Prompt 2 (Snow Spike): Ice and snow? Fine. Hail? Slightly less fine. Large, icicle-like shards of ice falling from the sky? Horrifying. For no apparent reason, Destiny City is plagued with another strange phenomenon, only this one can strike at any time. The icicles plummet from the sky with no warning, regardless of a clear or cloudy sky. The spikes range in size from a few inches up to two feet. Sometimes only one might fall, or sometimes a torrent of them, but they never fall far longer than a minute at a time. Some have reported a strange green lightning in the sky just before the icicles fall, so there seems to be at least some warning. Injuries and damage have been reported across the city, so it’s best to stay vigilant and hope for the best.
Bellalunae had been thinking for days about how she could have been better during that mission. She felt as if she hadn't been brave or strong enough during it. Sure she didn't die or get seriously injured but what did that matter if she could say she felt proud of herself. She hadn't fought nearly as hard as everyone else on the mission. As she thought back to the events of that day she knew she needed to change. She needed to get stronger and make sure the next time she was called to action, that she actually held her own.
So here she was today at a wooded area behind her family's hotel preparing for battle training. The tree's gave great cover so no one would see her, a fluffy black cat, training in the area. The cover this wooded area provided was perfect, the shrubs even covered her body just right with there height, and no one would ever come back here. Since other than her, only Sabrina knew about this secret area, and no one really ventured this far. She quickly launched herself at the wooden trees with her claws at full draw. She wanted to see just how strong she was as she quickly slashed at the bark. It tore the bark clean off right before her eyes. The beautiful torn bark landed on the ground in perfect shreds. She half smiled to herself as she continued to repeatedly attack the bark. She tried to make sure each attack she gave it her all, as if her life depended on clean strikes each time.
As she was about to attack the tree, for what she figured was probably the twentieth time. Suddenly she found herself really fighting for her life, as a frozen dagger came down right before her strike. Luckily she was able to dodge it just in time as she used her back legs to launch her in the opposite direction from the tree. "What on earth was that," she said aloud as she barely managed to land on all fours again. Trying to catch her balance she was a little wobbly on her feet from that crazy attack. She analyzed the ice dagger that had caught her off guard, it was only a few inches this time, but who knew what was coming next. She looked at the sky above and watched as she saw the sky light up an emerald green color. The sky looked as if an emerald dragon was flying through the sky and letting his power show with lightening strikes. Maybe that was why the ice daggers were coming down from the sky.
Either way she wasn't really sure what was causing the lightening, but she had her claws out and ready. Then she heard a lightening strike come from the green sky, she then counted under her breathe. One thing she had learned during storms was to count the lightening strike and then listen for thunder. Quickly she figured out the distance of the strike, it was close by, and so she watched for the next dagger to descend from the sky. It didn't take long before she noticed a lot of larger daggers coming down around her.
With her paws outstretched she used her back paws and jumped into the sky. She attacked each ice dagger just like she had the tree. Her claws shredded them like they were cheese in a shredder, it was almost as if the icicles didn't exist. She had turned them into a fragment of what they once were, the icicles became snow pieces. She huffed and she puffed as her paws landed back on the grassy ground. Not that she would admit it, but her paws were starting to become a little sore. Though she knew she still had a few more moments to practice and these ice daggers were the perfect targets.
So with a breath she stood on her legs a bit shaky and again got her claws ready to attack. She looked at the sky and waited for it to strike. A few minutes went by and the sky almost looked like the emerald dragon was leaving, but then she heard it. The final strike. "One, two, three," she counted under her breath as she got ready to launch herself at the sky again. but this time she lost her footing and stumbled. Quickly she was able to recover and re-launched herself towards the sky. Though that one minute of lost timing was enough for one of the larger daggers to damage her arm just slightly with a small cut. Refusing to let that injury slow her down, she continued with claws outstretched, and she attacked each of the remaining ice daggers with a fire. They would not beat her today, as she clawed down the last one, and landed like a falling rocket on the ground. She didn't have enough time to brace herself and instead just landed with a harsh thud. The last thing she remembered was someone calling her name and rushing to pick her up from the ground.
When she awoke she was back in Sabrina's room. She was on Sabrina's cozy bed surrounded by blankets that were protecting her body. As she continued to look around she realized her body had been taken care of. Her front arm that was damaged in the battle had been wrapped up and treated. Not only that but it looked like she had been cleaned from head to toe as her body was shining. She tried to stretch out her front arms and meowed out in pain. That was when her human came running to her aid, but to her surprise she had been by her side this whole time. Sabrina picked her small black fluffy body up in her arms and cuddled her to her face. "I'm sorry I couldn't get there in time but I will take care of you now," Sabrina said as she hugged her tightly trying not to hurt her as she placed her back in the mound of blankets. That was the last thing Bellalunae remembered before she closed her eyes to rest. This training day in her mind had become a success even if she was injured in the end.
