2025 Star Festival Prompt The Fairies (8 ) : The City has been lit up for the Star Festival with banners and twinkling decorations strewn off the windowsills of shop fronts and windows. The gardeners at one particular park have put their heart and soul into creating a fairy's paradise: Fairy lights have been carefully dangled from trees to make strings of stars, little beaded jewels have been hidden among the hedges, and even the old cobwebs have been sprayed with just a touch of glitter. The park is open to everyone and the citizens of Destiny City have been invited to respectfully explore the hidden wonders that have been placed throughout. The park is magical enough on its own but there have also been reports of a strange, ethereal and shimmering stranger in the park. The glimmer of a beautiful costumed figure fluttering through the park has been passed around as rumor, and no matter what anyone claims to see, no one can take a picture of it. As if simply seeing some magical figure isn't mysterious enough, there are also reports of mischief and small pranks being played at the same time this figure seems to appear. The decorations everywhere had Sinope captivated. It was even difficult sometimes to tell where the night sky ended and the city began due to all the twinkling lights that either represented stars or were the real deal. The distance and dark made it even harder to differentiate the two, creating a magical scene. But for those who knew where to look and what to look for, real magic was only too easy to find.
For Sinope, who had just the other Midsummer’s Night almost mistaken a chibi senshi for a fairy in the park, it wouldn’t have been too far-fetched to believe a real fairy was the source of the rumors that had been flying around that night. After all, if aliens, youma, and senshi could exist, why not fairies?
So the Dark Mirror Senshi decided to take a stroll to admire the gardeners’ work at the park for the Star Festival and see if he couldn’t just catch a glimpse of the elusive, ethereal stranger with his own eyes. Heck, if that stranger managed to pull a prank or two over on him, he would have been thrilled regardless of what they actually were. He always enjoyed a harmless prank well-played.LP ((Please let me know if you’d like me to change anything!))

Halley had heard about the fairy garden and wondered down to see it for herself. She was taking pictures of everything. Making sure to capture the sparkles and work on her bokeh style of photographing while also taking normal snap shots to try and catch a glimpse of the prankster that was rumored to be there.
As she wondered she felt an energy signature and she was excited to see who was here. While folks claimed it was a fairy, Halley couldn't help but wonder if it could also have been a ghost. She knew some ghosts were pretty prone to playing tricks and causing mischief As she headed for the energy signature she noticed something sparkling on the ground.
The senshi paused and picked it up looking at a small star charm with an amber center. Halley pocketed the star shaped charm and then smiled as she ran into the Dark Mirror senshi shortly after. "Hello~!" She called as she waited for the other to take notice of her. She didn't want to scare them.

As soon as Sinope sensed an energy signature, he checked it and found it to be one of Order, but then he stopped to question that. If there were really a fairy and it had an energy signature, would it really be one with order energy? Maybe a seelie court fairy, perhaps...but Sinope had always thought even they would have at least a bit more chaos in their signature. Was it another senshi like last time instead?
He paused as he noticed something glimmering hanging from a tree and looked up to get a better glimpse only to find it was an Amber Star Charm caught on a branch. At first he thought it might have been part of the decorations, but then he realized there were no others around and its being caught there looked accidental, so he decided to free it from the branch and take it home with him. Once he did that, however, he found he had been so busy looking up he almost didn't realize the energy signature on the ground before him before he'd nearly tripped over the person it belonged to.
Fortunately by then she had stood up and smiled at him before greeting him with a hello. He smiled a bit shyly before responding with a little wave. "Hi," he answered. "Uh...is this yours?" the Dark Mirror Super Senshi asked, holding out the star charm he'd found.
Interesting they were the same rank as far as senshis went. Even their outfits were similar. She was in purple, orange, black, and white with pointed cat ears. They were very similar to his purple, copper, black, and teal colors with his pointed fox ears, so he tried to figure out what her sphere might have been. She had halloween colors with a halloween-esque theme if her cat ears, skulls, and 'XIII' roman numerals were anything to go off of. At least that was the conclusion he came to. And what better sphere to have if you wanted to play pranks on people? People on Halloween did ask 'trick or treat' after all. But if he offered her her star charm back - presuming it was hers - would that count as a treat?

