Pride
"The Devil, the proud spirit, cannot endure to be mocked." - St. Thomas More, 16th Century
- Seeing ourselves as we are and not comparing ourselves to others is humility. Pride and vanity are competitive. If someone else's pride really bothers you, you have a lot of pride.
Envy
Envy is perverted because it "loves" what other people possess. Envy are for those with their eyes sewn shut, but weeping over their sins eating away at their own hearts.
- "Love is patient, love is kind…" Love actively seeks the good of others for their sake. Envy resents the good others receive or even might receive. Envy is almost indistinguishable from pride at times.
Anger/Wrath
Every angry person feels righteous. When we are angry we concentrate on the object of it and forget everything else.
- Kindness means taking the tender approach, with patience and compassion. Anger is often our first reaction to the problems of others. Impatience with the faults of others is related to this.
Sloth/Acedia
Most people think of sloth as laziness, not doing much of anything, but just sitting around doing nothing. Many people stay busy most of the time but don't do the things they should, putting them off for later. They may be staying busy so they have an excuse.
Sloth (or acedia) is a kind of spiritual laziness (as opposed to mere physical fatigue or depression). It means not making it a priority to do what we should
- Zeal is the energetic response of the heart to do what is needed to be done. The other sins work together to deaden the spiritual senses so we first become slow to getting things done and then drift completely into the sleep of complacency.
Greed
There are at least three forms of greed:
1) an obsessive desire for ever more material goods and the attendant power.
2) A fearful need to store up surplus goods for a vaguely defined time of want.
3) A desire for more earthly goods for their own sake.
- This is about more than money. Generosity means letting others get the credit or praise. It is giving without having expectations of the other person. Greed wants to get its "fair share" or a bit more.
Gluttony
There are at least three forms of Gluttony:
1) wanting more pleasure from something than it was made for.
2) Wanting it exactly our way (delicacy).
3) Demanding too much from people (excessive desire for other people's time or presence).
- Temperance accepts the natural limits of pleasures and preserves this natural balance. This does not pertain only to food, but to entertainment and other legitimate goods, and even the company of others.
Lust
To be fair, there is one good thing about the sin of Lust: it cannot persist into eternity. In actuality, sins of the flesh tend to burn themselves out over time. After a while lust becomes a habit and what pleasure it brought diminishes until we wonder what the attraction is.
- Lust is the self-destructive drive for pleasure out of proportion to its worth. Sex, power, or image can be used well, but they tend to go out of control.
Story
In this world we are not prefect. I don't care who you are or say you are everyone has a sin. On this land that was soon built with sin is where the true beauty of woodland shined. Before humans, elves, dwarfs, etc. The land was once without sin once without lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, anger, envy, or pride. It almost sounds sad. What could live in a place such as this hell? What could be truly living having no flaws what's-so-ever? In truth nothing…only that without a mind could live in such a place created by gods. This land had a name giving to it by its creator, Icelus.
Icelus gave birth to the first living creatures from the depths of its shallow waters. Strange things they were, they could not speck, taste, feel, or see but they could hear. Their hearing was their power used to listen to the earth that spoke to them. These creatures had no names for they had no need for them. You could guess what happens next slowly they began to talk learning in a different way to get what they need. Soon they could feel the things around them knowing that something was soft and warm. Soon they could see the beauty as well as the ugly that was in front of them all of their life.
When this happened the sin had begun. The creatures started to point out what they thought what was right and what was wrong. What the wanted and what they didn't want. What was good or bad. The gods did not like this and destroyed the beings but the land gave forth new beings, humans, elves and so on. When the gods destroyed the first creatures they left behind their sins. Forging their souls into the seven stones they scattered the land never to be seen again. The gods saw that they could do nothing about this land but watch over it and so they did.
But this was five hundred years ago before humans and other races came.
Now five hundred years later in the medieval times a war is at hand. Someone had found the stone of greed and uncovered its mysteries. As well as getting consumed but its sprit the man, Koy, desired power and took his once peaceful kingdom, Ra'lin, into a war. A rain of terror fell from the blood red sky over took the land as they destroyed everything in their path. Kyo would stop at nothing to gain the rest of the stones in order to formulate the ultimate being in himself.
To make a long story short Kyo gained all of the stones becoming the most powerful man that walked the earth. The land always seemed dark and under his rule creating a new kingdom named Sin. He had managed to in slave almost everyone you were lucky if you weren't caught. He even had control of the ever powerful dragons. The people began to give up hope until they learned that he could be stopped. All they had to do was invade the castle and take the stones…but could they do that without getting consumed themselves?
This is where you come in ^_^
You will start either in or out side the kingdom either way everyone has to meet up somewhere along the line of this story. Sin is surrounded by a forest swarming with solders. Further away is a small hidden cabin under a tree where the resistance groups stay. It’s not so big and mostly underground. The groups are working on tunnels that lead under the castle.
