tab [::] General Description [::]

tab Nestled with her back into the highest of mountain expanses, the nesting grounds of her iconic dragons, and borne with the might of one of the country's strongest armies, the City-State of Ternesjvorel itself is walled 'round all directions. With its iconic Grey Wall serving as the foremost entry to the Verdant Valley, and the Iron Wall sanctifying the city itself and its boroughs within.

The metropolis is split into the High City and the Lower Boroughs. The High City is the home of many nobles and the Ivory Cathedral, the resting home of the Platinum King and the Senate. As well the cathedral houses the Keepers of the Platinum Flame, a religious Order dedicated to the Awakening of the Elder Dragon.

The visible areas of the Lower Boroughs are neither destitute nor downtrodden, but instead composed of people whose families bear no Noble Crests. Though many are poor, in comparison, the Lawstone of Ternesjvorel prevents anyone from being denied medical care nor food. To this end a system has been put in place by the Senate of Vyth.

Where the Lawstone's gaze does not fall, however, is another tale.

tab [::] Governance [::]
tab The King of Ternesjvorel is known to be Immortal, bound in duty, silent upon his throne until the Elder Dragon God recants the final Tale. In their duty, only those of his own bloodline may supplant their Lord. The Veiled Daughters of the Platinum King, First Daughters of the King's Line, have taken a vow, each following in the divinity of their forefather, and sheathed themselves only in the Veil of Obh and the Crown Inherent, so they may lead in the stead of their Forebear. To aid them, the Senate comprised of the Court Nobles, lend the voice of the people. Elected from among the Nobles is the Premier, the authoritative voice of the people alone given permission to set eyes upon 'The Veiled' to carry the word of the Platinum King to the People.

tab [::] Colours and Crest [::]
tab A Nation in White, Silver, and Sable threads:
Their crest is that of the Silver [ Platinum ] Wyrm, a sign of the great foe, turned ally, which their people long warred with in the age of strife.

Their National Flag; quarterly crusilly sable and argent and argent on a chief embattled brunatre a rose azure seeded argent barbed gules.

tab
tab

tab [::] Architecture [::]

tab Ternesjvorel and much of it's extant territory is built largely in Gothic Relief, with the stonework comprised of either dark basalt reinforced with white polished steel, or white limestone reinforced with blackened steel and iron.

Signs of draconic influence are apparent throughout the city, from high buildings having perches set upon them for the beasts, to low clearings having the smallest buildings surrounding them specifically for them to achieve flight. Just as prevalent are the buttresses and simple stonework and simple slit windows with large shutters to protect against draconic attack; a bygone artifact from the extent conflict between man and draconic beast in eras prior.

Reliefs of men riding dragons appear in old worn churches and the barracks, but only seem to exist in fables and one extant example of a hermit who tends to the flock atop the mountain with his sons and two apprentices from the city.

The further townships and hamlets maintain much of the stone architecture upon their lowest floor, but in the Ages since the Platinum Accord have begun to incorporate more readily available materials into their construction, with timber and plaster latticework being added to expand old homes upward.

Φ | Properties and Purview of The Senate of Vyth:

--

Properties:

tab The Ivory Citadel
General Description:
The monolithic Ivory Citadel towers over the rest of Ternesjvorel, dwarfed only by the mountains of The Spine. A beacon of hope, of law, guidance, and peace. Upon the pinnacle of the tower sits the Lawstone, a fabled artifact which contains and enforces the laws of the land, alerting The Guardians of fractures, and acting in accordance. Beneath the Lawstone rests the Platinum King, and further still the Senate of Vyth, whose chambers bear perches for draconic envoys to voice their matters in law ( in accordance with the old ways ).

Upon the somber threshold of the lowest layers of the tower lie the offices of The Keepers of the Platinum Flame, The Guardians of Law, and The Ordinator of Office. In short terms, these are the offices of A State Religion, the State Guard, and the People's connection to the Senate and term Judges.

Layout:
Ground Floor:
At the entry level of the Ivory Tower is a grand foyer where most business is conducted, the belief of the agencies being "To be seen openly speaking of private matters, and in private speak of public matters." The foyer itself is rather nondescript, save for the malachite flooring and obsidian coated pillars that span to the ceilings.

Each agency maintains a desk presence in the lobby, with the Ordinators being the north, Guardians west, and Keepers to the East. The southern offices and desk remain empty, though they bear the mark of the office of the King.

--------------------------------

tab The High City : Central Hub:

General Description:
The High City is the Noble's Court of Ternesjvorel, home to everything from the Ivory Tower, The Grand Market, to the Imperial District which houses the Nobles of the Realm. Unlike the Lower Burroughs everything in the High City is kept pristine and blindingly white. Garish Silver and Platinum accents shine in the sunlight, an ever-present reminder of the Church and the long bygone conflict against the Silver Dragon horde.

Guards belonging to the Church of the Platinum Flame routinely patrol the High City's corridors, though the agreements with various House Nobles have ceded some districts patrols to their payroll.

