Personally, I see the reasons for having a special day to give thanks for a harvest, but since people (usually) don't actually harvest their own food anymore, I don't really see the point for a national holiday. I give thanks every day for what I have and the good things in my life, and most people wouldn't even pray/give thanks ever if there wasn't a specific day to do it. It's like saying "Hey, as long as you mutter a 'thanks' on a specific Thursday you can be a greedy brat all year!"

And now I come to the title: Turkey Day. I hate that name. It takes out all the meaning of Thanksgiving, because it focuses simply on the food aspect. It turns a meaningful tradition into a reason to stuff your face.

Anyway, what did you do for Thanksgiving this year? And, for those of you not in America, when/do you have a day for being grateful for a good year and harvest?
