The sometimes home and main office of Atreyu Ceallaigh. It is currently located inbetween the Coast City University Campus and the New Boulevard Shopping District. As he says a prime position to pick up, work, women, and booze without having to move around to much.

The agency is a single room office without AC, a sofa a run down desk where the drawers are filled with either booze, Silks cigarettes, or case folders he is currently working on.

The window looks out at the streets below and the ceiling has a busted rundown fan. There is a broken closet door that cant be opened as there is mysteriously no door knob.

As Rey walked up the stair and turned the corner he came to his small office in at the end of the hall. There was a package on the floor outside he let out a sight as he eyed it suspisciously before taking a swig of his acquired whiskey. Before digging around in his pockets and finding the key frowning he just shrugged and kicked the door. Flinging it open began kicking the box as it jingled and clanked as whatever was inside seemed to let out a weird moan. He just shook his head and kicked it so it slid over into the corner with 2 other boxes marked from Istanbul, and Cairo.

He then looked on the floor and saw a bunch of letters with read immediately and final warning on them. He just shook his head as he scooped them up and proceeded to his desk plopping down in his chair he placed the bottle as he opened a drawer filled with a dozen other letters before shoving the knew ones in there and closing it. He then let out another deep sigh as he leaned back and reached into his pocket pulling out what looked to be a ritual knife from China and threw it it at a dart bored where is missed the board completely and hit the surrounding wall. Where it sat with an ancient iron bloody nail that radiated the holy power of god, a needle of of what could be from New Orleans with spiritual juju radiating off it and other assertment of pointy ancient things only the nail was in the bullseye spot.

He then looked at his door took another breath and blew out as it slammed shut and he closed his eyes. "I have a feeling it's going to be one of those days." He then reached for the bottle drank the rest of it and fell asleep.

Standing in front of the agency’s door, Kelli gave Cheon a look of concern. The office had an odd smell attached to it that the Atlantean wasn’t sure if Cheon could sense. It was a mixture of cigarette smoke and herbs from islands he hadn’t explored in years. ”I guess this is it,” he shrugged before giving three knocks at the door. When no one answered, the Atlantean took to the handle and trudged in. What waited for them on the other side of it wasn’t at all what he had expected. It wasn’t a team of professionals for the occult or an old wise man waiting for them. It was what looked like a regular Joe asleep at the job.

”How… curious,” Kelli muttered, circling the room while eyeing the man who clearly reeked of fresh alcohol. The Atlantean pocketed his hands and leaned his face close to the detective. Giving a rhythmic whistle that paralleled an alarm, Kelli expected the man to wake up but it had no avail. Turning to Cheon, Kelli gave a nod of confirmation. ”Out cold,” the blonde began as he cycled back to his companion. ”Be gentle,” he told Cheon, insinuating her wake him up.

Leaning up against the wall, the King of Atlantis folded his arms across his chest and waited for the magic to happen. Either this guy will be answer to their problems or just another bump in the road.

xxxIt seemed to Cheon that she wasn’t the only one to notice the smell. Judging from the odd look on Kelli’s face when the pair had walked into the little shack of a detective agency, it took all of her will to not burst out in laughter. It was a lot… messier than she’d expected from someone that Madame Oana would recommend, but he was in the book for a reason. ”Yeah… it has to be here.” Cheon muttered quietly as they stepped inside to find a man who reeked of booze asleep at his desk. Odd… another thing that Oana must’ve forgotten to mention in the book. Peering around the small space, Cheon examined the odd trinkets that were scattered all over the office. Each piece was radiating with some sort of magical force that Cheon could feel… even see at times. ”Hm…”

When Kelli’s attempts had failed to wake the so called detective, Cheon stepped up to the plate. Giving Kelli a little wink, Cheon tip-toed around the mess as she approached the man’s desk. With so many options and so many possibilities spiralling in her mind, Cheon couldn’t help but to think back to the good old days – Kelli and Cheon, the disastrous duo. The pair of kids that were known throughout the neighborhood to cause profound amounts of trouble in ways that were neither logical nor seemed physically possible. With a mischievous smirk on the girl’s face, Cheon rested her finger tips on the surface of the detective’s desk. ”Excuse me…” With her voice low and all but a whisper, Cheon seized the opportunity…

Dnuos eht mrala!” By command, the sudden blaring scream of an alarm filled the small office space, loud enough that even Cheon had plugged her ears in preparation for the auricular assault. If that didn't jolt the detective awake, then Cheon wasn't exactly sure what would.