Architecture:
Brutalist, solid-faced, with minimal window spaces in all except the higher-end districts. In the most expansive and high-cost districts, the larger windows are faced with impressive stone shutters. The architecture boasts the ingenuity and brutality of the first inhabitants. Humans and Dwarves who banded together against a host of dragons who resided in the Spine of the East as they occupied the region to fight the horde at their own nest.

ø | The Properties and Purview of House Kaer:

tab The Distinctive Dwarven Family of Great Count Olwyn aun Kaer; Grandson of the Silver Axe and inheritor of Kaerhold beneath Ternesjvorel. The House Kaer has stood with Ternesjvorel since the days of the Long Hunt and the Burning of Alt Terenos. Largely in thanks to the teachings of the Dwarves of Kaerdu'ul and the combined siegeworks of both man and duruil, was the founding of Ternesjvorel possible.

To each of the Heirs of Count Olwyn aun Kaer the title of Count is so addressed and a monthly stipend of 6,500 Mark is afforded: so paid from the family's duties as the Steward of the Barrows and Farms districts of Ternesjvorel.

Properties:

tab Barrow Farms:

General Description:
Barrow Farms, located in The Barrows, is under the influence of the Kaer Noble Family, The various farms standing through the district belong to the resident farmers of The Barrows, and are built literally upon the rooftops of the many estates within the district. The largest problem a Laborer may have is staking their claim separate from another within the region.

tab

Architecture:
Unlike the other brutalist structures that surround The Barrows district, the Barrows themselves are a rather green space, with their architecture more inspired by nature, though still hewn from the stones and wooden supports. Covered in rolling farmland, the houses of The Barrows get very little to nearly no sun, but are cool in the summer, and easily warmed in the winter.

tab

--------------------------------

tab The Barrows District:

General Description:
The Barrows are as their name implies buried and forgotten by the rest of Ternesjvorel; where the surface of the city-state is rich and well kept, the Barrows are dirty and forgotten. Unlike the standing stone architecture of the rest of the city, the Barrows comprise stone and wood architecture buried beneath earthworks. The homes of the farmer, the destitute, and the indentured all reside here, as, in times of war, these were the first homes likely to fall to the draconic threat. Each peaceful year the Barrows grow smaller, or rather, are buried beneath new architecture as the city expands into the surrounding regions for farming and the destitute are simply left to their cairns beneath the city.

In effect, one could say that Ternesjvorel has developed an Undercity as development has spread over The Barrows. And travel from any one region of the city to another can be facilitated discretely through the Barrows as quickly as The Main Road.

Housing:
With the assent of a Ternesjvorel Noble, one may purchase a home in The Barrows District; though dues for this process are paid to House Kaer Directly. The cost of a home in The Barrows District is 5,000 Mark.

tab Purchase of a Home in The Barrows District grants you leave to post one thread within the Home and Hearth subforum designated as [ ø | [Family Name] Barrow ] While threads in the Home and Hearth subforum should be relatively private, they are still under the protection of House Kaer if there is an intruder or a character who is too rambunctious.

Ю | The Properties and Purview of House Ravn:

House Ravn, longstanding vassals of Abraham Hjorth, the Platinum King and the Senate of Vyth. Ravn, Hjorth, and Schleswig marched from the southern lands in the days of old, forsaking old conflicts to hunt drakes who chose man as prey. As the shield of Hjorth, House Ravn was given reign over the lands that allowed ingress to the lands their descendants would settle.

Through their place as the shield and the gateway to trade into the Capitol, members of house Ravn's nobility are afforded a monthly stipend of 6,500 Mark from the proceeds and taxes.

Properties:

tab Greywall:

General Description:
In the shadows of the Capitol of Ternsjvorel, upon the foot of the mountain and nestled in the river valley sit the wrought iron gates of Greywall. The city itself is sprawling, consuming the width of the valley. Divided into multiple districts, designed to fill the entirety of the valley and prevent easy passage to the Capitol itself.

The city itself is dark, marked by the tall basalt pillars that flank it. The pall of the stone and the scent of smoke weigh heavy on all but the richest of districts. Stale water and stains of soot from smokestacks and wood-burning stoves mark the stone faces and alleyways are made all the more oppressive for it. Oil Lanterns hang at every street intersection, with some businesses placing their own mage-light or glowpowder lanterns under their own marquees.

Periodically a square erupts at major cross-streets or where gateways between districts would meet, each marked with large bright thoroughfares and fountains. Market stalls and bright banners are common in the squares, and along the main roads, but less common as one travels into the city's populous sectors.

-------------------------

tab The Lake of the Veiled:

General Description:
The Lake of the Veiled is a shallow lake that rests between Grey Wall and Ternesjvorel proper. While roadways around the lake and a long bridge cross the expanse of the lake, it still acts as a formidable opponent to any siegeworks against the city, and has thwarted two attempted rebellions against the King and Senate, as well as the sole time The Dead have marched on the Capitol.

The waters are pure, crystaline clear, and filtered through a sandstone aquifer. It has been deemed a crime to litter or pollute into the lake, except in specific wash areas, through which filtration systems have been implemented.
