts: Okay, first-time thinking I am noticing: ex military, like me. Can't underestimate her
Equipment:

George didn't expect this woman to go quietly, but he can at least report that he gave her a chance to come quietly. He wasn't naive to think that everyone will turn themselves in. Sometimes you have to fight, to let them know just who they are dealing with. And she decided to attack first, saying she was not going to be a POW again. That let him know she was ex military, and if that didn't, the fact she manifested a mini gun certainly did

Guess we are doing it this way then

He was already focusing as she created the gun and just as she fired, he formed a large round disc in the shape of a shield and used it to deflect aside her yellow bullets. His will was strong, so the shield held, her mastery of fear was around the same level, so he can feel the impact of the bullets hitting the hard light. He then decided to counterattack, actually throwing the shield like a green Frisbee at her and forming a pistol out of green light, one unknown to hI'm she might recognize as the typical sidearm of a Navy SEAL as he gripped it in both hands and fired back at her, figuring she might be distracted (or got hit by) the shield to properly defend herself.

A shield, huh? Interesting choice. Also a rather obvious one, if she really thought about it, but she didn't have much time for that, what with him throwing it at her. Now that was an interesting way to use a construct. Quickly zipping out of the way (thank you, powers of flight), she turned back to glare at her opponent, reloading her minigun construct with explosive rounds and preparing to fire... Until she saw that he had a pistol and was shooting at her.

One of the green bullets did manage to graze her upper arm before she got her own shield up, making her hiss in pain as she adjusted the shield to leave a hole to shoot her own weapon through. Like him, she could feel the bullets bouncing off her shield, but it held, allowing her to get a good look at his pistol construct. Her eyes widening, she excitedly yelled over the noise, "Hey! Is that a Sig Sauer P226 Navy/Mk25? Great gun, I used to have one myself before I...." She trailed off. She shouldn't be getting so excited over this, she was in the middle of a fight, and he was the enemy. Besides, he might not even be a fellow SEAL. It wasn't hard to find images of that model of pistol on the internet; for all she knew, he was just some random military buff. Still, it was odd that he would pick that particular gun over anything else one might immediately think of.

Focusing back on the fight, Evelyn started firing again, using those explosive rounds. But towards the end, she quickly morphed her minigun into an RPG launcher and fired one off at him. Let's see his shields hold up against something like that.

"The only thing you have to fear... is me."

George kind of expected her to fly up the moment she saw the shield being thrown at her. She then put her own shield up, and he was forced to protect himself with a spherical force field so her rounds don't hit anyone at the base. He noted how she knew what kind of pistol he thought of, thinking she might he a former Navy SEAL as well, but he can't dwell on it. He needed to get her away from the base, one way or another, but he dropped his shield just as he saw her take aim at him with a RPG and fire.

His response was to put away the pistol and actually cast a net over the grenade and fling it up into the sky so it explodes harmlessly, then once that was done, he punched the air with his ring, shooting a concussive blast of green energy, meant to push her away from the base as far as possible while he follows behind, ready to attack or defend in case she retaliated. His priority was protecting those at the Naval Base from any danger right now, and that meant she had to move away from it.

Evelyn frowned as he seemed to easily defend against her attacks. She'd have to step up her game. Ditching the guns, she was about to switch to something else when he fired off a concussive blast, forcing her back quite a bit, away from the base. Of course, he didn't want her hurting civilians.

Pouting a bit, she said, "If you wanted to take this away from the base, you just had to ask. I was only there looking for an old friend." Which was true. She wasn't too worried about it now, since the personnel at the base had no doubt seen them fighting and were going on lockdown. George wouldn't show up in the middle of that.

Deciding to be a bit showy, she quickly formed an electric guitar, quipping, "Anyway, here's Wonderwall," before ripping out a very loud solo, materializing the sound waves to attack her opponent. Maybe the sound would disorient him enough that he'd actually get hit.

"The only thing you have to fear... is me."

Thoughts: Ex-military and guitar player? Interesting combination
Equipment:

He was successful in getting her away from the Base, and he saw they were on lockdown, so thankfully whoever she was after will be safe as long as he keeps her occupied. Her snarky comment forces a small smile as he replies, "Well I'm used to people I am fighting to be more stubborn and less easygoing. You are certainly an odd Sinestro Corps member."

