There have been many opinions about the series Naruto that has been airing on Toonami and I want to see what the overall opinion is. Many people say it is a good action show and has a good storyline. Others say that it is "The mainstream of mainstream animes" and is way too cliche (Spelling?).
What's your opinion?
To tell you the truth I thik it is a little childish, myself. I prefer storylines like those of Death Note and Neon Genesis Evangelion, but that's just me.
Tell me what you think!

Tough call. I like it myself, but then again, I guess I'm into series with a bit of "child" to them. Maybe the childish/immature side to it is actually that the main characters are kids. But that will change.

Hm, watching it on Toonami? That's alright, if you're into a filtered experience. You're better off going online and watching the dubbed episodes on a site like Dailymotion. (I don't know if Youtube still has the episodes, but you can check)
While the plot isn't exactly the most complex in all of Japan, there are quite a few lessons to be learned. And with the variety of characters, it's almost assured that you'll find one you sympathize with. So let's review...
4kids Naruto on Toonami: VERY little-kid, and with voice acting that's sub-par on average, with only two characters having decent American voices (And that's only because the two are total geeks)
Uncut Naruto online: The blood and wounds aren't edited out, the language isn't watered down, and several episodes feature a strange fluid style of animation that's beautiful to watch.
Warning: If you're going to go ahead and watch the online episodes, here's some information. If you just want the episodes that mirror the manga, then stop watching when you get to episode 135. Starting on 136 is a massive string of filler episodes that last until episode 220. After the final filler, the series goes into "Part Two", known as "Shippuuden". So after 135, for quality storylines and scenes, just search for "Shippuuden 01" and so on.

I haven't watched much but so far I think it's great.
A large part of the fanbase is childish and it's a pity Naruto gets such a bad image from them. I honestly never care when an anime goes mainstream. Some seem to think that mainstream animes are bad.
I just ignore the fanbase and just enjoy watching a show I love. Just as I'd do with any other show.
But I do recommend the unedited version. Subbed is my preference but the dubbed isn't bad. smile