Halley tilted her head softly looking at the dark mirror senshi when he asked if it was hers, "Ah. It's not mine." She answered softly before pulling out one as well, "I just found a similar one on the ground."
She chuckled lightly before looking around at their surroundings, "I'm Sailor Halley," She introduced herself looking him over interested in his outfit considering the black bodied fuku, and transparent overlay it was quite interesting. She offered out her hand, "I'm the senshi of superstition."
She considered the fact she'd come out to investigate if the figure that people kept catching glimpses of was a fairy or a ghost, it was quite fitting wasn't it? The entities could be parts of superstitions. "What brings you out tonight?" She added as she shifted her camera more comfortably to sit on her side.

At the other senshi's explanation about the star charm she had just found - same color as the one he'd found and all, only down on the ground instead of up above - he chuckled softly. They really did have a lot in common, it seemed; circumstantially, too.
"Sailor Sinope," he answered her introduction, beaming as he shook her offered hand. "Ahh, so that's what it is! I was starting to think you were the senshi of Halloween or bad luck or something. Very cool. I'm the senshi of slyness."
Glancing around as she had, he caught a question of hers and laughed. "I'd kept hearing these rumors of some ethereal being people kept catching glimpses of playing pranks in this park. I thought it might have been a fairy, what with the Summer Solstice being so recently and all." Sinope regarded her camera interestedly. "You wouldn't happen to be here for that very same thing, would you?"

Kitomyx sorry for the double quote forgot her font color She grinned when he introduced himself, "Nice to meet you Sinope!"
There was a chuckle, "I do look like I could fit for Halloween or Bad luck. There's surprisingly a lot of superstitions around bad luck so that might be part of why."
Senshi of slyness sounded interesting as well, "Oh that's an interesting sphere, so . . . you're not a corrupt senshi though right?" She was curious as she took in his outfit.
She nodded as he explained he was here for the fairy, "Yeah I had heard about the prankster as well and wondered if it was an actual fae or if it was a ghost maybe since there's some types of ghosts that like to play pranks."
She grinned, "I often live stream or record and then post hunting supernatural beings, mostly ghosts but sometimes fae and other cryptids catch my attention too. I don't have a ton of followers but the handful I have seem to enjoy it."
There was another thought, "Want to partner up and see if we could find it if both of us are looking?"

"Feeling's mutual, Halley!"
Sinope nodded in amused agreement at Halley's comment on how there were so many superstitions based on bad luck and that that was probably why he had gotten that impression. When asked about if he was a corrupt senshi, though, the redhead laughed.
"No, not corrupt. I'm a Dark Mirror senshi. Ever heard of the Dark Mirror Court?" he asked. "We don't tend to have hair down to our ankles nor gaping holes in our chests and foreheads. And we aren't with the Negaverse." Though he continued to smile, he almost spat the word 'Negaverse' as though it had left a bad taste in his mouth simply by him having uttered it.
"Not as batshit crazy as them, either. Well...not usually, anyway. Most of us tend to be pretty civil from what I recall." He scratched the back of his neck with a slightly embarrassed look. "I only recently began powering up again after taking a few years off, so I don't know how much has changed since then."
At the mention of the possibility that the prankster could have been a ghost, Sinope's brows shot up. "A ghost?" he repeated. "Wait, there are different types?" He supposed that made sense, but... "Aren't ghosts generally supposed to be invisible? Why would people have seen it if it was a ghost?" Was that part of the pranks it played, perhaps?
He blinked a couple of times at the information regarding the fact that the young woman before him live streamed or recorded hunting supernatural beings. "Whoa, whoa, whoa - you've actually managed to capture these beings on camera?" he asked, more than a little incredulity seeping into his tone. That explained the camera at her side, though, he supposed, if she made a habit of trying to take pictures of them. He had trouble believing she actually had any success, but then again, this was Destiny City. He had forgotten how many weird things went on around the place.
"I guess we could partner up," he said, running a hand through his hair as he peered into the dark thicket of decorated trees and other foliage around them. "You don't think they'll be more scared off with two of us looking, though?"LP ((No worries! I'm pretty sure it notified me only once anyway, hehe))