Especially when she turns around and forms a guitar and begins....playing music? Sure enough he gets bombarded by the sound waves from her construct, which she has made visible so he knows where he needs to go to get out of the way. Forming headphones out of green light to cancel the noise, he flew around, dodging the sound waves and soaring low to the ground, dispelling the headphones and forming two bola like constructs in his hands, throwing them while flying, aimed to tie her up. A third one was thrown when he skidded on the ground to stop himself, but this one had a small surprise: if it hits her or any construct she throws up, it will explode, potentially shattering the defenses she may put up (though he had to make sure it was strong enough as he is beginning to understand she has a good mastery of Fear).

But his true attack comes when he forms a long chain of green energy, tipped with what looks to be a heavy green ball and after a few twirls over his head, he swings it, hopefully hitting Evelyn on her right side, and due to the ball moving at high speeds, it would hopefully hit hard. He had done a similar chain of attacks back on Oa, training with the big Drill Sergeant Killowog. And he caught them with the attack the first time, which got a compliment from the big Lantern:

If there is one thing I learned from humans, it's that you all are rather creative. Though you aren't as imaginative as Kyle, poozer, you certainly are tactically creative.

That was a fun sparring session. But now, he was getting more than a bit tired of her being nonchalant. He was tired of her clowning around. He wanted to know just what she is capable of so he can fight her better. Because something wasn't adding up.

The city in the distance slowly grew larger as Liand'r closed the distance. Slowly but surely the gap closed as he paddled the piece of wreckage towards the shore. A few things rattled in his brain on the trip, the biggest question being would the inhabitants of this planet be friendly. Or at least able to talk to him. Of course making it to land was the important problem he had at the moment.

The closer he got to the shore, the more he started to see large ships in the water. A harbor. They didn't seem to be any regular ships. They were all fairly large. Even though he wasn't sure of what types of ships they were, their distinct size and shape led him to believe that they weren't ordinary passenger vessels.

β€œWar ships...?” Liand'r thought out loud as his paddling slowly decreased and he started to drift towards shore. Hopeful as he was, he wasn't dumb enough to think that his entry didn't cause some sort of stir. He did crash land on this planet. Someone had to have seen it. As bad as it may have seemed, he hoped that it didn't alert too much negative attention. He was tired, stranded and hungry on a strange planet with no idea whether or not the inhabitants were hostile. Just the ideal situation all around.

Lost in thought, a flash of light caught his attention. As he got close to the harbor, close enough to get off his wreckage, he stood from his flotation device and looked into the air. Flashes of green and yellow light soared in the air. Liand'r squinted up at them, trying to get a better look at the lights. Two figures, people, were in those lights. β€œA... A Green Lantern?” Liand'r mumbled to himself. He had never seen one before, only heard of them. And there was a yellow one too. He'd never heard anything about them. It didn't look like they got along. From what he was told, Green Lanterns were good. Like intergalactic police. If there was one on this planet it was either a good thing, or a very bad thing. The fact that it they were fighting the yellow one was a clear indicator that the yellow one was bad. At least to him. But it should serve as a pretty good distraction for the people to not notice him. He would need to fight a place to stay. He was stranded after all.

β€œHere goes nothing...” Liand'r sighed to himself, raising his hands. Green energy welled in his palms as he took a deep breath. He narrowed his vision on the tallest building he could find in the distance. It looked like it might be past the harbor and further into the city. At least he hoped. He may not have been able to fly, but his other abilities gave him a way to bypass that. Sort of. He threw his hands down and blasted his starbolts into the ground, launching himself high into the air towards the building. The force of the blast tore the part of the harbor he was standing on apart from the rest, sending it into the water. He winced at the damage. That was an accident. Hopefully no one would be too upset about that. Resetting his vision on the horizon, he could already tell it would take more than one jump to get there.

Evelyn gave a Cheshire grin at his comment and just added an extra little bit of flair to her weaponized guitar solo... until she saw that he'd put on headphones. Rude, much? Oh well, at least he hadn't put her in a soundproof box or something. Turning to keep facing him as he moved around her, she continued to fire off her waves of sound energy, though she stopped when she saw the bolas coming her way, ditching the guitar in favor of a vertical rod of yellow energy floating in front of her for the bolas to harmlessly wrap around instead. Sometimes the simplest solutions were best. She wasn't expecting the last one to explode, though, the force of the blast taking out her construct and knocking her out of the air.

