http://www.gaiaonline.com/index.php?event= I was reading around in the Site Feedback and the Questions & Answres forums and found out that Rare Events has a glitch and will not appear. But they still occur. These can be anything from the floating gift boxes to special treasure chests. Originally these would appear in your inventory if you received a random event when you saw a eek near your little character up top or a pink link in one of your posts. But with the glitch these don't appear. All you have to do is click the link above. What it will do is load up the main page, but it scans to see if you had received a Rare Event. Then check your Inventory. If you did receive a Rare Event, the item will then be in your inventory. It's still very rare for such a thing to occur, but you never know, you might have won something. So far I got a Wooden Chest with the Checkered Floor Tiles.

Look in your inventory and see if there is a trunk or giftbox in your inventory.

It'll take you to the Main Page. Once there, go check your inventory. If you had ever received a Rare Event, the item will be in your inventory.
I clicked the link and checked my inventory and I had a Wooden Chest I didn't have before I clicked the link! It had to have happened weeks ago because of where it appeared in my inventory! I'd guess 2 weeks ago eek and I wasn't notified until I hit that link and checked it out.
Be sure to check your inventory from the window that opened by using the link. The Rare Event will not appear otherwise.

I don't have one, I've only had two or three events since I joined Gaia and they were ages ago.

Btw guys, those trunks and giftboxes are worth a lot more UNOPENED. You can get a Vending Pass and sell those suckers for more than you will ever get for what is inside them. Only rarely is there something good in those trunks and boxes.
I used to open them but I don't anymore, now I just give them away or sell them off.
For example, a Pink Giftbox has stuff in it that generally sells for 2k-6k with some rare exceptions like the Nitemare Headband that sells for 240k or so. But the box itself sells for just under 40k. So you are really lucky if you get an expensive item. Usually you are better off just selling the giftbox.

I opened mine. I figured what the Hell, it as my first Rare Event! I got the Checkered Floor Tile, which I thought was pretty cool. The Wooden trunk only goed for maybe 4k if you're lucky.

@ uma: Yup. You can get one by trading (I wanna say) 500 tires to the Fishing guy. Looks cool!

lol, why yes uma i do have a tire around my head.. i wanted one, and i finally got one, new the tire would come first.. but now i'm still working on my tin hat, that seems like i'll never get..
