It hasn't quite been decommissioned yet, but the time draws near..... It's being replaced by the new Air Force/Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet. The F-15 Eagle is also soon to be removed from service, as it is being replaced by the F-22 Rapter. The F-22 Rapter is now in service, and so is the F/A-18 Super Hornet. 3nodding

The F-14 Tomcat is certainly the only swing-wing fighter I know of. o.O I think it was very well designed. cool cool

I'm not gonna lie, I teared up when the last one flew. That was one amazing piece of machinery. I can't even tell you how long that airplane has been my favorite. When I was little I would daydream about it. I always wanted to fly one, and that was infact what I was going to try for out of the academy, not that it would have mattered now if I had stayed. Its gone, all gone, every last one dismantled, or at least carefully modified for display (aka any important piece gone and carefully destoryed and cataloged). I know it was getting out dated and out performed, but I loved it none-the-less, it really did have spirit.