Atreyu Ceallaigh

Rey was blissfully unawaresappy drunk and asleep and getting well earned rest that the first instinctual alarms in his minds were ignored by sleep depravation nd alcohol. As the paired intruders looked around the room he remained unmoved and the rooms quiet unimpressed mess remained undisturbed. This remained the case up until Cheon cast her spell.

At the moment to things happened. The first was Rey comically waken up and falling out of his chair. The other was a whip crack of magical backlash sent from a protective barrier ingrained int he walls that sent a blast of invisible magic at Cheon that would slap her across the face and cause her to stumble back as if sending a warning. Several other magical traps also began to kick into effect as the room began to warp and change the magical items being absorbed into the wall as one would sink into quicksand.

At the same time Rey would extend a hand and say something in old Atlantean and shoot his hand over the desk and a massive circle ward would appear around the king however nothing would happen. Though if he tried to turn the pin that was his trident into it's true form. He would realize that it would be unable to do so. As the magic locked it in it's present harmless state.

After a few more moments Rey's head would pop behind the desk and eye the pair suspiciously his eyes squinting before he muttered a word and the alarm stopped. He then groaned holding his head and rising the rest of the way finally realizing exactly who the people were standing before him. "Ugh....Jesus girl and you coulda just shook me. No need going and riling the whole place up."

Kelli was grinning ear to ear from seeing Cheon’s spell kick up a backlash that shook up the entire room. It was a nostalgic sight that reminded him of their time as the "Terrible Tandem". He laughed lightly at the result but quickly gunned from his position on the wall to catch the stumbling girl. "Easy..." he told Cheon in hopes of calming any desire for immediate retribution. Whether they liked it or not, they needed Atreyu's assistance. ”Looks like he is legitimate,” the Atlantean snickered and let go of the girl. Making acknowledgement of the magical circle around himself, Kelli gave a frown. Being linked to his Trident and developing an affinity for it through bloodline, Kelli could tell something was up. It was vibrating, albeit lowly, in his pocket.

”I thought I heard old Atlantean,” the blonde smirked, making his way back over to the desk. He wouldn’t have to test the artifact to know it was being locked. He could feel its unresponsiveness. Still, Kelli could tell the mythical weapon was fighting back against the incantations and it’d be a matter of time until it broke itself free. ”We’re not looking for a fight,” Kelli claimed outright, ”we’re here in search of help and time is short.”

Extending a hand to the man, Kelli pulled him onto his feet. The Atlantean scrunched his nose at the strong smell of alcohol spewing from his breath but made no comment on it. At the moment they needed an ally who could help, not another person on the list to cross off. With each passing second, Kelli was sure the thief was moving further away. They simply didn't have time to find another person for help.

xxxWith the sudden backlash that came from Cheon’s little rude awakening, the girl found herself stumbling backwards after a light blow to the face by some invisible force, falling into Kelli’s arms – this seemed to be a common theme, here – and in the process break her focus on the spell to quell the ringing. There was no mistaking it… the force that had hit her was magic, and the strike was all too familiar for the girl who had spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours getting continually smacked around by Oana’s magic in years prior. With her hands balled into tight fists, it was hard not to let it become a back and forth between her and Atreyu, but Kelli was right – he was legitimate, and that only meant that he would be an invaluable resource to them. Relaxing her grip, Cheon dusted herself off a little, clearing her throat as she spoke. ”Yeah… sorry about that, you just looked so at peace. Thought a regular alarm would suffice.” She commented as she approached the now upright detective, standing to Kelli’s side.

”My name is Chae-yeong… Cheon for short. I came to you because my ma—my teacher advised that I could contact people if I ever ran into trouble of the mystical variety.” She began, looking at Atreyu with a solemn gaze.

Tucking a strand of gold-to-black lock of hair that had fallen out of place back behind her ear, Cheon continued. ”This morning some… thing attacked me, stole my purse, and got away.” ’You probably would’ve heard about it on the news by now.’ ”It was a Homo magi… His magic was powerful. Great enough to elude even the both of us.” She added, motioning to Kelli with a tilt of her head. That part bothered Cheon the most – two against one, the odds were in their favour, and yet he still managed to get away. That was not going to happen a second time. ”So… I thought maybe you could help? The man had black robes, his hood covered his face so I couldn’t see much… but there should be security footage and, well, I don’t know, Youtube videos floating around.”