Halley seemed to think had she met any dark mirror senshi before? She thought she might have met at least one other one. "AH I believe so, I might've met one of your group before but it's been a while."
She looked a little sheepish, "Yeah I think the ones from the negaverse are more than a little cracked in the head at this point. It's their ill fortune to have fallen for that sort of chaos."
She grinned, "I do prefer the less batshit crazy brand of chaos."
There was a pause and shrug, "Nothing wrong with taking time off. Life happens and sometimes that keeps us from other parts of our life. I think honestly, things have chilled out a bit the past few years. It doesn't seem as chaotic."
There was a grin, "Well typically yes, but with the correct energy they can manifest, sometimes you see them more on cameras than you do in person. Or if you see them in person it's typically out of the corner of your eye or in a field of vision that isn't clear so you just know something's there but not what that something is."
She chuckled lightly, "Some of them like to be more visible and heard than others but to be honest, I haven't really caught enough evidence on camera to prove they are real. There's also dust orbs people like to mistake for ghosts as well. I think my followers enjoy watching the process even if nothing concrete shows up."
"I can show you some of what I caught on camera later, I have a few stills with me that show before and after and you can form your own opinions about if it's real or not."
She grinned when he said he guessed they could partner up. "Ohhh I doubt it, if it's a trickster it'll have fun trying to make us think one of us did something we didn't. Or it'll run amok if it's a fae. It'll enjoy the challenge. Also anything paranormal sometimes will speak to different people. Like it might not care for me but it'll like you."
There was a shrug, "At least in my experience that seems to be what it is. Paranormal beings are weird like that."

"Well then, glad to meet your criteria," Sinope answered with a grin of his own when Halley said she did prefer the less batshit crazy brand of chaos. "And thanks," he continued when she mentioned there was nothing wrong with taking time off. "That...means more than I can express. Happy to hear things have chilled out, too."
When the other senshi began talking about ghosts, Sinope listened with interest. It wasn't just that he found the subject fascinating, but he almost always enjoyed hearing people talk about what their passions. This seemed to be one of Halley's; enough that it sounded like it carried over into her civilian life. Or perhaps it was more accurate to say she loved it so much as a civilian that it carried over into her senshi life. And it was nice to know that even powered up, people were still people with hobbies, dreams, and desires the same as any other person.
"Well if you might be able to see it out of the corner of your eye enough to know something's there but not what it is, sounds like it could really be anything," he commented, chuckling as well. "But that also definitely sounds like what the rumors going around have been like, so I guess I can see why you think it might be a ghost."
He nodded when she explained about her followers enjoying her process; he could certainly understand that. "Yeah, sure; I'd love to see some of what you caught on camera," he told her honestly. He was curious about what she meant by dust orbs and how people could mistake them for ghosts as well as how Halley herself told the difference.
Laughing at her idea of what a trickster might have had fun with making them think, he nodded again, this time in agreement, and got a sudden idea.
"I think you're right," Sinope said when she made her statement about her experience regarding paranormal beings. "But speaking of challenges and different people...how about we have a little spar? I'm curious if either of our magic might interest or attract whatever we're looking for and it could be fun to see what each other can do in the meantime. Especially since we seem similar in a lot of ways. An interest in the supernatural, for one, and similar power levels for another."

There was a laugh from Halley when Sinope said he was glad he met her criteria. "It's def nice that things have chilled out."
Halley nodded with a grin, "Yeah it does sound like what's going on it, so it'll be interesting to see if it's a fairy or a ghost."
When Sniope said he'd like to see some of what she caught on camera, "Of course! I'll be happy to show you. Once we're done here maybe we can snag some crepes, there's a little food truck I saw down the road. And I can show you some of the videos."
There was a moment while she thought and looked around the area, "Yeah lets do that! But lets move it looks like that area is more open." Halley gave a nod, "Also do you want to go first or want me to go first?"
She wanted to make sure they were in a good area that they had some room, so in case something happened there was enough space.

"Ooh...crepes sounds nice. Been forever since I've had one of those." Even if they didn't end up finding the prankster-ghost-fairy-being after all, it sounded like it could still have been a pleasant evening. It already had been so far.
Nodding in agreement when Halley suggested they move to a more open area, he answered her question. "I can start since I proposed we do this in the first place. Considering my magic, it might make more sense that way anyway. If you like, I can use my regular senshi magic, you can show me what you like of yours, and then I can use my super senshi magic. And then if you want, you can use your super senshi magic, too. Sound okay?"

Halley grinned "Ah good, because this place smells heavenly. I'm glad a lot of the little shops during events aren't letting youma and things stop them from being open because it makes the whole event."
Halley moved out towards a more open area of the park, where there was clearly a place for milling of a larger group looking and admiring the fairy lights and other decorations. "I think this works better, than being over in the cramped area. This also gives us a chance to see anything."
There was a smile when he said he'd start and a nod, "That works for me, I honestly haven't used my super magic so it'll be interesting to see how it affects someone."
Halley readied herself and made a motion for Sniope to hit her with his best shot when he was ready.
