Summer storms!!! scream And it's not even summer yet. The electric company says lightning hit somewhere around here and all the lights are out. It's been an hour already. My laptop is on it's last legs. The bf is out at a meeting for this school thing he is going to do some teaching at. Argh!!! So I have candles lit everywhere and it's very pretty, but it's starting to get hot in here. sweatdrop
What do you do when the lights go out?

We don't get our electricity knocked out very often. After Hurricane Isabel, we had electric equipment that holds up much better installed.

Maybe I will just go to sleep until the lights come back on. My computer has 18 minutes left on it.
*signing off until later*

Hasn't happened too often up here...but it happened frequently back in the Philippines and back then we just sat it out. We'd have candles, too, and we'd play with the wax and make puppets and yeah.

Usually go to sleep or go out to eat. Simple things. Most of the time it goes out in the wee hours, so alarms don't go off.

Yeah, I thought about going out somewhere, but I am too lazy for that.
Oh, the lights came back on which is why I am online. Whew.

You mean your electricity actually goes out? Like, regularly?

Can't remember the last time our electricity went out, it hasn't been especially hot this year either.

Quote: You mean your electricity actually goes out? Like, regularly? If you meant me, yeah it goes out somewhat often, but most of the time only for a second or less, so it's good that my computer is not 100% dependant on it.. I wouldn't enjoy a random restart because the power goes out suddenly, for a second

Ah, good old reliable British electrical systems, just another product of great British engineering.

A friend of mine who lives in NJ was talking to me last night and said he was home and the power went out at his house for a few hours... He couldn't find anything but one of those grill lighters so he had to run around with that thing :p
I usually hardly ever lose power, but I usually just find some source of light and read a book.

Jeez, is this a frequent occurence in America? As far as I can remember the only times our power has ever gone out is when a fuse has blown.

My power only goes out when there is a hurricane and the poles carrying the electric wire get destroyed. Don't imagine England gets too much of that!

Luckily when my power went out it was still daylight. So I had time to look for a lighter, gather the candles and flashlights (that torch to you Skully =p) and it's a good thing I did too! I sat and worked on a crossword puzzle by candlelight. @Skully - These storms are very fierce. Maybe your storms are not as severe in good old England.