Rey took the hand of the Atlantean nodding his head in thanks before dusting himself off listening to his him mentioning not wanting a fight. He groaned out a grumbled. "Well that's good."

He then waved a hand dispelling the barrier around the trident. "And yes you did. One of the birth languages of magic. Even Merlin used it and some hypothesize the lady of the Lake was an Atlantean sorceress. Picked it up in Portugal a few years back." Rey then turned away from the pair as Cheon stepped up explaining the situation he grabbed a bottle of painkillers from his desk. Popping it open he took 4 and tossed them in his month as he listened to her go on about her situation as she finished. "Uh huh ya already saw it on the news. Grand showing you had there. Was curious if you were going to bury the whole damn Campus. Must have been a really important. I am assuming the millions of dollars of damage were worth it though." It was obvious the complacent slack jawed drunk persona was gone and as he spoke the booze ridden breath began to go away as the room around them began to change and bend growing bigger as the the windows clothed and the mess became organized around them the artifacts sat in cases now and filing cabinets and bulletin boards began to appear each with pictures of people they wouldn't recognize including new faces and sticky notes beside them with Batman? Green Lantern? Wonder Woman/Boy? And as they looked further they would see snap shots of both of them with Aquaman and Mistress of Magic.

Plopping down in his chair once more Atreyu simply spoke. "Thanks Kain." before pointing to the chairs before them. "Please have a seat both of you. If we going to get your purse back my dear Cheon. We must figure out what it was in the purse that some halfwit would want to steal. So please tell me everything you have in your purse no matter how unimportant you think it is. I want to know." He then stopped for a moment realizing his manners. "Also thank you for coming to Hellblazer Detective Agency. Names Atreyu can I have Kain bring either of you a drink or something to snack on."

"Not bad at all," the blonde responded. When his pin stopped vibrating in his pocket, the Atlantean couldn't help but to pat a hand over it to ensure that it was still in place.

Kelli watched curiously as the room bent and twisted around them until it reformed entirely. The beat down office that they were in had transformed into an organized space that held a plethora of artifacts. He raised an eyebrow at the cabinet that had his photo on it with a sticky note labelling him as Aquaman. While Atreyu wasn’t the first to keep tabs on the King, Kelli wasn’t put off by it. His persona as Aquaman was as public and well known as some A-listers. ”Nothing some donations won’t do away with,” Kelli replied with lack of qualms for the matter. The King’s resources was vast and the thought of money had little effect on restraining him anymore. Coupled with the fact Cheon herself was more than well off, Kelli wasn’t going to concern himself over trivial matters.

Following Atreyu’s directions, Kelli seated himself on a chair in front of his office desk. ”Kelli King and no, thank you.” he replied in accordance to the introductions. The King reclined back into his chair and threw his palms behind his head to give comfort. Again, the Atlantean struggled to find comfort but he wouldn’t make as much of an effort to fix it. ”Wallet, phone, thesis, and some sort of unknown key… was it?” Kelli turned his attention to Cheon and looked for confirmation.

xxxWith the little back and forth between Kelli and Atreyu, most of what was going on went right over Cheon’s head. Though she knew that magic had a long and rich history, Cheon actually knew very little about anything, having failed to fully read through Oana’s vast collection of magical literature. With Atreyu’s comment on the fight, Cheon gritted her teeth – who did he think he was, criticizing her for something that he wasn’t even a part of. Of course he wouldn’t have understood the severity of something like that. Biting her tongue, Cheon continued glaring at him until, in the corner of her eye, she caught the changing of her environment.

Though Cheon had spent so much time exploring the world of magic, there was never a day when its capabilities ceased to astound her. From where she stood, Cheon watched with muffled awe as the room shifted and changed. Strange as it was, the place seemed to have a sense of charm to it. Comfort, even. Taking a seat beside Kelli, Cheon’s eyes continued to wander around the room as she half-listened to the men converse. Catching only a small glimpse of the photos on the bulletin board, Cheon’s attention was drawn back into the conversation when Kelli began to list the contents of her purse. ”That was pretty much it…” She said, nodding in agreement. ”I mean apart from the typical stuff like my makeup and the USB drive that had my thesis on it, the only other thing worth noting would have been the key.” She added, her voice trailing off near the end of the sentence.