She had enough of her wits about her to use her flight to slow her fall and land mostly on her feet, but damn if it didn't still hurt like hell. Cursing in pain as she glared at her opponent, she was about to retaliate when she heard another loud sound over by the docks, looking over to see someone accidentally blasting off part of the docks as they jumped off towards the city. The hell was that about? Being a bit distracted by that, she didn't see the wrecking ball coming for her until it was too late, the green construct slamming into her side, hard. Bowled over and stunned by the attack, she groaned in pain, clutching her side and trying to catch her breath. <********>, that hurt! Luckily, thanks to her ring, she wouldn't have more than some nasty bruising later, but still.

After a moment or two on the ground, she pushed herself up to a kneeling position, again glaring at her opponent. "Seems you're actually gonna make me get serious.... I do hope that your combat training was enough that you don't die right away." Raising an arm to the side, she focused through the pain to create around a dozen small, rippling yellow circles scattered through the air above and behind her, like portals. Making a small motion with her hand, weapons began to poke out of the portal-like constructs, and with a wave of her hand towards him, the barrage began. Dozens upon dozens of swords, spears, and other weapon constructs rained down on him like arrows, disappearing after the initial hit to allow her to focus on the next batch of projectiles.

However, this was honestly a distraction from her real attack. While her opponent defended himself against the rain of weapons, she formed a small missile behind him and sent it in for the attack. It was a bit of a strain on her due to the pain, but if it hit, it should bust through his defenses and do some real damage, allowing her time to focus her ring's energy on dealing with her injuries.

"The only thing you have to fear... is me."

Out of Cognac: Inspiration for the weapon portal construct comes from the Gate of Babylon noble phantasm, from the Fate series.

Well is seems her focus is less absolute than his is, as though he merely glanced at the explosions he heard, she turned to look at it, distracted enough that his construct struck home. This was after the explosion, and though he was expecting her to get up, she took less damage than he thought. He needed to dial up the explosions power a bit next time. As for the small figure he saw leaping towards the city, he grit his teeth and dispelled the wrecking ball, thinking to himself, 'Damnit, I'll have to intestigate that incident when I'm done with her' only half listening to her speech about getting serious.

Returning his mind to the battle when he looked back and saw many small ripples in the air. She was indeed very skilled to create so many wormholes: wormholes that were apparently filled with weapons. At least that's what it looked like to him. Reacting quickly, he assembled a strong defense to counter the problem: piece by piece the quickly assembled construct began to take shape: a pillbox, or a partially underground concrete guard post with loopholes to fire weapons through. He surrounded himself with this fortification and braced for the assault.

It was a good think he assembled this, he wasn't gonna be able to dodge all these weapons bombarding him. The fortification was holding strong at first, but enough impact have caused the walls to begin cracking. He desperately willed his fortification to keep together. walls forming around the initial defenses to reinforce the pillbox, but those began cracking too. And the real attack was yet to come. George heard the familiar scream of a missile's thrusters, coming behind him. He knew this was going to suck.

The green pillbox was engulfed in a yellow explosion, and the remaining weapons she rained down on him added to the dust and debris being kicked up. George was buried under green pieces of his construct and weapons and sand, several weapons biting into the sides of his torso and his body in general aching from all of his pillbox falling down on him. Like with her, his aura and suit kept his body together, but damn did that hurt.

Well, now I know how Evelyn felt, buried under rubble, he thought to himself as he willed the pieces of his pillbox to dissipate and he finally managed to struggle back to his feet, muttering to himself, "Ring, administer painkillers and begin cellular regeneration to curtail bruising," he told his ring, "And also, what is the status of charge levels?"

Ring Power Level at 78 percent, charging is recommended

"Well that is some comfort," he tells himself as he looks over at Evelyn, gritting his teeth, "I'll have to admit, that was pretty crafty of you. Turning my attention to a big attack and positioning a missile behind me. Reminds me of a former teammate of mine."
