For me it tends to depend on what I'm doing. Some Gods and Goddesses work better for spacific tasks than others do. Usualy I just use the general term God/Goddess when not doing somthing spacific.

I mostly fallow venusand mercry, but I do have a whole pahation of others I invock when needed.
I'm not a huge fan of general god/goddes becuse it seends your energy out to whomever gets it first. and I dont know about you all but I dont want set or loki running around with my energys.

I am not a Wiccan so I do not subscribe to the god and the goddess thing (which I don't actually fully understand, so it would be good if someone could explain it to me). The gods and goddesses I usually pray to or involve in my rituals are Belenus, Sulis, Cernunnos, Lugh and Manwydan. I once prayed to Thunor when the other gods were being unresponsive (I did it in German though so my regular gods might not understand and find out that I was religiously cheating on them). And I specifically ignore Yahweh as much as possible because I feel have a third of the world praying to him and grovelling to him is quite enough.

tho not wiccan eather I undestand thier polymonothistic belifes to a degree (and If I'm explaining this wrong plese tell me).
they belive thire is one goddess and one god. they also belive that they are too powerfull to contact in full. so in order to help thire children (us) they split themselfs into samller bits so we can hanndle and understand them. its very simmler to catholic bleves even tho the wiccans probly came first.

I personly belive that the newer gods are the ethinal incarnat of human and/or natures needs and fears incarnte. there are some that are older then that such as foces of death and of life but ost of the newer ones are human creation and depend opon humans for thought energy to survie. but becuse they are followed by lots of pepole they are much more powerfull then your avege human.

There are loads and loads of gods and goddesses around, so your kinda asking a big question there. Here is a useful site about the mythology and gods of loads of cultures:

www.godchecker.com

The gods you choose are up to you. Some people feel attracted one particular pantheon e.g. Greek, Roman, Egyptian (I personally try to stick to the Brythonic Celtic pantheon), whilst other people choose any gods they want for particular rituals (some people believe that the gods are parts of one individual god/goddess, or that many are the same gods but with different names, like Lugh=Mercury)

True, it really does depend on what you are doing...
I work with the Goddess mostly, but I have worked with the God on occasion. My patron Goddess is Elen of the Ways.

I don't consider myself Wiccan either. I consider myself, at best a ecletic pagan with Celtic roots. I follow a Celtic and Avalonian patheon. I believe that the God/dess is one Divinity and has both male and female aspects and that all the vast Gods and Goddesses in the world today are all one, just different aspects of the One Divinity. I hope that made sense. That of course is what I believe and no one is right or wrong for their perticular belief system! In short, I believe that "All Gods are one God."

I follow the God and the Goddess, but mostly my patron is the Goddess.