Cheon raised a hand to stroke at her chin in contemplation. ”I mean… my thesis wasn’t really complete yet, I’ve only been working on it for a few months. The key, well, it was sent to me via mail a few years back. I still haven’t found what it unlocks yet.”

As she dug deep into her memories to recall the day she’d received the letter in the mail and her teacher’s words when she told the woman of its contents, it seemed to finally click. Eyes widened, Cheon perked herself up a little and snapped her fingers. ”Oh right! If anything, I think it must have belonged to Zatanna Zatara… that’s what my teacher told me.”

Rey shook his head at the non-chalantness the both had about the incident. "You will need more than a few donations. Cheon will be wanted. You may be protect Kelli but she is not and she is as far as the authorities is a reckless and uncontrolled menace with to much power for her own good." He said simply before continuing to shake his head.

As the two then began to list the items Rey snapped his fingers and from the door they entered came a small demon in a suit and glasses with an excellently trimmed bear. Eyeing the guests he seem to spit at there vary presence before Rey said something in a demonic language before adding. "Go and use the voice of the that Amanda Waller woman. They seem to really respond to that and make sure they don't just bury the evidence in the police station but collect any copies left on the new media files. To we want this to go away. The last we want is the Cult of Cold Flame finding our dear Cheon." He said simply before ushering the demon away and returning his attention back to Cheon before letting out a slow controlled breath.

"I want to say this and I promise while I can understand it as most people are, but Cheon you are an idiot. An adorable, smart, capable, beautiful idiot. One I can guarantee that key is what they were after. I pretty sure your friend here can assume that is what they were after. A key belonging to the Mistress of Magic. The most powerful sorceress of her time and daughter to the most powerful sorcerer of his time and you carried it around in your purse like a spare key you had long forgotten what it did."
Rey continued to shake his head before letting out a few more controlled breaths frustration and just...disappointment radiated from his face.

After a few moments he seemed to look down at his desk and give an apologetic bow "Apologies sometimes I forget my manners when trying to help others. We need to get that key back. If who I think it was has it then the magical balance and really bad s**t could go down. Which leads to my question you said you fought him. Were either of you attacked by his magics?"

The King of Atlantis tilted his head back and stared upwards at the ceiling as Atreyu’s lecture came rolling out. ”No, she won’t be wanted – not as a criminal anyways. She is not the first meta-human to appear on the planet nor will she be the last. As far as reckless and uncontrolled menace goes, there have been many more appearances from others whom actually have criminal intent,” he sighed before bringing his attention back down to the detective across from him. ”We could smooth it over with the president at tomorrow’s lunch if you prefer?” Kelli retorted, waving his hand disinterestedly at the matter. ”She has my vouch and my words sway. Don’t forget that,” the King stared coldly at the occult detective before turning his gaze over to his companion and remembering their position in this.

”Regardless, we’re here for your help on the occult. Not political or social matters.” Kelli added, leaning his cheek against the upward palm of his hand. Authorities were a small-scale issue at worst and the Atlantean wasn't keen on wasting more time on something he could solve with a phone call. His connections ran deep enough to probe for second chances without any hardship. The real problem was still out in the world and they were more than ready to die for their cause.

Kelli’s eyes trailed the small demon that appeared before them and hurried away before anyone knew it. It was a truly both a wonder and mystery what the building held within it. All of demonic servants, artifacts, and odd furniture squeezed into one ‘office’. ”Cult of Cold Flame,” the words echoed in the Kings head as he made a mental note to look into it. What a peculiar name and a mouthful at that.

In a hurricane of words, Atreyu did both of belittling and praising Cheon before following up with a full apology. Taken aback, Kelli didn’t bother to respond to the matter. Based on the man’s reaction to the key, there was clearly an issue of peril at hand that is beyond petty argument. ”Don’t worry,” Kelli replied sternly, ”And yes, his attack contacted me directly in my side.” The Atlantean stood himself up and pulled up the side of his dress shirt to reveal the tender flesh. It was healed for the most part from Cheon’s magic, but he could still feel the lingering effects within his oblique.

xxxGripping the handles of her seat, Cheon scowled at the man who dared criticize her for losing an object so obscure that no one in their right state of mind would have even known about, and for not having control over her magic when all she wanted to do was stop the man and get her purse back. ”Well excuse me for not being told explicitly the importance of something so obscure. What kind of most powerful sorceress would send a key to a random stranger with no return address or any indication of what it was apart from some silly note in backwards writing?” She rebutted, almost rising from her chair as she spoke. But again being forced to bite her tongue, Cheon pushed back into her seat, leaning all the way back as she continued to pout.

Cheon could understand why he’d be mad – Zatanna was a pretty well known figure in the magic community, and while Cheon never knew the woman in person her name and legacy never failed to reach her through her master’s stories. Nodding at his apology, Cheon seemed to loosen up a little as she leaned forward in her chair again. ”I patched him up with my magic before we came here…” She told Atreyu, turning her attention to the wound that appeared to be mostly healed now. ”He also attacked me at the very beginning, knocked me against the wall when he went to steal my purse.

“I could have taken him, for the record… but you think this wasn’t just one man? You think that some cult was behind this…? What would a Cult want with me?”
She asked with a frown. Magic was weird enough, but cults? Cheon had never heard of anything like the Cult of Cold Flame, but having taken courses on cults in her academic career, it didn’t sound like some holly jolly gathering of weirdos that met up every night to scream at the moon or drink spiked fruit punch to off themselves as a group. ”If it’s money they’re after, sure… but…”

Rey listened to the retorts of both an immediately began to categorize them each. A bored king far to reliant on his station and no longer in touch with the ways of people on the surface and an inexperience magician with very little interest in the circles she is being force into. However he did not wish to argue or get into philosophical debates. It wasn't there fault especially the poor girls. Rey chose this life before he even inherited his legacy, many do not have that luxury of choice. Hence why he even had the agency in the first place.

As they explained how each were attacked Rey dug through his desk and pulled out a a small beak analyzing the wound he rose and turned his attention to Cheon. "With magic or just physicality. If it with magic I can pull the magical residue off your person as well and we can use it to track your attacker. I can pull from Kelli here as well but it won't be as strong because of your magic masking your assailants."

As he spoke Rey went into action walking around to the atlantean he began to say something in latin before pressing opening of the beaker against the soft fresh flesh chanting a mixture of a dark and black aura began to swirl and pull from the injury filling the beaker in a cloudy mist that barely filled a quarter of the tiny beaker.

"As for the why I think the Cult is involved. They are the only ones well informed enough to know you had the key. Like you said the person who sent it was a powerful sorceress. That key was ment for you and nobody else. I had an idea you possessed and it was only because my own inheritance was so linked with yours I had special means to track the powers use."

He then laughed a bit under his breath. "And yes with your raw magical power you could have beaten him in time and through consider damage to yourself, your friend and the campus. The Cult of Cold Flame is no push over. They are a cabal of some of the most viscous and evil sorcerers and demons this world has ever seen and they pride themselves on nobody knowing who they are. I only no about them because I was invited to join them which I had said yes too. Before realizing what they were and stealing some things and getting the hell out. Hence why my office and home reside here in the House of Mystery."

Pursing his lips into a straight line, Kelli could feel the frustration fuming from Cheon. She was right in her own regard but it was clear to the three of them the disastrous nature of it all. The blonde listened attentively to the back and forth but had little interest in continuing it with the detective. There was work to be done and the Atlantean couldn’t bare anymore debate. ”I think we’ve all had enough of the blame game,” Kelli announced calmly, giving his adoptive sister a nod of validation for her irritation.

The pull of magic from his flesh gave an unfamiliar tingling sensation that made Kelli slightly wince. He had always been uncomfortable with magic when it was used on him. It might have been something innate to the Super-Atlantean bloodline or even his own phobia, but the feel of it always made him cautious nonetheless. ”This Cult of the Cold Flame, why would they want the key though?” Kelli began while bringing his shirt back down to level. ”If Zatanna like the others had disappeared, what purpose does it serve for them now?”

Kelli tilted his head to the side as he watched the concoction come to form in Atreyu’s hands. It was but a small amount, and even smaller given the size of the beaker. He made a grimacing face before turning to Cheon who was seated beside him. ”Looks like you’re up,” he scoffed playfully. The King took a step back to allow space for Cheon and Atreyu to work at the tracking potion. He circled the room in a slow pace, examining the various cases of artifacts so well protected from the world.

”Admittedly, I’d probably ask for my own Trident to be stored here one day,” he spoke softly. While he agreed to some extent that it belonged to the Atlanteans, Kelli often felt the weapon too powerful for one single user. It held the potential to sink cities and islands alike, often bringing him concern about the future of Atlantean-Human relations. At least if it was kept here and out of other people’s hands, Atlantis would be less inclined to pull the trigger down the line.
